Suggestions About Old Animations

Anime Series Suggestions?

One of the best animes that I've watched was Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, which was made by Gainax and Konami in 2007. It's a very action-packed anime with a bit of romance and positive upbeat messages in the face of despair. It can almost be related to modern tragedy.

At the beginning, the series does not shout out excellence, but as you become immersed in the story, you will come to enjoy it and realize the imagination the directors/writers put into the story. If you do happen to watch this anime, which is available for free subbed on anivide's website, be sure to read the spin-off manga entitled Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann - Guren Gakuenhen available in English on One Manga's website.

While this anime is properly placed in the 'mecha' section, it offers way more than other mecha-branded anime such as Mobile Gundam, which is far less superior in my opinion.

Give the series a shot! It's only 27 episodes long, and each episode is only about 25 minutes in length, meaning you can watch the entire series in fewer than 12 hours. The manga is only 6 chapters long with only about 19-27ish pages per chapter, so you won't have to devote much time to finish this series once you start.

Watch this anime for its profound positive messages if not for anything else. I can almost guarantee that you'll love it.

Peace out!

Any sad romantic anime happy ending suggestions ?

well, Eureka seven was a great one. Very lovey dovey. :)
I have to say Clannad, Air, Canon were VERY SAD although..they were all really good. They were sort of about love in a way. Everytime they would fall in love something would happen type of thing. If you like extremely sad animes...then those are for you. Also I am a cry baby but I am proud to say that I watched all three of them and only cried once! :D

I need to find a very obscure animated short film. Any suggestions on where to look?

I am looking for a particular animated short film that terrified me as a child. I've been looking on and off for it for nearly 4 years. Maybe it doesn't exist. Maybe...nobody should ever find it.

The short film aired on a show on Nickelodeon called Pinwheel. In the middle/late 80's I believe. Pinwheel collected cartoons and stop-motion animation shorts from all over the world to add to their show. I'm almost certain it's a stop-motion animation...but all these years later it could be a cartoon. Nevertheless, the short was probably not made in America.

This short animation was terrifying as a child. The scene is still burned into my mind (28 years later). It begins with a young boy sleeping in his bed. Above his bed is a ticking clock. All the lights in the room are off and it is very dark. Suddenly the clock begins to slow down it's ticking and eventually it stops on midnight. When the clock stops a greenish/bluish man climbs out of the clock. The boy wakes up just in time to see this man dressed in black grab him out of bed and kidnap him by carrying him through a window. The "Clock Man" takes the boy on some kind of terrifying adventure and brings him back to his bed before sunrise.

Clock Man was a childhood memeory I have kept to myself for many years. I'd bring it up time to time with friends of mine, but nobody seemed to remember him. I was nostaligic the other day, and thought if anyone out there could help. I want to find him to be vindicated. I want to find him to prove that he was real. I want to find him to prove that I am not making things up. I want to find him to finally erase his menacing fear from my mind - forever.

I have tried Youtube, Vimeo, Google Search, Yahoo, Bing, Wiki, RetroJunk, TV Junk and many other places. All empty handed.

Bakemonogatari ending? (and anime suggestions pl0x xD)?

Hey guys, I just wanna ask if Bakemonogatari ending is happy or sad? Just so I don't wanna have any regrets in watching it. Please be specific on why is it happy, or sad?

.....

And also in a slightly related to this topic, can anyone of you be so kind and suggest me an anime that has a romance, supernatural, and fantasy genre in it? Also, if harem and ecchi is included, it would be much better! xD (if it's harem type, the main character must be male, and the harem are of course, girls.)

I don't really care what kind of fantasy/supernatural anime it is, whether it is mech, monsters, vampires, etc.. as long as ROMANCE is included in it, and the second most important part for me, is the ending. I would really like the ending to be happy. I dislike tragic endings. And also, I really can't stand old animations, so I would much prefer new and decent animations.

All of these ridiculous strict requirements doesn't have to be met, as long as it has Romance and Supernatural stuffs in it and the animations.... but especially romance. :D

*Additional: Please list down the genre of that specific anime that you're suggesting. For example:

---Sword Art Online: Action, Romance, Science Fantasy---

Don't worry about listing down the plot, because I'll search for it myself.

Thank you in advance, looking forward to my question about Bakemonogatari ending, and your suggestions.

I'm a 22 year old baker. I'm interested in animation. How and what do I learn to be an animator as a beginner?

Let me start by saying that being a baker, may end up being more fun, and most definitely a better career choice than being an animator. So my first advice to you is keep being a baker, and when you start your own bakery infuse your love to animation and innovation into your products. But you didn’t ask for that. You asked about how to begin your learning path to animation. There are so many tools you can do animation with today. from Photoshop to, of course, 3dsmax, Maya, Blender, etc.So your first move would be to decide what kind of animation you want to do, and pick the suitable tool for that. There are many free character models out there you could use to practice your skills. No matter what tools and type of animation you choose, 2D, 3D, Stop Motion, these are the guidelines you will need to understand deeply and apply (and at times circumvent when necessary) in your entire career as an animator.Practicing on paper and making your own miniature flipbbooks i.e by using a PostIt notes booklet, is the easiest way to start and see results of your practice right away.Initially with the classic bouncing ball lesson, and later with more complex things such as characters etc.You can even take photos of these post it notes and put them in sequence to create your first animated “film”. Or just video yourself with a hone camera like the video above. After you master animation at such small scale, and you still enjoy it, get into more complex digital tools. All you will have to learn is a digital tool interface. The most popular tools for animation are Maya and 3dsmax and these are the ones you will be expected to know for a job in a 3d animation studio. If you want to make your own film you will need to learn a lot more than animation though, modeling, texturing etc. The easiest way is to take one of the good online courses. Do your research, not all are worth your hard earned money. For 2D animation there are a lot more tools out there. Just run a search on goole and you will find plenty. This is enough to begin with, and if you really decide to do this, be ready for a road with intense ups and downs, long hours of work, even longer of practice, a super competitive job market, and salaries which are going down.Whatever you choose to do, all the best.

Can I get any suggestions of programs or courses for beginning to create science animation videos?

Use Blender, it has all the tools you need. You can create 2D or 3D illustrations/animations with it, your imagination will be your only limit. It is a little bit difficult to start with Blender, but hopefully there are plenty tutorials on youtube, cgcookie, blenderguru, etc.Happy blending ;)
