What is the worst action that each of the last five presidents have done?

Barack Obama - Trying to work with the Republicans for the first four years of his Presidency. This resulted in too many compromises with people whose stated objective was to make him a ‘one term President’ over all else.George W. Bush - Invading Iraq. Gaining revenge for 9/11 on a power that had little to do with it made no sense, and just gained us a generation of Arabs who view America as an aggressive colonial power. That banner behind him is probably one of the most ironic things in recent history.Bill Clinton - Deregulation of the banking sector, which allowed for the banks to crash the economy with subprime lending. Previous administrations were responsible for this as well, but you’d expect a Democrat to try and do something about it. I don’t personally find his sex scandals that big a deal.George H.W. Bush - Leaving Saddam in power after the Gulf War. If ever there was an opportunity to remove him, it was after he had gained the ire of the Muslim world by invading Iran and then invading Kuwait. He had also just committed a genocide of the Kurdish people, using chemical weapons. Given that the USA intervened, it would have been sensible to remove Saddam at that point when it wouldn’t have been seen as an anti-Muslim and colonial action, as other Arab states wanted the intervention as well.Ronald Reagan - Funding Osama bin Laden in Afghanistan comes to mind. However I’d say it was acceding to the demands of the military-industrial complex and increasing the military budget by a staggering 43%, getting the country into deficit and debt, for someone who was meant to be fiscally conservative. The Iran-Contra affair was shocking as well. Generally, not a fan of Reagan though I can see why people like him.

In my book Presidents Body Counts, I urged that we judge presidents based on their humanitarian record, who saved the most lives or prevented the most deaths, and not partisanship or likeability. 1. LincolnEnded the slavery of both Blacks and California Indians. Slaves had a child mortality rate double that of free people.Defeating the Confederacy prevented planned future wars by CSA leaders to invade Mexico, Cuba, and the Dominican Republic. 2. Van BurenPrevented wars with both Britain and Mexico.Prevented California Indian genocide from happening during his term. 3. CarterHuman rights policy saved at least 50,000 dissidents worldwide and helped bring democracy to 25 nations.Rescued over 100,000 refugees from Communism, both Cubans and Russian Jews. 4. GrantPeace Policy reduced violence between the army and American Indians by 3/4 fewer battles.Ended racist violence by the KKK in Georgia and South Carolina. There was no number 5 on my list. There are some presidents who both saved many lives but also cost many lives: FDR, LBJ, Bush Sr, and Obama.  There were also the worst presidents based on the cost in lives, either deliberately or by incompetence. In order, with the deliberate ones followed by the most incompetent:Nixon, Reagan, Jackson, Buchanan, Polk, Fillmore, Clinton, Ford, McKinley, GW Bush, and Andrew Johnson.
