Updating Firmware From Kies Its Stuck

How do you unbrick a Samsung S5 stuck in Odin mode?

In the Android community, there are basically two types of “bricks” which can happen to your smartphone during modification of the device, usually in scenarios where the root filesystem or partitions are being altered. The worst type is of course the “hard brick:” a hard brick is defined as a smartphone which will not boot the Android OS, and will not boot into fastboot mode, recovery mode, safe mode or download mode. A hard brick also typically fails to be recognized via ADB interface with a tethered PC. Thus, most hard bricks are beyond repair. Your situation is the textbook example of a “soft brick,” whereas the device will not boot into the Android OS, but will boot into fastboot, download mode, recovery mode, or is recognized by an ADB interface with a PC or Mac. In your situation, as long as vital partitions are not corrupt or otherwise damaged, a full recovery of the device can be fairly easily accomplished.First, open your PC browser and visit sammobile.com, and download the most recent stock firmware package for your phone, by entering your device model number in the firmware search querie. Next, do a Google search and download the latest version of Odin, which is a firmware flashing utility commonly used to flash firmware packages to Samsung devices. Next, ensure you have the latest version of Samsung Kies installed on your PC, which will also install the most current USB device drivers. You will find very simple and comprehensive instructions for flashing your device with the stock firmware, using Odin, on sammobile.com. Odin requires that your device be booted into Download Mode which, fortunately, you can boot into. Good luck.

How can I update or root the Samsung Fascinate?

So a friend gave me her old Samsung Fascinate on Verizon because i broke my HTC One X and got stuck with a blackberry. I'm on AT&T so i'm using the Fascinate as an "iPod" if you will, it's not activated. It's on Android 2.1 and a lot of apps require 2.2/2.3 so I've been trying to upgrade with no luck. I tried an OTA update but it kept telling me the server is unavailable and i tried through Kies but it just says "Connecting" forever without ever connecting. I've reset the phone and tried everything but calling Verizon. I don't know if it needs to be activated to get the update or if I am too late so i tried to root it. I got so lost in instructions and download links that were expired, i gave up. So here I am now, 3 days later with hand full of hair (not really).

Is it something I am not doing right? I am not new to android but I am new to rooting and have the furthest idea how to do it apparently. Do you guys have anything i can do to update it, at least to 2.2? 2.3 would be ideal but 2.2 would be good too. Please help! I love this phone so far but I'm really missing the apps.

PLEASEEE HELP!ANDROID STUCK WHILE PREPARING FIRMWARE COMPONENTS?

I never update my firmware through OTA/online since it's risky. there are two safer ways to do it; 1. manual flashing by downloading the firmware, (Samsung USB driver if u haven't had one unless you've installed kies on ur computer)and Odin multidownloader.exe.
2. take it to Samsung service centre and this is THE SAFEST WAY.
If u intend to flash it manually, you'd better go to this link:
http://www.androidauthority.com/galaxy-s2-gt-i9100g-android-4-0-ics-xxlpq-official-93101/
IDK whether ur phone its bundled to certain network carrier or not, if yes then search on google with tag "download ICS firmware for Samsung gt-i9100g bla..bla..bla version". bla..bla..bla: ur network carrier.
God luck then!
