Violin Fingering Question

Violin fingering chart?

Please go to the music store and buy book one of a violin method book.
They most likely have several different ones. Look through them and pick the one that makes the most sense to you.
Better yet, bet a teacher.

I strongly think that you are too tense in your hand. Either consult a teacher, or try to think what you do. Take your hand and close it to a fist. The sensation is about the same. Try to remember it. The muscles in your palm are VERY important, fingers are mostly put in action because of them, so relax and try to use your palm when putting the fingers on the string. Aswell, without the violin, put your hand in an imaginary violin position and touch in turn the tip of your thumb with each of the fingers. Hand should be round and relaxed.

I need the fingerings for these violin scales?

What odd scales to ask for! I cannot help but wonder why you want these, as opposed to others. the relative majors and the key signatures would be:

B flat minor = relative major is D flat major, which is equivalent to C# major, which is seven sharps. Seldom or never used.

E flat minor = relative major is G flat major, which is equivalent to F# major, which is six sharmps Seldom or never used.

G sharp minor = relative major is B major, which is five sharmps. Used but less common than most.

In each case, the difference between the harmonic and the melodic minor is that in the harmonic version, the 7th is raised ("raised leading tone"), causing a step-and-a-half interval between the 6th and 7th step. Enharmonically, this is another minor third, and produces a eastern-European sound found in much art music. The chromatic alteration is found in both the ascending and descending forms.

For the melodic version of these minor scales, you would have the chromatic alteration of raised 6th and 7th in the ascending form, and in the descending form, the scale reverts to its "natural" state, that is, no chromatic alteration.

I'd get a violin scale book such as Hrimaly, Barbara Barber of Carl Flesh.

The reason you need a scale book is that the fingerings would differ, depending on how many octaves you want to play, in what position(s) and there are also editorial differences between different pedagoges.

A question about fingering in string instruments?

This is up to the player.

In general, you don't want to cross a string just for one note. so if you were playing all A string notes in a passage, you *might* play an open A, but if everything else was on the D string, you would play A on the D string instead.

But its not just for the open strings that you have to decide! every note above middle C# can be played more than one place on the violin. the B played 1st finger on the A string can also be played on the D string as 3rd finger in 3rd position, or 4th finger in 2nd position.. or even on the G string as 3rd finger in 7th position... there are a lot of options.

Eventually you develop an instinct for using the position that makes the notes fit efficiently into the hand, with as few shifts and frame adjustments as possible. But not everyone will agree on exactly what the best solution is. It can be personal, depending on the geometry of your hand.

Violin finger sticking problem.?

Lol. Don't worry about it.

The issue's not your violin, and it's not your fingers.

You're pressing too hard on the strings -- been there, done that. For a recent performance, I was required to press hard (purposely) for fingerings, and the pizzacato (plucking noise) noise was even picked up by the sound system.

First of all, try fingering more lightly; don't press down as hard.

Also, wait. It'll take time to become used to the instrument. Before long, you'll know your violin well enough that you don't need to try to not make the noise anymore -- the proper way to do it, without any extra plucking noises, will just come naturally.

And on a side note, just a recommendation -- never use any type of damp cloth or liquid on strings. They can cause diminished sound quality, and there's a high chance of damaging the instrument. However, if you feel they'll need to be cleaned often, you can get a string cleaning compound online or at your local music store.

=)

Where can I find violin fingering for Meditation from Thais?

I can't think of a specific reason there would need to be a fingerings engraved on the sheet music. I'd follow along with a fingering chart, and decide on which alternate fingerings work best if you have selections between strings and neck positions.
