Till What Age Can You Leave The Kid In The House

At what age should children leave their parents' house? Why?

Our family has no mandatory age for children to leave the parental home. Our family doesn’t believe leaving home is a benchmark of an healthy adult or demonstrates independence and “standing on your own two feet.”One has nothing to do with the others.Sometimes the most mature decision an adult child can make is to remain home for a family member who needs financial support or home care.My daughter is 26 years old and has always lived with either me or her father. She is a great example of a responsible and contented adult.Since her first job at 16, our daughter pays her share of household expenses. She works for her dad, has adult friends, and a loving partner who also happens to live with her parents. Her father and I live in college towns where the standard of living is high and affordable housing is scarce. We don’t believe our kid should have to struggle economically to prove some arbitrary age of independence.I first left home at 16 to attend boarding school an hour and a half away. During my college freshman year, I lived in the woman’s dormitory at a university across state. The following year, I transferred to a community college closer to home and had my own apartment. I never went back home permanently. But my father claimed me on his taxes until I married at 23.When I got pregnant two years later, my husband and I were still college students. We moved in with his parents, at his childhood home, during my pregnancy to save money as we finished school. We lived with them until we graduated with our bachelor degrees. Our daughter was 3 months. My younger brother didn’t go away to school. He continued to live with our parents, off and on, after high school. He went back home to help Mom care for Dad who had Alzheimer’s.Several years after Dad died, Mom developed Parkinson’s and my brother moved in for good to be with her. He inherited the house after her death. My ex-husband and I think it’s very convenient living with our adult child. She’s an excellent lodger. In addition to the extra cash for rent, she’s around to care for the pets, pitches in with cooking and cleaning, and runs errands. Why have our daughter do all that for someone else?

At what age can parents legally kick you out of the house in the United States?

Well, since the ‘law’ stipulates that an individual is an adult at the age of 18, and is legal in all states in the United States, the ‘legal’ age that parents can kick their kids out of the outs is just that….18 years old.Of course, depending on the attitude of some kids who think they know it all and make outrageous and unruly and ungrateful emands on their parents, that could be even at an earlir age, even if it would be illegal to do so and the parents could be charged with chile abuse or improper parenting.I like the claim my dad made when I was a kid and would get unruly or mouth back when told to do something. He’d say to me…’I brought you into this world. I can damn sure take you out of it just as easily’. If nothing else, it got my attention, let me know who the boss was and where I stood in the ‘pecking order’. And there were no rules or laws back then that would get him into trouble of any kind for speaking to me like that. But that’s back when people know what sex they were by age 4, kids were to be seen and not heard, and when seen they’d best be doing something productive NOT destructive or they’d get one hell of an ass whoopin’. And those kids grew up to be ‘men’ and ‘women’ who could deal with life and didn’t need any ‘safe place’ when things got a little ‘iffy’ or hard to deal with at the moment. Now what do we have??? A nation full of whiners and snowflakes. Something the wolf in the storybook tale of the ‘Three Little Pigs’ could have blown over or down with only half a breath and a sever case of COPD.

Kids must leave house at age 18. Do you agree with this?

Wow! How'd I miss all those high-paying jobs? My first job paid $1.00 per hour, and it was a big deal when minimum wage became $1.25. Most states still did not have a minimum wage. When I worked in Illinois, I got $.90 per hour, and everyone was saying, "Go to Chicago. They have minimum wage, and pay $1.00 !"..( and I had an AA degree)

Let's consider a parent's rights: Can you imagine the financial stress on the parent, who must support four lazy "children", of 19, 20, 21, 23. ??? Sound like something you would look forward to as a parent?
And, ALL of those kids are "grown-ups" and insist on not following their parent's views or rules.
So, you want parents to be slaves?

There is a good paying job with great benefits awaiting most kids when it's time to leave the nest.
Think...MILITARY.

Added: I didn't nudge either of my kids out of the nest, as they were a delight to live with! If you wanna stay home, be easy to live with, and pull your own weight by helping every way that you can..Don't cause headaches or take your home or parents for granted.

What age do you leave your child home alone?

At 12 a kid can legally babysit, so I'd say that is an appropriate age to be left in charge of themselves as well.

Many states have a legal minimum age to be left alone, here's a listing:

You should know if your child is responsible, trustworthy, and if they keep their head on their shoulders in an emergency. Those three things are the test for me, if they don't meet that test at 17 I wouldn't leave them alone.

At what age is it legal to leave a child alone at home in the U.S.?

I’ll note that in the US you can’t get tax credits for childcare if your child is over 12. Whether you accept the US government as a qualified judge of the age at which children can generally be left unsupervised while a parent works is another question. In my house, we left our children alone for stretches as short as 5–10 minutes beginning somewhere around 9 in the scenario where parent 1 departs with another child very shortly before parent 2 arrives home. By 6th grade (generally age 11–12 in the US) we considered them capable of staying home after school by themselves; it’s significantly less common to find afterschool care for post-elementary children. In the more general case, I agree with everyone who writes that it varies from child to child. Also, I would say, community to community, as a child left alone with several neighbors to rely on in case of trouble is very different than a child left alone with no community resources. Also, I would say, country to country, because there are legal implications no matter how responsible you personally think the child is.Also, I would say, whether we are talking about home alone for a few hours after school, or home alone overnight or for an unbroken stretch of days.

At what age must a child leave an orphanage in the USA?

Age 18, unless they are still in high school. They are not given any help unless they find the great organizations out there that help these children transition from that type of live to a functional adult life. These organizations are usually local. And if the foster child or orphan is really lucky, the foster parents actually care and help the child prepare for the inevitable release from the system.

In the USA orphanages are still around, just not the same as they used to be. While they are stilled ridden with insufficient supplies of food and space, they are used as a temporary place to be in between foster care homes or if the child is unable to stay in a family's home. They are referred to as children's homes rather than orphanages. I know this because my husband went to visit the one he lived in as a child to donate money and it is still operating. (He is 24, adopted from foster care at age 14.) Also, while I visited him at his adoptive mothers house people from our local children's home brought a child from the home into his adoptive mother's care. Instead of these homes being privately owned, the home belongs to the state foster care system.

Will kids be safe if you leave them alone in Skyrim?

By default, the game is programmed so that children are invincible. Unless you use a mod or a console command to change this, you can't kill any children in the game.

You can leave children alone safely. But, for immersion, you might want to have a steward or housecarl who stays with them when you are gone.

At what age is it OK to leave a child at home unattended for an hour?

Anonymous only so I don't announce to the world that I occasionally have a child at home. My eldest child is a very responsible 10 year old with a mobile phone. We have known and loved ALL of our neighbors for almost 10 years. He has a secret hideaway that only a child can fit into. He knows all of the upstairs and downstairs fire escape options, and we've physcially run through them. That being said, I don't leave him more than an hour at a time because he gets lonely.  I believe the biggest threat to pre-teens and teens being alone is through the internet. When children are bored and especially lonely, this makes them vulnerable to the online (and offline) predators. I will increase his tolerance for being alone as he gets older and talk to him when I get home about different ways he can handle it (build something with legos that his brothers would normally smash down, play a video game rated 10 and up that he normally can't play with his brothers around, read a book, write a letter to a friend that we deliver when I get home, call/text grandma). Anyone else having any other ideas?  I can also change the internet passcode to disable the internet while I am not home, but that seems extreme. My dad used to wander the woods of Oklahoma in the 50's when he was 8 or 9 years old. He would go off the entire day by himself or with his dog and come home with a squirrel or something for dinner. I think my child is equally capable of handling himself for a day from a strictly functional perspctive (we have a dog, too), but society has changed and people no longer have nature to comfort them in their lonliness and provide adventure when they are bored. The constant availability of people to interact with, entertainment, and distractions means people (including children and teens) don't know how to be alone or quiet and still so they reach out via the internet to allieviate how they feel.

What is the legal age to leave home in Georgia?

Here is the law but the Police will usually not force a 17 year old to return if they called, each case would depend on the local police where you live so call them from a pay phone and ask.~

Moving Out of Your Parents' House in GA
the legal age of majority in Georgia is eighteen (18). Georgia Code Title 39, Chapter 1, Article 1.
A child (anyone under the age of 18) cannot just move out from their parent(s) home. The parent(s) are responsible for the child till that child reaches 18. You can leave your parents' house without their permission when you reach the age of 18, or they can kick you out.
You cannot leave before you reach 18, although there are a few exceptions.
Exceptions to this rule:

* If a child gets pregnant, that child can get married without parental consent and after the marriage will be consider emancipated.

* The teen can become emancipated. There is no prescribed emancipation status laws, such cases are adjudicated on an individual basis. This requires a ruling from a judge. You must convince the judge that there is good legal reason for you to be able to leave your home. In the state of Georgia on an annual basis this happens about a dozen times.

* The teen can join the military with parental consent at age 17.

Pursuant to Georgia common-law emancipation, if a 17-year-old is self-supporting, the parent(s) can grant permission for them to live elsewhere. The parent(s) can also revoke that permission at any time they choose.
NOTE: The above Posters seem unaware that a 17-year-old can now go to prison in Georgia. This created a conflict that supersedes all of the above. A child may now leave home at 17, and they cannot be forced to return, but they cannot be kicked out until 18! Call a police officer and ask.
NOTE: The above persons seems unaware that though a 17 year old is treated as an adult in a court of law and Georgia if you leave your house without parental consent you can be reported as a runaway and will face potential probation, I know I did it. And I don't have to ask a cop they called ME and let me know.
Note: The Georgia Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS) invetigates and will remove a child if abuse is suspected. See Division of Family and Children Services (DFCS).

As a parent, at what age can you leave your son alone at home for 2/3 hours?

Depends on the state law and how much you trust your child. Also, have they been taught to do the right thing should an emergency come about?I live in Florida. There really is no age restriction for leaving a child home alone. As long as they can feed themselves and handle basic needs, it's OK. With that being said; I could be wrong too. I didn't start leaving my son alone until age 9. He had a phone and I was never gone more than 90 minutes. When he turned 12, I started going longer, usually up to 3 hours running errands. Still checking in with him every 30 minutes or so.The point I'm trying to make is; It's up to you as a parent. I’m not sure of the age of your child. If you feel they are responsible enough and have ways to contact you in an emergency, and they know how to identify one, then give it a few trial runs. Go on 15-30 minute errand runs. Then build up. Go over how they need to communicate with you. Set rules such as; never answer the door. If it's a police officer, call 911 to make sure it's a legit visit. No matter what happens they must call you first. If you smoke, hide every lighter and match you have.
