The Mommie Of My Puppies Abandoned Them . Help

How often should 3 week old puppies get nursed? I noticed the mother doesn't tend to the pups as often, I feel the need to carry her to the box myself

It is normal that the mother needs to nurse the puppies less frequently as they grow older. Weigh them daily and keep an eye on them that they seem healthy, calm and content. Hungry puppies will be anxious, will whimper and search for mom. If yours are gaining weight and sleeping calmly between feedings, usually huddled up with one or several siblings, they are probably fine. There are however a couple of situations you need to be attentive to!Some mothers lose interest in their pups too early, or run out of milk. Not all moms are great moms, even in the animal kingdom. If you think this is the case, take her to her pups and stay with her as she is nursing, talking to her, petting and calming her. She should continue nursing until the pups are full, when they themselves wobble away to have an after-dinner nap or fall asleep at the table. :-) If you think she is running out of milk or interest to the point that the pups are not getting enough food (lose weight or seem hungry), supplement with puppy powder milk. (You can buy powder to mix into milk for puppies at the vet or a good pet store. Don't use cow milk.)Some moms get mastitis or sour nipples, and nursing hurts them. Check the teats of your bitch daily to make sure they are all unharmed and well, that she doesn't mind you touching them, and feel that there are no lumps in any of her breasts and that they are not hard or warm. The mastitis often occurs when the mother has few pups and more milk than they can eat, so there is always milk left. The sour nipples often occur in the opposite case, when there are lots of puppies so they don't switch between the nipples, giving them a chance to rest. If your bitch has a sour nipple, be there during the nursing to help make sure no puppy nurses from the sour one so it can heal. Supplement if needed. Gently empty that breast yourself so that your bitch doesn't get mastitis. If it doesn't get better in a day, go see your vet.If your bitch has mastitis and you haven't treated this condition in a bitch yourself before, go to the vet.Good luck!

3-4 week old baby parakeet, does the food HAVE to be warm? Am I doing enough?

Hmm.. a bird shouldn't be sold unweaned unless its going to a professional.

His food should be warm, but its not a huge deal. Just he is used to it. Umm the average age when a budgie is weaned is about 4-6 weeks old. Now your bird sounds like three weeks. Also the diet he is on is not appropriate. The person who sold him to your boyfriend was unprofessional and just trying to make profit not actually caring for the bird itself. Because you can't simply just switch the birds diet or this will cause 'hiccups'. Also hand feeding baby birds is very time consuming, I'm not sure but I think about every 4 hours you have to feed him, double check though. What you really need to do is go into the yellow pages and look up an avian vet, under vets, you should find a few. Call some and get their opinions on how you can introduce an actual baby bird formula into his diet without causing hiccups. An avian vet will know all the answers so ask everything you need to know.

Good luck! Hope I've helped.

IS MY MOTHER USING ME AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ME?

I just need some honest advice. When I was growing up, my ma was real abusive. She would beat me, threaten to throw boiling hot water on me, I would be put on punishment for months at a time... and so on. Her boyfriends use to watch me also and look at me in an uncomfortable way. They would beat me and she never stood up for me. She was also an alcoholic and there were times when she would drink so much, I could smell the alcohol from outside.

Anyway, my ma is like Mommie Dearest from that movie.. (lol) Or like that women in Madea's Family Reunion. The mother that put her daughter through hell... and I'm not over exaggerating. I wish that people really can understand what I've been through.

She got sick because she smokes a lot of cigarettes. She has emphysema and is on 24 hour oxygen and can't walk very far. I have been taking care of her for 2 years.

So had to stay with her and help her. She charges me rent and I also take care of her. I wash her, shop for groceries, do her hair, make sure she's clean, run all errands for her, clean up after her, make sure her oxygen is clean and etc...

Anyway, I don't get paid for helping her. I pay her and then I even buy food and go over and beyond. I usually give her money on the 1st of every month, but couldn't give her anything until the 19th this month. So all week she's been arguing with me about the money. Even though I pay her on time every month and I do alot for her.

I am just wondering... what is your opinion about this situation? I am also burning out because I work as a caregiver. I care for an elderly lady 24 hours 3 days out of the week and then I come home and take care of my mom the other 4 days of the week. I feel stuck!

What should I provide for my dog of 1 month?

I have had wonderful relationships with dogs over the past 40 years or so. I think the best thing you can do for your 1 month old puppy is to be with him or her as much as humanly possible and to provide support comfort and love at every opportunity. Your dog will not experience separation anxiety nor a host of other stress related problems if you are rarely apart. It is a good idea to leave your puppy in the company of trusted friends or relatives occasionally so he or she does become completely dependent on you being there since there may be a time when you do have to part. There is a fine line between trust and co-dependence. I know this is not possible for many people but if you can do it you will have very little formal training to do. Your friend will love and respect you and will be very easy to teach the basics such as sit, walking on a leash (which should be avoided as much as possible but is a necessary skill) stay etc. Come is the most important “command” as you are your canine companion’s protector and may know better than they do at some times, for example when chasing a rabbit across a busy road. I give Saffron some freedom with respect to “come” but she knows the difference between “come” and “COME!!!”If your dog never feels abandoned and you are always there to protect him or her, she or he will most likely learn excellent social skills and will never be a problem with other dogs or people.People are amazed by my dogs and compliment them and me frequently and I have done very little formal training.

Found a baby bird with larvae like things borrowing inside it...?

We have a nest in our barn and there were lots of babies in it. Then I started finding them on the ground, dead. They looked like something had tried to eat them. Then I found one the ground still alive. When I picked it up, it had these larvae, worm things in it. They were like the size of a bean and borrowed into different places in it. I know I'm weird, but I spent like 45 min. trying to get them all out. There were like 8 of them in this tiny bird. I put the bird in a box with towels and put it on our warm dryer in the mud room. It's still alive this morning, but now I don't know what to do with it. I really want to know what those things in it were. It's was gross, but interesting. Also, will the vet take it? What could I feed it? I've tried to google it, but come up with different answers. Thanks!

My kittens disappeared?

Its a rarity, but yes- some cats will take their own kittens out and abandon them when they feel they are old enough. My aunt had a cat that would take one kitten at a time and leave with it for several days- she always returned alone-she would continue to do this until all the kittens were gone. We could only hope that she was finding proper homes for them!!!
