Why has terrorism declined since Donald Trump became president?
Well, I'm not convinced this question is sincere in the least.So little of the terrorism that takes place is in America, or indeed in the western hemisphere, means that what is reported is insignificant compared to what takes place.This has been covered many, many times, by journalists, by terrorism experts, by experts on the Middle East.Added to that, terrorism is extraordinarily rare anywhere in the world. Even in the worst nations, your odds of being affected by terrorism are comparable to your odds of being hit by lightning multiple times in quick succession.When you're talking about such a very low probability, you can only measure it reliably in incidents per year or even per decade.(In the mainland U.S., the only reliable measure is incidents per century because otherwise random fluctuations swamp meaningful variation.)Trump hasn't been President for a year, won't be close enough to a decade for a long time and we're all in big trouble if he approaches a century in power even if you like him.This is all perfectly well known. Anyone can look up how risk is calculated and evaluated. It's something that gets emphasized every time anything happens around the world. Ignorance of this is practically impossible.When you look at it further, it's not clear that any appreciable reduction in events or risk has taken place. Britain was attacked, British and American airlines are on higher alert than usual, the murder rates haven't gone down anywhere, demobbed terrorist groups in Europe are considering remobilizing, hate crimes (which are terrorism, under any accepted definition) are on the rise and extremist groups are acquiring power. A context we've seen many times in history, despite each time swearing that'll be the last.So how can I believe in the sincerity of the question?If anything, precisely because hate crimes (an effort to alter the political environment through violence against the public, the standard definition of terrorism) have gone UP in America since Trump acquired power - in other words terrorism has increased and everyone is fully aware of this - it is impossible to accept that the question is genuine.Worse, the question is free of context, facts or indeed accuracy.I honestly urge the poster to fix these defects because it is a surprise it hasn't yet been censored or the poster censured for gross violations of TOS as things stand.
