This Yahoo Program Is Horrible Why Won

Can i get a tattoo while in the navy DEP program?

Don't even THINK about it. The services all have strict rules on tats. If you get one, you risk being turfed out even before you make it in.

If you think it's because your recruiter doesn't want to do some paperwork, you've got a crap attitude to begin with. That won't serve you well in the military -- best leave it at the bus when you ship out to boot camp.

Edit: You accuse your recruiter of not wanting to do some extra paperwork. THAT is a "CRAP ATTITUDE" by definition, Son. He's got a wad of time and effort already invested in you and doesn't want to see it all go down the toilet for YOUR failure to follow INSTRUCTIONS. Your crack about my "bitterness" only buttresses my interpretation of your attitude as CRAPPY.

Yahoo started as a manually-constructed list of links to Web sites and aspired to be a media portal to the Web. The culture that developed at Yahoo apparently shortchanged engineering in the grand scheme of things (media people were viewed more important). At Google, engineers were first-class citizens, so Google attracted top engineers and could be very selective in hiring. Over the years, Google (and later Facebook) assembled a greater brain and skill capital than Yahoo. Google started later than Yahoo and viewed the core challenge as an algorithmic problem - finding the best Web sites through automated indexing and real-time search, not manual indexing like Yahoo. So, Google relied on automation more, used a memorable, minimalistic interface that didn’t require daily maintenance, focused on a better-defined objective, and leapfrogged the competition. With a leaner operation, Google wasn’t hit as hard by the dot-com bubble bursting (the dot-bomb) as Yahoo. Facebook started much later, had a crisp goal, and also managed to attract great engineers, many from Google. Like Google, Facebook stayed lean for a while, remaining flexible and sensitive to what prospective customers wanted.Lessons learned (for the long term)focusing on one thing and becoming the best at it is importanteffective automation beats manual laborquality hiring and retention are importantlean operation helps survive in a slow economyGoogle’s obsession with infrastructure and its data-driven culture of self-improvement were prescient (Amazon is another example). Reliable and scalable infrastructure is very attractive to engineers - it improves the learning curve, avoids routine, provides a valuable experience and helps building resumes even when projects fail. It also makes possible acquisition more attractive to innovative companies that can leverage their technology at the Google scale. Google realized this advantage early and made a number of strategic acquisitions, such as YouTube, the team that developed the Android OS, and more recently DeepMind. In contrast, Yahoo wasn’t as successful in acquisitions and their integration, so missed many market opportunities.Another lesson learnedplanning and optimizing for the large scale - data, processing, engineering, business, branding - ensures continuing innovation and helps capture new markets

Get a Gmail account, like everyone else in 2017.Not trying to be a dick, just don't want the answer getting collapsed. I can see how it comes off as dickish, though. But seriously, Yahoo’s been a real shit show in recent years; may as well jump ship…

Have you ever looked at the Alexa rankings of websites? According to that 3rd party resource (now an Amazon company), Yahoo is now the 6th most visited site on the internet. That’s after the the wide-spread media attention about hacking which led to the theft of their entire customer database. When I worked there, they were the 5th most visited site. Everyone in Silicon Valley would tell me it’s dead, but for hundreds of millions of people around the world, Yahoo is anything but dead. For a lot of Yahoo’s site visitors, they keep coming back because they don’t think Yahoo is bad, they like the user experience, they like the content, they like the finance and sports sites — there’s just a lot of good stuff there for them. I think the users liked Yahoo’s policies on privacy (which unfortunately hacker’s destroyed a lot of users’ trust.) Yahoo put a lot of effort into optimizing their live video streaming experience and the NHL chose to partner with them because of it (I personally thought they should have tried to develop a strong relationship with FIFA to really bring in crazy numbers of fans.)

What was the effectiveness of the D.A.R.E program?

The DARE program and all its clones and affiliates are horrible, horrible things and should be dismantled at once. Those programs are so full of lies and bullsh*t its not even funny. They give out half-truths, myths, and outright lies to kids. But what do they think? That kids are idiots? Everyone, even kids, has a built in bullsh*t detector. I know for certain that mine went off during my first DARE class. I didnt even know why at that point. I was 13 or so. Later on after doing some research and finding out the truth about drugs I realized how much Id been lied to. They call those programs "drug education", but its not education at all. Its lies and scare tactics. Scare tactics dont work!! For sure some impressionable kids will believe it. But then if theyre so easily influenced, all it takes is one person who knows the truth to convince them. And then they lose respect for the authority figures who lied to them. Its much better to actually educate people instead of lie to them. They can learn the real risks and pleasures of drugs instead of being told its all evil. Oh well. Yeah, so anyways the DARE program is a fascist insitution and is also a total failure. Look at me, 5 years of DARE and Im a full fledged pothead.

spades is over run with kids running booter programs and hogging tables.too many yahoo and fake agent id bots in rooms and hackers running booter programs. This is causing a big lag problem. Report them!
Yahoo installed a program to try and catch them. The problem is the program has a glitch, if you get booted from games and try to log back in right away, IT WILL BAN YOU FOR NO REASON! So its best to wait about 5 minutes before logging back in. Other tips;Beware of invites, if you get one and want to play, go to the table, do not click accept. Booters commonly send invites then boot you out of lounge! IF a table is empty but has someone watching but not seated, pick another table.Use this link to help with lag. 2nd guessing the navy nuclear program?

Nuclear Power is not a rating, it is a field.
There are three ratings in the nuclear field which are ET, EM, and MM.
Of those there are 4 basic NECs, or Naval Enlistment Classificattion Codes. These designate the ratings as a Reactor Operator for ETs, Electrical Operator for EMs, Mechanical Operators for most MMs, and Engineering Laboratory Technicians (ELTs) for some MMs.

As a nuke you will not be at sea any more or any less than any of the non-nuclear power ratings on the same ship. You will be operating and maintaining the propulsion plant. The basic job description is to push the ship through the water. The sailor steering the ship, the ones manning the weapons systems and the Commanding Officer will spend just as much time as you will at sea.

As was said already, Nukes are the first onboard to prepare for an underway and the last to leave when back in port. In general you will work more hours both at sea and in port than your non-nuclear shipmates. And if you're on a carrier, there are a lot of smaller ships that are at sea with you.

I got out after my first enlistment. I'm glad I did. I'm also glad I did it and knowing what I know now if I had it to do over I would. It was great training and experience that has sustained me with very good employment since I got out. No sugar coating it, the job sucked a lot of the times, especially during ORSE work-ups. It has its rewards, but they are subtle and only noticable in hind-sight.

I've worked at Google, Microsoft, and several startups. "Top tech companies" are willing to hire computer science students straight out of college (into the junior, entry-level positions, obviously). If you want to work for companies like Google, go interview there ASAP! Maybe you won't get hired (the odds are against you even when you're actually qualified, because companies are more concerned about not hiring *any* bad choices than hiring *all* the good choices). But you *will* have personal experience in what interviews at "top tech companies" are like and will have first-hand knowledge of what they're looking for and what you should improve on. You absolutely can interview at the same company later (say, in a year or two, after you've gained more experience or learned new skills at some other job). The question of how to do better at technical interviews has been discussed in-depth elsewhere; just google it. What it sounds like you need is to remove the "unknown" quality about the companies you aspire to work for.

Because they are in a right mindset to do business and keeps on upgrading & updating their product with time. Evolution is really essential to sustain the business. The reason behind Yahoo's failure was not that people liked or disliked it , it was only because they lacked both innovation and evolution . Their most popular product of that time i.e Yahoo Messenger still have almost the same features it had long time back, neither did Yahoo search come out with something great. Infact, i believe Yahoo Answers had a great potential and could have been as popular as Quora today, just because they didn't try the right thing at the right time wiped them out. If we look at Microsoft's business , even today MS Windows 10 costs around Rs. 7996 at amazon. With each selling up a laptop in any corner of the world , Microsoft is earning approx $125 USD from the OS. Their top earning products includes MS Office, Windows, XBOX,etc. They have done some great aquisition of companies like Skype, Dropbox, etc. Infact their ideology is quite great. Bill gates had once said - “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning” which is quite true. If Yahoo had stepped out from its traditional way of working and had analysed the market, the picture today had been really different.
