Suggest Any Movie To Watch Over War And History

What is the best movie to watch in a (9th grade) world history class?

ok so in class, we fifteen year olds are going to watch a movie relating to history just for random end-of-the-year movie watching. they can only have like one or no sex scenes, and it can't be like those Alexander, Troy, or those ancient medieval times movies. here's a list of some good movies i want to suggest:
(for sure being suggested):
-the pianist
-pearl harbor
-antoinette

(maybe [i really don't want to suggest this]):
-saving private ryan
-kingdom of heaven
-apocalypse now
-full metal jacket
-braveheart
-elizabeth

which one(s) (top three) would you suggest? and if not these, other good/interesting history-related movies? (i couldn't think of a lot XD)

thanx, and the best answer gets TEN POINTS!!!! <3

What movies could I watch to review AP US history topics?

1776 is a great musical about the Declaration of Independence. But it also has much of the actual debate that took place during the Continental Congress. William Daniels plays Adams, Ken Howard is Jefferson.

John Adams, starring Paul Giamatti, which was on HBO last year, is a very good review of early US history

There are many films about the Civil War.
Glory, about the Massachusetts 54th, is very specific, but excellent. Great performances by Denzel Washington and Morgan Freeman.

Roots is one of the best mini-series ever done. Brilliant work all around by the cast, reviews slavery 1750 to 1865.

To cover US history 1950 to 1980, Forrest Gump is actually lots of fun. Tom Hanks is great, and the soundtrack rocks.

To find more, just go out the Internet Movie Database. Under their search site, go to Word Search under Keywords, and just type what you're looking for.

What are some good movies to watch to know more about history, especially on civil wars, great leaders, and world history in general?

Movies aren’t the best tools to learn about history, especially good movies, because good movies usually reflect the views and attitudes of those who made them, hence they are biased. But I guess you can learn from some of them. This order need not necessarily be the exact top 50 but it can alter depend on one’s interest, I’m a guy who’s interested much in non-fiction, thrillers, action, rom-coms than horrors, nevertheless there are exceptions. Is it necessary to watch all the Marvel movies before watching Avengers: Infinity War?

No, I think all the MCU movies were designed with new audiences who haven't seen any previous movies in mind.Having said that, you will probably appreciate the movie more if you have seen the previous movies (as there are dozens of “key” characters). Think of it like a TV series, you can enjoy just watching the Finale episode, but it is better to see the episodes leading up to it. Since watching 18 movies might be impractical here are my picks for the most essential movies leading up to Infinity War (as per the trailer) in my suggested watching order:The Avengers - Introduces key characters and the first Infinity StoneGuardians of the Galaxy - Introduces key characters, another Infinity Stone and explains the Infinity StonesAvengers: Age of Ultron - Introduces key characters, another Infinity Stone and sets up Civil WarCaptain America: Civil War - Introduces key characters and explains the current situation of most Avengers. (Also considered as Avengers 2.5 by fans)Black Panther - Introduces key characters and Wakanda, a key locationThor: Ragnarok - Introduces key characters and explains the current situation of the rest of the AvengersIf you have more time then I would recommend:Captain America: Winter Soldier - (to be seen prior to Avengers: Age of Ultron) as it explains SHIELD, HYDRA and sets up Civil WarGuardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 - (to be seen after the 1st Guardians of the Galaxy) explains the current situation of the Guardians of the GalaxyDr. Strange - (to be seen prior to Ragnarok) it introduces a couple of key characters and another Infinity StoneThor: Dark World - (to be seen after The Avengers and before Avengers: Age of Ultron) features another Infinity Stone and sets up Thor: Ragnarok.

What are some good movies to watch in order to prepare for the AP US History exam?

See if your local library has the BIOGRAPHY Series on DVD: factual information on a wide variety of US historical figures and their milieu. I'd stay away from movies, though--too much manipulation of facts for the sake of drama (even a classic like SCHINDLERS LIST has a number of documented differences from what really happened).
