The Front Bumper On My Car Had Some Damage That Had Been Fixed Ayear Ago. A Few Days Ago I Had A

I bumped another car. Will my insurance go up?

I bumped into someone’/ rear bender at a stop light since I wasn't paying attention and the brake went off a little bit. It ended up in 2 small scratches. The person was telling me that it was going to cost $1000 to fix with the insurance so that’s super weird. I’m 19. Idek what to do. Please helpDo you mean “bumper”? The side panel behind the doors is a quarter panel. The front side panel in front of the doors is a fender. There is no “bender” on a car.Bumpers used to be chrome plated and difficult to repair. Now they’re sheathed in plastic. If there was no structural damage to the bumper, the scratches might be repaired by painting, or possibly by replacing the bumper cover. But hold your hat! You can kick a car and easily cause $500+ damage. It is quite possible that the damage will cost $1000.What to doReport the accident to your insurance company.Tell your adjuster that the only damage was two small scratches on the rear bumper and that you are skeptical about the claimant’s estimate. If you took photos at the scene (always a good idea), send the photos to your adjuster.Let the insurance company handle it. They will check it out. Will your rates go up at the next renewal date? Maybe. It depends upon your insurance company’s internal policy.Because you are only 19, you are considered a poor risk. Until you are over 25, your rates are going to continue to be higher than for other people. It seems unfair, but the reality is that young men under 25 have way more accidents than older drivers. Drivers ages 16-19 are three times more likely to crash than drivers over 20. Men under 25 get in more accidents because they’re more prone to aggressive behavior and risk taking.Call your insurance agent and ask if your premium is likely to go up because of this accident, and how much it will go up. If it seems astronomical, you can start shopping around for a different insurance company.

Is it expensive to fix body damage on a Tesla? Have you ever gotten a quote from a body-shop that surprised you?

It’s insane and you will have to fight your insurance company, even the really good ones to get the repair done by someone who knows what they’re doing. My poor Model X has been in two accidents since March when we picked it up from Fremont. We had gone so long without accidents with our cars, this car has been so unlucky. The first one was 2 days in, front end damage (barely any damage and it was over 5k just to paint a bumper). The second a few weeks ago I was rear-ended by a mom texting in a mini van, that ones going to be a mess. The aluminum repair is what kills you. It’s impossible to find body shops to work on it and we are pretty close to the factory! There is only one in Monterey and the waits are insane. The insurance company seriously thought about sending it north of SF on a flat bed to save money on the first accident. When I put up fuss about it they got mad, I don’t want my car going 3 1/2 hours north for a body shop repair. I honestly am thinking about getting rid of it. I have loved this car so much and I love not going to gas stations but between these two accidents and all the issues the car has had just from Tesla (the bluetooth is a nightmare, you can’t have an apple watch or it causes echoing on all of your calls on the other line, the screen already has screen burn, the falcon doors are always malfunctioning, multiple times all of the screens were black and I had to drive it with no instruments, the back seat has seized and been unable to fold, buttons are popping out of the liners, the keys have failed and been replaced, 1 day in the starter battery went bad, the steering wheel controls have gone bad, so many more things so many) the car has been in the shop getting courtesy work for longer than I have been able to drive it. It barely has any miles on it. At 110k I should have gotten a different car, it’s just bananas. It’s so much fun, it’s so fast, and it does so many amazing life changing things but I just don’t have the time to take it to the shop anymore. I have driven a Tesla loaner model S more than I have my X.I have no hope of getting the car back before November, it’s been sitting at the body shop for weeks, the parts take forever to come in, the repair takes a long time, they cost triple what regular cars do because of the training the techs receive to work on them, and the insurance company will try to screw me.

How long does it take to change the front bumper and to get back on the road? serious answerers only.?

the car is a '91 camry, and the mechanic only has to change the front bumper and that's it. i have another car and i got this one for free. i'm fixing it up to give it to my friend as a gift from her having a baby. i want it fixed well, because the baby will be riding in it. NO BACK work. just the changing the front bumper. 5 days? no way....

I cannot start the car after having a front bumper coullition. Is there a reset of some kind?

if you are driving a ford product which includes mercury and lincoln, then you are looking for the inertia switch. the exact location of it changes form model to model so i can not gibe you a location with out more information. i have seen then in the trunk on the back of the trunk area the driver side over a brake lamp assembly, in the front of the cabin of the car, below the dashboard behind a plastic panel or up against the fire wall at that same general location.

How much does it cost to fix a scratched bumper?

It really depends on the level of damage that has been done to the Base Coat (color layer) of the paint. It’s a Plastic Bumper… I’d clean it first, with soap & water, then probably use a polishing compound to remove any surface-scuff that has embedded into the clear-coat. Lightly sanding with some Scotch-Brite Pad to cut-down the clear-coat you’d be able to see if the Base Coat has been affected. Glazing Putty to fill any imperfections; prep sanding once dry, a few lite coats of matching color paint (masking-off, to prevent over-spray), more polishing, then clear-coat over the repaired area & blending with old paint surface.I would say 4 Hours of Labor/Waiting Time, $70 in Materials & an attention to detail is all it takes.Unfortunately, the vehicle owner will contact their insurance carrier & your Insurance Carrier will be made to pay whatever it is the Vehicle Owner Wants, regarding Repair, as it falls under Collision & You left an admission of guilt. Otherwise it would have fallen under Comprehensive Coverage & wouldn’t affect your Insurance Rates. When going through an Insurance Estimator, it could cost you anywhere from $500–$1200, instead of the Repair Cost I quoted above.

Can you fix a totaled car?

I got into a bad car accident two days ago. I have a Volvo v70. its a pretty strong car. A big semi hit me and smashed the front driver side of my car. The bumper is off my axel is snapped ,my frame is bent, most of the wiring is shot ,fuse box is destroyed and not sure of engine condition . but the whole back side and body of my car is fine. its just the front drivers side. the front passenger side didnt have any impact .

my question is ..is my car worth fixing? its my first car and im pretty attached to it and it saved my life being the sturdy car it is.

my car is 2001 so its worth only six thousand .
