Terrified Of Leukemia

Could I have leukemia?

Remember you should not ask nor appreciate medical lightly from fora unless you’re sure about the source, and in such case, never abandom your doctor who knows so much more about you than we could from this information. An advice I could give you is to always seek out your doctor when you are unsure about such things. Remember doctors are here to help you, and had or had you not had the disease, you would need to seek him/her out eventually - so why not get this done face to face? In the case of disease, it’s always best to not sit with it alone, but to have someone there to guide you through it as you process the news. Too many people end up in bad situations either physically or mentally because they are embarrased or afraid to go to the doctor. Please, try to make a habbit of this - it will serve you well.

I Think I Might Have Leukemia?

I started doing research on leukemia for a story that I am working on. As I begun looking through the signs and symptoms of leukemia I started notice how many of the symptoms listed for leukemia were things I've been constantly experiencing. Like feeling weak and tired during after I've just slept the normal time, eating a lot but still losing weight, terrible headaches and back/joint pains that would sometimes put me to tears, bleeding gums, night sweats, sometimes difficult breathing and swallowing, pain below my ribs, and unknown rashes. I just don't know have to tell my family that I think I might have leukemia. Especially my grandmother who's sick and worries when something is wrong with some one in our family. Then it the part about going to see doctors which makes me so scared because it seem like every Time someone in my family goes to see the doctor for something they seem to leave out really sick. I mean what if I go to the doctor and they say that I do have leukemia, my life would just pass before my eyes not mines but my families too. I mean I only eighteen years with my whole life ahead of me I don't want to die yet. Then what if I don't have leukemia I wouldn't want my family to worry for nothing. I know it sounds craxy but I just don't know what to do. Can someone please give me some advice?

Should I be worried that I have leukemia? bruises, tired, no appetite?

So for the past several weeks I keep catching mild illnesses. A few days I felt like a might have a low grade fever like dizzy and hot/cold but assumed I just had some kind of flu and didn't worry too much. Then I noticed I kept getting really big random bruises (for no reason) on my legs and one on my arm. They took a while to heal and then I get more. I've also had a small red colored bruise under one of my eyes for a few months, i thought it was from my toddler sister hitting me, even though it wasn't hard and just got another small one. My other concern is I occasionally feel more tired then normal and hardly ever have an appetite. Might be because college food just sucks, idk, but I could go all day without eating and not feel hungry. I've lost weight even though I don't want to. However, I have NOT had any swollen lymph nodes or feel my bones achy. I'm 18 almost 19. I've been really worried and keep looking up things online. I'm going to the doc in a few days, but I just want to know if anyone has other ideas for my diagnosis or your experience with leukemia symptoms? Thanks.

Do I have leukemia or lymphoma? :-(?

I am a 30 year old woman. I haven't been feeling myself lately so I've been taking trips to my Doctor. Done lots of blood work.

I've had a low-grade fever for weeks and a couple of days ago I developed a slight sore throat that went away with tons of orange juice. I have also lost 10lbs in like 5 days. (although I am very anxious and nervous so I haven't eaten as much as I normally do...but still...that's a lot of weight)

So yesterday my heart was beating fast, I felt weak so I went to the ER. They confirmed a temp of 99.6.

My chest xray from them came back normal, but they did a monospot test and it came back positive. My liver enzymes were all 6x the amount they should be and my alkaline phosphotase (sp?) was high too. I have read that the monospot test can be a false positive if you have leukemia or lymphoma...so I am terrified.

I went to my primary again today and she ordered the EBV testing, a CBC, and more liver tests.

My doctor DID say that I am presenting very oddly for a mono patient but that she trusts the test and is testing me further for my piece of mind.

What do you all think? Thanks

What else besides leukemia could it be?

Did you have the bone marrow aspiration already? If not, when is it scheduled for?

Judging by your other questions, it sounds like you're a teenager. If this is the case, I think that your doctor does NOT think you have leukemia.

When a teen is suspected of having leukemia, it's not a long process to get diagnosed. When a pediatrician or primary care physician suspects it due to blood work, the teenager is immediately referred to an oncologist. Normally, the bone marrow aspiration happens the very next day if the doctor feels there's a good chance the teen has leukemia.

There are many other things that could be going on. You could have an infection, either bacterial or viral.

What does Leukemia joint pain feel like?

sounds like a running strain or at worst a stress fracture. could just be a growing pain. please seek help for your anxiety/hypochondria

i have leukemia and when i had pain it was more all over, like everything ached, i guess like a bad flu. the worst bone pain is from bone marrow biopsies or the shots to help your counts...

High A/G ratio mean in diagnostic medicine? Do I have Leukemia?

It could mean any number of things, including chronic inflammation, infection, or the tourniquet being on your arm too long during the blood draw (yes, this can affect it.) Dehydration can also affect it.

If your WBC count is normal, it is very, very unlikely you have leukemia.
