Why do MOST bollywood (Indian) films SUCK?
Most of them seem to lack depth, innovative stories, creativity and art...They are all ridiculously LOUD and crazy films with singing and dancing...The singing and dancing is fine since it's a cultural thing, by why do most of the films lack depth and meaning? also I must note that the few films, every year, that DO have innovative style, depth and meaning, go UNNOTICED and do badly in the Indian box office...Does this mean the audience has bad taste? The Indian films that are actually of international standards (Black Friday, Udaan, Maqbool, Dhobi Ghat, Phas Gaya Re Obama, Khosla Ka Ghosla) get ignored in India... Also great hollywood films like Schindlers List, A Beautiful Mind, Inception, No Country For Old Men, seem to confusing or boring to most Indians (In India) that I have spoken to...Does this mean, not to jump to conclusion but, Indians lack depth and the ability to dig deeper? When mindless comedies can work in India, why can't films that have some meaning, quality and depth? Is the audience to be blamed?
Where do i start with bollywood films?
It depends on what type of film you enjoy. If you enjoy more serious films with few or no musical numbers watch films like Omkara, Maqbool, Taare Zameen Par, My Brother Nikhil, Page 3, Chameli etc. If you want big Bollywood blockbusters try Devdas, Veer Zaara, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam etc. For action films watch Kaminey, Aamir etc. Some must see films of all time are Mother India, Mughal-e-azam, Sholay and Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge. You can also ease into Bollywood by watching Indian films in English like Deepa Mehta's Elements trilogy (Fire, Earth and Water), Monsoon Wedding, and anything by Aparna Sen.
How popular are Bollywood movies in China?
Traditionally Indian movies were not that popular among the Chinese audience.But this trend was challenged and changed by one of the living legends and pioneers of Bollywood.Yes,you guessed it right.He is Mr Aamir Khan.And this trend was started with his movie 3 Idiots released back in 2009.3 Idiots has collected approx 50 crores in the markets of China and Hon Kong. It was considered as the first Bollywood movie to have left a mark in China both commercially and critically.Experts said the subject of the film, which dealt with the gaps in the education system, resonated with the audiences in South East Asia and China, leading to a roaring collection.Then again there was not any particular movie to have made a considerable presence in China until 2014 .Yes It was Aamir khan again with his Satirical God and God man Movie PK. It again set the record of the first Bollywood movie to have earned 100 cr in the Chinese market.It has also made its presence felt at the Taiwan and Hong Kong Markets.Then again after PK these was no such movie of note that made any commendable performance in China until 2017. And yes it was the same man again but this time the success was extravagant which made the earlier successes dwarf like in comparison.Till today this film has earned a whooping 1600 + Cr Worldwide and out of which it has earned close to 850 Crs in China itself which interestingly is much higher than the 515 Cr it has earned in India. This itself explains the the appreciation and kudos that this movie got from the Chinese audience.Dangal was release in India and worldwide on 23rd December 2016.It was released on may 2017 in China ,dubbed as ‘Shuai Jiao Baba’ meaning ‘Let’s Wrestle, Dad’ in English.Thanks

The 2002 Bollywood movie "Aankhen" is a remake of which Hollywood movie?
This movie, when released was claimed as being inspired from some play. But, I checked up on a movie - Blind Rage(1978),its a low budget type movie, with exactly the same theme.Actually I had seen this years ago on Doordarshan, and watchin Aankhen did ring some bells. I guess the play was copied from this movie then.
Bollywood movies like Dil Bole Hadippa?
I really enjoy that movie but am having a time finding other Bollywood movies with the same feel. I guess I'm looking for the comedies. So hit me with any suggestions!
