I am not positive if this is true or not, but I have heard that the same ingredient used in rat poison is used in toothpaste that why you are not supposed to ingest it.
There are alternative all natural toothpaste that is much better for you. Such as Tom's. Look for it at the drug store or at better grocery stores.

I have always swallowed toothpaste?

Since I was a baby, I always swallowed toothpaste after I brushed my teeth. I've heard it's bad for you, but I don't think it has ever affected me. So now I am wondering, can swallowing toothpaste for 16 years give you health problems? Should I stop, and spit it out? Or is it okay?

I use Crest, by the way.

I Swallowed some toothpaste will it hurt the baby?

no,i swallowed my gum by accident and my baby was fine, what you eat is processed by your body and its nutritions carried by the placenta/umbilical cord to the baby so excessive amounts of things or foods with bacteria (cheese etc...) can be harmful a one off accident unless toxic should befine

Will I get white spots on my teeth from swallowing toothpaste?

Not really. What you are referring to is Dental Fluorosis. If you have all your permanent teeth than you are fine but not if you are a developing child. The reason why some peeps get white chalky teeth is because of too much fluoride. Many name brand toothpast have fluoride (which helps clean your teeth) and sometimes the child gets his/her hands on a tube and starts to eat it like candy. This is bad because the fluoride builds up in the tooth when it's in the developing stage. That is why they get dental fluorosis. So you are fine if all your teeth have erupted but don't eat it like candy:-D

Mainly because it contains sodium fluoride, that can be toxic at high doses. Swallowing a large amount of regular toothpaste may cause stomach pain and possible intestinal blockage: Toothpaste overdoseHere you can read an interesting article with details on estimated toxic doses: The Minimum Lethal Dose of Fluoride.  Be warned that it could easily have a partisan "touch": It is published by an association called "Fluoride Action Network".More here: Acute fluoride toxicity from ingesting ... How many tubes of toothpaste do you swallow to get drunk?

How old are you and how desperate are you to get alcohol. Toothpaste will make you really, really sick, you could flouridate your entire body and not get drunk from it. Mouthwash has alcohol in it, but are you in rehab where they are checking to see what substances you have access to? If not in rehab, you should be!!!

Fluorine in the fluoride molecule is very reactive”What could possibly happen if someone swallows toothpaste (Colgate)? Here is the Official information“Side Effects & SafetyFluoride is safe for most people in the amounts added to public water supplies and used in toothpastes and mouthwashes, and applied by dentists. Low doses (up to 20 mg per day of elemental fluoride) of supplemental fluoride taken by mouth appear to be safe for most people. Higher doses are UNSAFE and can weaken bones and ligaments, and cause muscle weakness and nervous system problems. High doses of fluoride in children before their permanent teeth come through the gums can cause tooth discoloration.Toothpaste and fluoride rinses should not be swallowed routinely, particularly by children.
