Trying To Find An Old Graphic Novel Help

How can i protect my graphic novels?

I have a copy of Watchmen bought for me in 1987, I'm not a comic book collector but a comic book lover and I have read this copy countless times, as have my dad and older brother. Recently, through some contacts that my dad has at work, I was able to meet Dave Gibbons and he not only gave me his email address and a lot of advice but offered to sign my copy of watchmen. He was rather shocked at how old and warn it was and decided to not only sign it by draw me a picture of Rorschach in it.

As though I didn't already love it enough! I have bought a new copy to replace it and now wish to retire my battered old copy in fear that it will fall apart and my picture will be ruined. So my question is, how on Earth do I protect it? Are there some sort of special protectors for graphic Novels. Obviously it isn't going to fit into a comic bag and I don't just want to stick it in a box somewhere. Ideally I'd like a nice see through plastic box which I could keep it in. Does anyone know where I could get something like this?

How do I find an old graphic novel I read? I was still in elementary, so it could be anywhere from 2005-2009. I tried looking on Google, Amazon and other places, but no luck. I don't remember the dialog, author, or title.

This is not guaranteed it it is a good start. Go to https://www.goodreads.com and sign up for a membership. Then search for a group called “What’s the name of that book?” Follow the guidelines on how to start a thread for your lost book with as much detail as possible. Wait. That’s it. It might take an hour or it might take a year but the folks here will look for it long after you’ve given up. They search across all categorpies so they can search for graphic novels or any other genre/medium within reason.Good Luck!

What set of age-appropriate Marvel graphic novels would you recommend to read to my 4-year-old son?

If you want to go with superheroes, I'd say to go classic. The old Kirby and Lee run of Fantastic Four, the first run of Avengers, classic Ditko and Lee Spider-Man, etc. Those older stories were built to appeal to a broader audience and adhered to a more strict code of conduct in storytelling, plus you'll be giving your son a foundation in the founding days Marvel Universe. Obviously, I'd note that you should to give the things a skim before showing them to your son, in case of the odd scary monster and/or super freak.

What are a few good graphic novels for children aged 5-10 years old?

Try Francoise Mouly and Art Spiegelman's recent collections of stories from well-known talents in "Little Lit" and "Big Fat Little Lit" and "Strange Stories for Strange Kids." They'll get a sampling of lots of different artistic styles and stories which they can expand upon at the local library.Lynda Barry is an amazing fictionalizer of life as a kid; "The Greatest of Marlys" (her childhood proxy character) might be a good place to start. They're a little gritty, very realistic, but have a big heart. There's a new reissue of chronological strips from "Pogo," which I loved as a kid, not having any idea of the political subtext (from "Simple J Malarkey" as proxy for Joseph McCarthy to animal substitutes for Nixon and Agnew), but it made it all worth re-reading once I figured out some of the "real life" content of life in the Okeefenokee swamp.Any George Herriman collection of "Krazy Kat" would make a fine introduction to the worlds of the imagination built around an odd "love triangle" of Krazy, Ignatz, and Offisa Pup and a lot of thrown bricks. And let's not forget Calvin and Hobbes, a classic for all agesor The Far Side, science for kids with a strange sense of humor! Once they figure out that there's a reason for each of the strange situations in these cartoons, they'll actually have learned some natural or behavioral science (or at least a bad pun).

Does a comic (graphic novel) need to be 100% completed before any submission (such as outlines, scripts, concept art, completed pages, etc.) is sent to publishers?

Depends on the publishers.Publishers interested in script only submissions is increasingly rare.A tight pitch packet with a mock cover, 8 page pilot story, and design work which was produced by the team you’re proposing for the book or series is enough for most. One thing that’s worth baring in mind is that most indie comics are creator owned and creator-owned publishing agreements might offer an advance on future sales if your team has the track record to support it but they don’t generally pay for the production. They’re investment is in the printing, warehousing, marketing, and distribution end. You cover production on your end. They cover publishing on their end. You each get a percentage from sales. This agreement generally ends in a few years at which time it’s selling well then you renew your old agreement, negotiate a new agreement, or part ways liquidating the remaining stock. So, you’re expect most to all of the cost of production to come from your pocket or fund raising either way.
