We are 19 and in college. I stay at home but he is away and comes home on weekends.
do you think the relationship is worth pursuing? I want to, but its hard knowing my boyfriend doesn't always trust me

How important is trust in a relationship?

Trust is probably THE most important.
To have a relationship, you don't need love. To start a relationship, you don't need to love the person. But no matter how far into the relationship you are, you need to trust them, or it's not going to work.

What are the ways to build trust in a relationship?

1. Keep Your WordWhen you say you will do something for your partner, make sure you do it. When you tell your partner you will have a date with him on Friday night, make sure you sacrifice all other commitments so that you can spend time with your partner. Such an attitude will make your partner see that you can be trusted to keep your word and he or she will trust you.2. Keep Your PromisesWhen your partner knows that he can depend on you because you keep your promises, it will make him or her grow to trust you. Hence, when you make a promise to your partner or spouse, do the best you can to keep it. If, for one reason or another, you cannot keep the promise, tell your partner and explain in detail why you cannot keep the promise, and try to honor that promise at a convenient time.3. Tell More Truths Than LiesIt is impossible to tell the truth under every circumstance because our human nature makes us lie sometimes, especially when we feel we will lose something if we speak the truth. However, in a situation where telling the truth can help to make issues clearer so that you can have a discussion to solve a problem in the relationship, it is good to tell the truth, even if it will be difficult and may cost you.4. Be Open With Your PartnerLet your partner know about everything that is going on in your life and also let him or her know about your whereabouts (especially when you make an appointment and cannot keep it). This will show to him or her that you have no secrets to hide and that can help to build trust in the relationship.5. Keep Your Partner’s SecretsWhen your partner gives you personal information about other people or tells you things about himself or herself he or she may not want other people to know, keep that information in your head and let it stay there. This will encourage him or her to tell you more secrets or to share their fears, desires, and feelings with you because they trust you.

How can a person rebuild trust in their relationship?

Trust once broken is much harder to rebuild, however if the person is truly desiring to rebuild it this can be done over time. When someone you love or are close too betrays your trust it is a difficult walk. First for yourself you need to forgive them, as forgiveness does not say what they did is okay but it frees you from the burden of carrying that pain with you. Then trust can begin if and when the person accepts responsibility for their actions that broke the trust you had in them, and asks for your forgiveness expressing a desire to rebuild that trust once again. Then for them to accomplish this these things will need to be present and consistent over time.Take responsibilityTotal honesty with you and others going forwardTransparencyRealize that once trust was broken it will take time to rebuild without pressuring you to trust fully until enough time and effort shows this will truly not occur again.Aware that what they broke they cannot expect to have you trust them immediately without any effort on their part. True apology will result in changed behavior over time allowing you to feel secure in trusting them again. We all fail and at times do things that hurt those we love and care about and lose their trust in us. However, if appropriate steps are taken in time that trust can be stronger than ever. However, whether it is or not will totally depend on their efforts made to rebuild that trust. Your responsibility for yourself is to forgive them and keep your heart open watching for those efforts.May God bless

Why do many relationships have trust issues?

A2AI think the trust issue is not about the relation or the other person. Its about ourselves. When someone has low confidence or insecurities, they have trust issues with their partners. This may not be always true but in most cases, we can generalize this. With increasing competition, fast life and bad lifestyle, the stress level has increased, giving rise to insecurities in the minds of people and I think thats the main reason for trust issues in relationship.Apart from this, lack of communication, understanding gap, lack of quality time spent together, ego issues etc can be other reasons.
