How can I add a joint holder in an SBI savings account online?

Sorry but you cannot join second holder in SB account online. You need to visit your home branch along with the person to be added as Second holder and his/ her KYC documents + photograph along with your application for doing the same.

I have a sole savings account in SBI, now I want to add my wife as a joint holder. What is the process?

Though the process is almost common in all banks, each bank can add/remove a condition to be fulfilled while converting an individual’s account into a joint account; such as “ The due diligence process, while opening a deposit account will involve satisfying about the identity of the person, verification of address, and compiling a customer profile. Obtaining recent photograph of the person/(s) opening / operating the account is part of due diligence process.“I suggest you get in touch with your account branch directly or through the portal at: https://www.sbi.co.in/portal/web...;According to SBI rules, the Bank may at the request of all the joint account holders allow addition or deletion of name/(s) of joint account holder/(s) if the circumstances so warrant or allow an individual depositor to add the name of another person as a joint account holder. However, the name of one of the original account holder must be retained after addition/deletion of name/(s).The procedure is enumerated clearly in the article at: How to Add Joint Account Holder(s) in SBI Account ?

Couldn't a hacker just add a couple of zeros to your bank account and boom you're rich?

The best way to do it is in transit. In all the above examples it relates to data in it's persisted state, that could be data in a notebook, paper or on a hard drive. So adding a zero should be done in flight. Smarter systems would do checks but if you look at common mistakes that "regular" people experience is timeouts. Poor code cause inconsistencies such as that double entry going out the door because at the end of the day, very few programmers that develop these API's are actually accountants or they don't give a hoot for double entry because it's not part of the spec. (Note here that that makes good developers worth more). Other than in flight transactions you could add a zero during the information exchange. Companies offload their risk. The consumer get a "sorry , please contact the payment processor". Due to this poor behavior between two vendors double entry also goes out the door because they "trust" one another or blame one another for poor code.  Most payments in the world is processed by very few providers, most of which are covered against theft. It's also during the interchange when security change between networks and that is a weak spot. At the end of the day, unless you turn your hard currency into something physical it's pretty pointless. Most folks end up buying stuff which obviously get shipped etc. I digress. Can a hacker(or sufficiently skilled programmer)  (modify) add zeros to in flight data leveraging faster computing \ networking to "hijack" the outcome of the transaction to his advantage and materialize that either in shares, offshore profits or cash. Checkout algorithmic trading, spoofing etc.

Is knowing someone's bank account number enough information for anyone to withdraw money in US banks?

Yes. With your account number and the name of your bank one can easily drain your account. If your account is a checking account or a certain type of money market account, one only needs to easily create a fake check to drain it. Also, as with savings accounts, one can drain your account via an ACH pull. Some will tell you that your bank / ACH processor will conduct extensive due diligence prior to allowing an ACH transaction to be initiated, but this is false. At most, they will require verification of two trial deposits. Many banks don’t even require that. If I have your name, DOB and SSN, I can social engineer your bank into giving me the data of those trial deposits. Then I use an ACH pull to drain your account.Yes, you have about 60 days to notice and dispute any fraudulent transactions. If the bank verifies fraud, they will return the money to you. What they will not do is pay for all your returned check fees, late fees from missed credit card payments and all the repercussions from not having that stolen money available to you when you needed it.Anybody says they need your bank account information, think carefully. I’d tell them to suck my big toe.

I share a t-mobile account with my cousin and I want out?

In April my cousin let me join her line and we both got the new galaxy s6. We both pay 85 bucks a month, it's $50 for the line and 35 extra dollars for the phone payment. Yesterday I mentioned to her that the phone payment was a little bit pricey but I really didn't mind. Today she texted me and said if I could give my phone to her closer cousin and she could take over the payments. I said no thanks. From April to September I have paid 35 extra dollars for the phone which equals $210 and I'm just not going to give away the phone like that, so my question is can I buy the phone like completely paid off which is another 450, cancel my line with my cousin, an open a new account at T Mobile with my s6 that I paid off? I was planning on going tomorrow to T Mobile and ask about this but I just want to get some feedback before I go. Thanks in advance.
