Was The Ham I Ate Bad

Will i die, i ate spoiled ham?

It's not very likely unless the ham was left out at room temperature (60-70F) for more than two hours. The illnesses caused by ham usually cause symptoms within 24hrs and if you are a health adult, most of the diseases are not life-threatening just uncomfortable (slight diarrhea/vomiting). Due to the high salt content of ham and modern pork raising techniques the most common illness from ham is Staph that only causes diarrhea and vomiting for a short duration (usually 12-24hrs) in most healthy adults. Unless you are very young (under 2), very old (over 60), or immuno-compromised (diabetes, HIV, AIDS, on immuno-suppressant therapy) your body will take care of itself.

I just ate Parma ham and im 14 weeks pregnant.. is it bad?? :| ?

I am sure you and baby are fine. The stress you are creating for yourself is probably worse for baby than the ham!

I was so strict with my diet and didn't eat/drink anything processed, that contained nitrates, soda, etc. I allowed myself a little more indulgences with my second child and she turned out just as well as the first.

Now go have some corned beef and stop worrying so much! Just be conscious of what you are eating and how much.

What happens if you eat too much ham?

For the past few days, I've eaten a lot of ham. Mostly because there was no other meat rather than ham. I usually eat 3 or 2 pieces of ham everyday. Breakfast and as a snack. I read an article that said when you eat too much ham, you might develop bowel cancer. I got really paranoid because I'm only 14 and I don't wanna go through surgery or death later on

Is there any risk? I can't tell you the ham nutritional facts since it doesn't say. But it's frozen and I just microwave to eat it for 30 secs, the size is about the palm of our hands but a little bit bigger

I also want TRUE answers with the reason and stuff. Please don't answer saying " lolz brah, u gonad die ".

I ate bad ham, can i get food poisoning?

Yes, you can still get it. Don't make yourself throw up. Food poisoning is your body flushing its self out, and it would do a lot better job than you can. Making your self vomit probably didn't fix that much (you can't be sure you threw up all of the bad food/bacteria in your stomach, for example). So you'll get food poisoning or you won't.

Also, if you do get it, don’t take any medication that would “help” (anti-vomiting/anti-diarrhea medications) because these things might just prolong the process by keeping the substance in your body and making it fight, when the bad food would otherwise be expelled as fast as possible. Instead, drink lots of water and get rest. If it gets bad enough, go to the hospital for antibiotics.

It's ipecac syrup that causes vomiting (not recommended for food poisoning, even by practitioners of alternative medicine).

What will happen if I ate expired ham?

is that date a "sell by" date? or is it a "best by" date? these are required by law on all edibles!! they mostly mean nothing if the food has been refrigerated most of the time since it was marked for sales purposes.

SNIFF test!! Sniff the ham! if it smells good most likely it is!
FEEL test!! Touch it! is it slimey or simply damp as should be!!

It does not "die" on the sell by or best by date! It might start getting stale next week.

Is it bad to eat meat cold?

Absolutely not! Left-over fried chicken, thinly sliced skirt steak on salads, pork lo mein, sliced turkey or ham, deli meats, bacon…all great ways to eat meat cold. I’ll just throw this tip in here since it kind of fits in with your question. I love to take 3–4 lbs of bacon, and cook it all at once. I wrap the cooked slices in paper towels, about 1/2 pound per roll, and place the rolls inside a ziploc bag. It keeps for a good long time even in the fridge, and it freezes pretty well also. The combination of it being cured and smoked help to preserve it, and the cold helps even more. Often I will just take 2–3 slices; break them in half; arrange the still cold pieces between two slices of bread; and eat that as a very tasty sandwich as is. Long story shortened…there is nothing wrong with eating meat cold, and it is a very common and tasty way to do so. Also, I completely agree about steak tasting weird after being microwaved. It gets almost like a strange iron taste to it. There is some other thing that is on the tip of my tongue that reminds me of it as well, but I can’t think of it. I know I remember cooking something a certain way, and getting that same weird flavor. I’m not sure what causes it, but I know I don’t like it. Maybe someone reading this can answer that for us as well? Anyone know what causes that flavor, or why it doesn’t happen originally?

Can a dog have a ham bone?

I am going to weigh in to this discussion because I see there are so many varying opinions. My answer may not be definitive either but I thought it was throughout my veterinary career!!In nature dogs eat raw bones from every species. They have jaw muscles and teeth that can crunch them into small pieces and digestive juices that dissolve them. They are excellent food for dogs. I had clients whose dogs lived on raw chicken carcasses. That said, cooked bones are an entirely different story. At least three times in my veterinary career I saw dogs with intestines totally blocked with a concrete like substance after eating cooked pork bones. I removed two of them surgically and the third one moved to the rectum after administering oral paraffin oil. But it was too large to pass so it was manually broken down using enemas and a thin spoon. This was much harder and slower than you would expect. It took a couple of hours so surgery might have been the faster option. It seems that cooked bones are harder to digest and cooked pork bones are the hardest. They must partially dissolve into an indigestible glue that dehydrates to form something quite solid. So my advice has been to never feed your dog cooked pork bones unless you have extra cash you are dying to spend at your veterinarian's.

How to induce vomitting after eating bad Ham?

I ate a ham sandwich about an hour ago that was questionable at the time (Im in college and broke heh). Anyways, I was sick last week and just thought it was a stomach virus so didn't even consider food poisoning until I ate the same ham. I need to induce vomiting but the finger thing won't work. My stomach contracts but I can not vomit. I have an exam at 9 AM and can not afford to be sick all night (and it already isn't looking good). Oh, and all the drug stores are closed.

I ate ham left out over night and now I think I'm getting food poisoning, what should I do?

man I hate it when this happens! A similar thing happened to me.
Ok so #1 drink water NOW. If you have food poisoning you got to keep hydrated cause you will get pretty sick and be dehydrated. Water and gatoraid will be your friends.
Curb sickness....um no you do not want to. I know you are like huh? WTF but seriously if you have food poisoning it is due to bad bad bacteria in your tummy. Your body will try to get rid of it, fast and furious (up and or down to get out) this is GOOD. GOOD body. You need to get sick and get the bacteria out. Yea it is no fun but remember this while you are hugging the throne- your body is protecting you, it is saving your life literally. Cause if the bacteria do not come out they will harm you.
If you get sick just tough it out, drink only a little soda or water or gatoraid. Don't eat for a bit until you feel better. This usually passes quickly and in a few hrs you will be ok. It will be fast and furious but keep positive and think what a great body you have that it is getting rid of bacteria that are out to harm you.
So in short. Drink water (if you get weak later on gatoraid) now and when you are sick to keep hydrated. Be prepared for fast and furious up and out and down and out, but stay positive your body is protecting you, it is natural. After a few hrs it will all pass and you will be ok. Your body is built to take care of you eating bad food once in a while.

I think my son and I ate a bit of bad meat, what now?

I've been sick and my sense of smell has been off a little, I had ground beef in the fridge and I made a meat loaf. I couldn't tell if it smelled bad and it had been in there at least a week after I bought it, but the color looked fine, so I didn't think anything of it, but after taking a few bites, I swear there was an after taste. I asked my son if it tasted wierd to him, but he had been dipping his meat in ketchup so he couldn't tell, and he's 6. So, I ate a few bites of something else and that tasted normal, I had a drink of water, and then I ate some more bites of the meat and again had that after taste of it not being right, not "rotten" taste, but just wasn't right. So almost a whole piece of meatloaf was eatn by me, and about a half a piece by my son. I threw out all the meatloaf just in case. I'm worried more about my son who is 6 than me, what can I do to help if it was bad? I made him drink a big cup of water and I did myself as well, do you think it will be ok?
