Were you a Michael Jackson fan? Why or why not?
Obviously Yes !! I was and still as of now am a die hard Michael Jackson fan because :He went on from leading one of the most popular and influential vocal pop group of all time , The Jackson 5 to an adult superstar who instantly became and still remains a pop culture phenomenon with the release of his album Thriller (1982) , the world’s best selling album of all time and still is which made him the most renowned celebrity and superstar in the world.He basically invented the idea for presenting music videos as a visual representation for songs and music and set the high standard that it is still now has been used by and has significantly influenced some of the other world’s biggest pop stars like : Madonna , Katy Perry , Lady Gaga , Taylor Swift , Britney Spears , and Rihanna , etc……..He donated approximately US $300 million dollars to his own foundation , Heal The World (a foundation that he himself founded) to help the disadvantage children all over the world despite being the most recognizable face on the planet and a rich pop star.He also popularized the complicated yet flexible dance moves that he didn’t even invented by himself and that alone became synonymous with one name “ Michael Jackson ’’that has been imitated all around the world.He was basically a shy person off stage (unlike his own stage showmanship personality) who loved children greatly as he felt that his own childhood in order to achieve fame (that he by then already did) was snatched away by his own family members.He is credited for breaking the racial barriers (the fact that Black American celebrities / entertainers were only overshadowed by white celebrities) through his own music videos : Billie Jean , Thriller , and Beat It whose popularity on MTV in the decade of 1980’s allowed other Black musicians to feature their own music videos on MTV channel.
Besides his influence, is Michael Jackson overrated?
This is my opinion but I don't think Michael Jackson music is overrated I sometimes think he's underrated because of bad publicity by the public and media. Reading up about Michael Jackson you can judge for yourself he was a singer, songwriter and dancer. Best selling music artist, most popular entertainer in the world, global figure in popular culture over four decades. His genres are pop, soul, funk, rhythm and blues, rock, disco, post disco, dance pop, new jack swing.1964- made his professional debut as a member of the Jackson 5 with his brothers.1971- solo career while at Motown records. Early 1980s dominated figure in popular music. Music videos Beat It, Billie Jean, Thriller - his 1982 album Thriller credited for breaking racial barriers transforming medium into art form and promotional tool. He brought MTV channel fame for his music.1987- album Bad spawned the US Billboards Hot 100 number 1 Singles I Just Can't Stop Loving You, The way you make me feel, Dirty Diana first album to have 5 number 1 singles in the nation.1990s - videos like Black or White, Scream forged a reputation as a touring solo artist, stage/video performance popularized a number of complicated dance techniques such as robot and moonwalk. His distinctive sound and styles has influenced various music genres today. 66 million copies of Thriller best selling album of all time. 1979 Off the Wall, 1987 Bad, 1991 Dangerous, 1995 History ranked among the worlds best selling album. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of fame twice, Songwriters Hall of fame, Dance Hall of fame as the only dancer from rock and pop music. Other achievement multiple Guinness world records including most successful entertainer of all time, 13 Grammy awards, Grammy legend award, Grammy lifetime achievement award, 24 American music award more than any other artist. Philanthropy and pioneering efforts in charitable fundraising in the music industry. Michael has travelled the world attending events honoring his humanitarian. In 2000- Guinness world records recognized him for supporting 39 charities more than any other entertainers. So I don't think he is overrated yes he might of lip synch sometimes but more too the end cause of his illness but he is so misunderstood.
