Why do people volunteer for a charity?

I volunteer 5 days a week at an elementary by my high school for two hours each day. I love children and I want to help the community. I also want community service hours on my application for colleges when the time comes. Colleges look highly upon those who do volunteer work. Also, I think it honestly makes you a better person when you help others for no cost.

Trying to write an email looking for HR voluntary work in charities. Please read my email and help me write it better?

Sounds good to me. However you are limiting your options by being so specific. Send this email to a bunch of companies.. why just to charities?

What type of volunteer work should I do?

Helping out in general always looks good on an application. Go to www.volunteermatch.com and register. You can decide what kinds of things you will or won't do; groups in need of volunteers, either long or short term, will contact you via e-mail. Other suggestions, volulnteer work that is more difficult is going to be looked with more respect: homeless shelters, soup kitchens, hospice care. These aren't always "fun" but they are absolutely fulfilling. Most hospitals need regular volunteers for numerous jobs around the place, everything from helping patient's families find their way around, to delivering flowers to rooms. If you go to church, you can start there; all churches have volunteer opportunities, both within the church and in the community. If you aren't much of a church-goer, try a Unitarian Universalist church; they're very liberal (so if you're ultra religious it might not be for you), but they always have alot of volunteer duties in the community.

Are You allowed to Do VOLUNTEER work when you enter the USA under the Visa waiver program or Tourist B-2 Visa?

Hello Dear,
Volunteer work would be permitted as long as you received nothing, absolutely nothing, in exchange. That means no lodging, meals, uniforms, ice cream treats, nothing in return.

Your volunteer work could not involve productive work. You cannot volunteer to sweep the floor in your aunt's store, or work the cash register, for example.

You could enter to participate in a voluntary service program benefiting U.S. local communities, if you establish that you are a member of and have a commitment to a particular recognized religious or nonprofit charitable organization and that no salary or remuneration will be paid from a U.S. source, other than an allowance or other reimbursement for expenses incidental to the volunteer's stay in the United States.

Best of Luck Hun
