What does "buenas suerte" mean & what is the appropriate response?

Appropriate response to "I feel blessed to have you in my life"?
I just recoeved a message from an old teacher whom I still see & talk to and she has become a family friend. The message said "I feel blessed to have you in my life" I'm not sure what to reply to that... Is the appropriate response "Thank You"? Or would I say something else? Please no irrelevant responses... Thanks
I recently lost a family member. What's an appropriate response when someone says, "I'm sorry for your loss"? Do I tell them, "Thank you" for their kind words, or do I say, "It was unfortunate," or something along those lines?
