Tramadol Stomach Pain

Should I give my dog a pain pill on empty stomach?

I have never given any of my dogs that I've had fixed any pain medication. I wouldn't, I would leave her alone. Leave her water to drink and food to eat and let her eat and drink when she wants to.
She sounds like she's doing better than what she was doing anyway and hopefully she'll continue to get better. Just make sure she doesn't lick her stitches, then you've got a real problem.
And if she keeps throwing up, call the vet and let them know.

Where do the pain killers Naproxen and Tramadol rank on a list of most powerful pain killers?

Tramadol is a narcotic. It is a synthetic opioid. It is addictive, can be abused and when stopped suddenly after long term use can result in severe withdrawal symptoms. Don't be fooled by people who say it is not a narcotic. Also note, contrary to what the first responder has reported, there is no evidence of tramadol causing seizures, as much as lowering the seizure threshold in people who are prone to have them. It is often reported as caused seizures, due to the prescence of tramadol being a key factor in the seizure in an otherwise stable person.

Naproxen is an antiinflamatory, it would be considered reasonable for mild to moderate pain,

Tramadol is unusual in that some patients have significant relief, and others seem to have no benefit. So if you ask two separate people you may get widely varied answers. For those for whom tramadol is effective, it works as well as hydrocodone which is found in Vicodin or Norco. These in turn are similar in dose effect orally to morphine. However it takes approximately 100 mg of tramadol to equal 30 mg of hydrocodone or morphine.

Oxycontin is stronger on a dose effect level orally than morphine or tramadol.

Methadone is stronger than Oxycontin.

Fentanyl is strongest in an equianalgesic dose, but cannot be taken as an oral tablet.

Should Tramadol ER 200 mg completely dissolve in your stomach? I currently take this for chronic pain, & it came out whole.

If the transit time was fast due to irritable bowel syndrome, inflammatory conditions, cathartics, or infection it is possible to have a tough coating, but it normally doesn’t matter if it devolves in the stomach as long as it is broken down somewhere in the intestines because they are responsible for the adsorption of medicines, and nutrients. That is also why it is possible to have extended release medications. The product is designed to break down slowly to give optimal coverage of pain.

How harmful can Tramadol be on an empty stomach?

If taken on an empty stomach, tramadol may cause an upset stomach, diarrhea, nausea and/or vomiting. This depends on the dose you take, and if you typically take it or are new to it.Basically, it would help to eat a little something.

My cat is scared after taking tramadol!?

My kitty had surgery last week for an abscess and he was healing very well until he got so anxious to go outside he jumped and threw himself into my closed window and ripped his stitches! I took him to the vet first thing in the morning and he stapled his belly and prescribed 50 mg tramadol for the pain, my cat weighs abt 8 pounds. I gave him the first one when we got home from the vet since they didn't give him anything for the pain before stapling him I figured he was in pain, he fell asleep rather quickly and when I came back into the house after working on the yard a few hours he was backed into the corner of my room under my bed and wouldn't come out I had to pull him out and his eyes are completely dialated! If I walk away from him for a second he runs back under the bed and it is worrying me, why is he acting this way? I am gonna call my vet in the morning but was just hoping someone could give me some advice for now. Also, he won't meow! I haven't heard him meow since he took the first pill and only feels safe if he is completely covered in blankets with me next to him otherwise he runs under my bed to hide, is this normal? Why is he acting so strange?

Mixing Tramadol with Excedrin?

im not a doctor, so dont rely solely on my answer. but i was put on tramadol before for headaches and body aches. i also hav stomach problems. ive found a diagnosis for my body pains so im not on tramadol anymore, but when i was my doctor told me not to take exedrin with tramadol cause this can irritate my stomach more. its better to take naproxen. its a similar over-the-counter medication as exedrin, but works in a different way and is often suggested for ppl with stomach problems. exedrin is infamously known as the last thing ppl with stomach problems should take for pain.

another idea is since tramadol works by effecting chemicals/neurons in the brain to suppress pain triggers, and since the GI tract is very much linked with serotonin in the brain, it could be that the two medications together triggered an abnormal response.

better talk to ur doctor about this. but i wouldnt worry too much. its not life-threatening. u should probably try naproxen instead of exedrin.

Is Tramadol safe and the solution for pain from IBS after eating?

Although every previous answer has some aspects that is right I'd differ by saying that "I'd trust the judgement of the physician that's following you"The reason is: Yes, Tramadol for IBS pain is un-orthodox. The drug is not the first choice, Tramadol is not one of our first-line medications. I'd like to know which previous treatments you responded or not responded first...Yes, Tramadol has addictive potential. Whereas some other spazmoliytics+anxiolytics are addictive as well.I also do not know the nature of your IBS. It's clear you have serious pain but is your IBS diarrhea predominant as well??? If so, you physician might want to slow down your bowel movements and may have deliberately favored Tramadol.Duration of planned treatment is another issue. If you've been using for a few days and the plan is to use a few days more yes I'd go for it as well... To sum it up: Besides changes in diet, supplements, medications an ideal patient - physician interaction is VITAL for the treatment of IBS. If you have positive rapport with your physician, if you trust her/him completely never forget that she/he knows what she/he's talking about, ask any questions in your mind, address every issue and leave the rest to her/his capable hands.

Is topical Tramadol an effective pain medication?

Apparently it can work as a local anesthetic, and has been used successfully in this manner for post-operative pain. It is somewhat surprising given that its mechanism when taken orally is entirely different and depends on hepatic conversion into an active opiate by CYP 2d6.

How do you get prescribed Tramadol?

How do you get prescribed tramadol? You see a doctor, of course. In the US, it seems more doctors are keen on tramadol these days, as it has a lower (though still existent) potential for abuse. More doctors are also prescribing tramadol in cases where they would have prescribed a hydrocodone preparation before- for example, my mom's oncologist prescribed tramadol for pain relief from the deep bone pain brought on from Neulasta injections... though it is ineffective for this purpose. I have found it to be less consistent in its effectiveness- for some people, a small doses is incredibly effective, as much or more so than a pharmacological equivalent dose of morphine. For others, like myself, it is ineffective at doses recognized as safe. However, the fact that you've posed your question like this leads me to believe that you'd like to abuse the drug for its (worthless, in my opinion) recreational value. You're going to do what you're going to do, but you should know that most urgent care clinics and many ER's will not dispense prescriptions for opiod drugs, synthetic or otherwise, for anything short of severe injuries - broken bones, car accidents, severe lacerations. If you just want to get high, find yourself some weed.
