Weight Loss Issue On Contraceptives

Does oral contraceptives (novelon) makes you gain weight?

Some people experience weight gain, some don't. I believe yasmin is supposed to have the lease side effects, and is least likely to make you gain weight. For every 1000 women on the pill, 1 will become pregnant every year. Keep that in mind. It works perfectly for the other 999 though!

Is this contraceptive linked to excess thirst and weight loss! Any info appreciated?

Yeh my Dr mentioned the weight loss thing (PCOS gives ya funky hormone levels so I assume the pill evens them out or something - but only certain ones?!)

It's not a UTI - no pain, no cloudy pee, no stinging :o/

I was tested for diabetes 3 months ago and it was clear, not even pre-diabetic and my diet is healthy lol

It's more the excess thirst that worries me though - I assume I'm peeing more because I'm drinking more, but I don't get why I feel so thirsty, I only started taking the pill on Friday so I'm sure it must be linked. I was just wondering if anyone elkse had experienced it with Yasmin or other contraceptive pills, I'm seeing my Dr next week so unless I feel actually ill by then I'll leave it :]

Can contraceptive cause weight loss?

I know that contraceptives can cause endocrine disruption, and usually weight gain.If you’re experiencing weird symptoms whilst using them, consult a holistic doctor, or a conventional doctor who uses integrative medicine. If you’re planning on using them to lose weight, that’s a really really bad idea. I used them and they helped to make me quite ill. Google the name of different contraceptives e.g. mirena, dianette, yas, yasmin etc. and the words lawsuit, problems, reaction.

Do contraceptive pills cause weight gain and hair loss?

Birth control pills can cause hair loss in women who are especially sensitive to the hormones the pill contains or who have a family history of hormone-related hair loss.Hair normally grows in cycles. Anagen is the active phase. During this phase, your hair grows from its follicle. This period can last for two to seven years. Catagen is the transitional stage when your hair growth stops. It lasts for about 10 to 20 days. Telogen is the resting phase. During this phase, your hair doesn’t grow. Between 25 and 100 hair is shed daily in this phase, which can last for up to 100 days.Birth control pills also cause weight gain as a temporary side effect that's due to fluid retention, not extra fat. If at all weight gain happens, it is generally minimal and goes away within 2 to 3 months. For more on Health and Beauty, follow us on BestKhadi and PureNaturals!

What is the best birth control pill for weight loss?

I am going back on the pill and I am very worried about gaining weight because I struggle with keeping my weight where it's at now. I am very active and watch what I eat. I used to be on yasmin and I don't remember having any side effects with that.

My doctor now prescribed me with loestrin 24fe and I was wondering what peoples experience with that was - weight gain.... weight loss and would they recommend it? any help would be appreciated- thanks!

Losing weight while on birth-control.?

Ok so last month i went on birth control and before that i gained 4 pounds for eating ihop alot (yes i know but i couldn't say no to those pancakes lol)
Anyways, i stopped eating the type of food and started exercising, but i got on birth control too then i gained another 5 pounds since then.

No matter what im doing/use to do to lose weight i just keep gaining and i am so confused about this.
My friend said that birth control does make you gain weight due to the hormones etc but i keep gaining weight even though i am eating less and exercising 5 days a week (i have to exercise alot to lose weight, that's how my body works sadly)

I have to lose this weight before april 5 b/c i will going to the navy's bootcamp i need to be 177 and under.

My question what should i do different while on birth control, or should i stop using it? i just went on it b/c i am sexual active and didn't want to get pregnant b/c i know i will be leaving soon. Or is there a diet pill i can take while on birth control to help me shed the 9 pounds i want to lose while i am doing the same thing which is exercising, drinking water and eating less?

Thank you

Do emergency contraceptive pill cause a weight gain?

The weight gain from hormonal contraceptives is caused by fluid retention, not actual fat, and tends to go away after you stop taking the pills. It takes a while to show up after you start, too.So no, one emergency contraceptive pill would not cause you to gain weight. You’ll just feel like shit for a little due to a sudden spike in hormones.

What is the best birth control pill for acne and weight loss?

Certain birth control pills containing norgestimate (Ortho Tri-Cyclen) and drospirenone (YAZ) have been FDA approved the treatment for acne. However none of the birth control pills cause weight loss. One contraceptive—the Depo Provera injection has been known to cause significant weight gain.

Are there any birth control pills that cause weight loss?

I never said that I'm taking pills to 'lose weight' and I do know that they are more likely to cause weight gain so i asked this question. I'm taking it because I have irregular periods, but I'm willing to try a birth control if there is one that could cause weight loss, instead of weight gain.

What methods of contraception do couples that live together use? Have there been any horror stories (unwanted pregnancies, health issues, weight gain, etc.)?

They use whatever form of contraception works best for them.Sometimes that’s condoms. Sometimes it’s condoms with spermicide. Sometimes it’s condoms with the pill. Sometimes it’s the sponge. Sometimes it’s a diaphragm. Sometimes it’s a diaphragm with a condom. Each couple has to look at their sex life and their particular issues (reactions to hormones, latex allergies, etc.) to decide what works for them. There is no handbook that states “This is what couples who live together will use for contraception”.I’ve been on the pill for decades. Yes, there were a couple ‘scares’ but nothing came of them. Other than that, I’ve had no issues. The question is almost begging for “horror stories” which makes me think it may not be phrased in the correct way.Perhaps it should have been “What are your stories against birth control for couples who live together?”
