Tips For Starting My First Job

Starting my first job at arbys monday!?

Make sure you show up on time, be friendly, and you will be trained on anything they want you to do

Nervous about starting a new job , any tips ?

1) keep your cv concise and put a brief personal statement first followed by your experience, education and references. remember to spell check it and get help with grammer if you're not confident.
2) when attending interviews dress smartly and always make an effort with your appearance
3) remember to smile and make eye contact! as nerve wracking as it is, you need to show your personality as much as possible in the interview and come across approachable.
4) when starting a new job, make eye contact with new colleagues, again remember to smile. its useful to ask little questions to other people - people love talking about themselves then offer up a small piece of information about yourself. it'll help break the ice, you'll get to know them and they will get to know you.
5) with customers: if you're working with them face to face be conscious of your body language; don't cross your arms and although im repeating myself: smile! it will put the customer at ease. if talking on the phone try to keep upbeat and 'smile' as you talk. customers really will hear your smile in your voice.

hope this helps!

I'm starting my first job as a hostess tomorrow?

I went in for an interview at Swiss Chalet yesterday and they hired me on the spot!
This is my first job and I'm kind of nervous. I am only sixteen, and the manager told me that all of the other workers are in University or older.
I can be kind of shy around people I don't know, and I'm worried about greeting customers, but mostly about my co workers. I'm afraid I'm going to feel left out, or like an annoying kid to them
What can I do to not be nervous, and to help them understand that I'm serious about this job, not just a little kid who doesn't know anything?
Also, when i went in for my interview yesterday, all of the waiters/waitresses and the other hostess seemed really close. Will I feel left out? Will they accept me?
Please help, I'm really nervous.
Also, I told the manager yesterday that I was a people person and had no trouble talking to people/ being open with people. That's kind of a lie, I can be really shy around people I don't know. I don't want to act shy tomorrow because I'm afraid she will fire me... please help.
