What Are Chances Of Pregnancy Close To The End Of A Dams Cycle And She Allowerd The Sire To Lock

Can a female dog get pregnant by two different males?

Yes. Years ago, near where I lived - a breeding was going on of Walker Hounds, beautiful dogs. Anyway, one was born, looking like a Doberman. That dog immediately went to the local pound. Someone adopted him and he was passed along until he was mine. Everyone knew the dog, he was famous because people just couldn’t keep a secret about the litter. He was my doggie for 19 years. One day he was crying at the door. I opened the door and he stood there like.. he wanted me to come with him. I sat on the step with him barefoot and we prayed together. He would bow his head when I prayed. When I was done, reciting the 23rd Psalm, I asked him if he would like to walk together. We knew that he had lung cancer. As I turned to grab my shoes, he took off like a bolt. I never saw him again, I think he was leaving to go die alone. I don’t think he wanted me or my children to see him die.Four years later, I was in the same house, and I was running the vacuum in the living room. My four year old, pre-K daughter screamed - don’t run over the big doggie, Mom! I looked at her. And I asked, what does the doggie look like. She said he’s black and tan. No one had ever told her, that his favorite spot was in front of the fire place at night, and that’s where I was working. I believe he stayed with our family for a very long time. I still miss him very much.

If a dog is already pregnant, can a male dog still want to mate with her?

The majority of the answers are correct, a female dog that is truly pregnant is no longer in “heat” and therefor will not attract males nor stand for them to be bred. All dogs however do hump as a form of domination and that has nothing to do with mating or making babies. I did notice that no one mentioned that a female dog can be bred by multiple males and produce puppies from several different males, so the puppies have one mother but they can each have different fathers. Hopefully the poor female has not been left outside where all these males can take their turn with her. Please remember to spay and neuter your pets, there are far too many animals in need of loving homes to find it necessary to breed dogs and cats. ALSO, there is an old wives-tail that a female should be allowed to have at least one litter of puppies, that is wrong. Waiting until the animal is old enough to breed only makes it less likely she will have any sort complications from the spaying because her organs are grown. Females dogs who are spay too early can have problems with incontinence, but that is as much an issue with an inexperienced or over confident veterinarian as it is with an immature dog. Spaying/neutering an animal not only prevents unwanted pregnancies and behavioral issues but it greatly reduces their risk of many types of cancer.

Do dogs have to be in heat to get pregnant?

Yes.  Most female dogs will come into heat, also called in season, once or twice a year, though the timing can vary a great deal. The first sign your dog is coming into season will be a bloody discharge from the vulva.  You might not see this if she is meticulous in cleaning herself or has only a slight amount or discharge.  The discharge will continue for several days but will lighten to a transparent or pale straw colour. At the same time, her vulva will swell, and her behaviour may become erratic, goofy, or "bitchy."From the first hours of her heat period beginning, the boys will begin to take notice, whether neutered or not.  For most of her heat period she will scorn and scold them, but about a week in, after the discharge has lightened, she will become fertile and will generally permit breeding. For much more detailed information, you might find this site useful: http://www.vcahospitals.com/main...

Is it illegal to walk on the road with no sidewalks in the U.S.?

No, it is generally not illegal to walk on the road with no sidewalks, unless it is posted as such. Contrary to some responses, there are places where pedestrians are allowed to walk on the interstate, but I would avoid this, if at all possible. When you walk on a road with no sidewalks, it is best to walk in the direction that is opposite of the traffic. In other words, you want to be able to see the cars that are coming towards you. This way, if a vehicle does something crazy, you at least have a fighting chance to get out of the way. Also, make sure that you walk as close to the edge of the road as you can, to allow the vehicles to get around you. People are crazy and get annoyed when someone blocks their way while driving. In regards to the crosswalk, if there is a light, but no crosswalk signal, go with the light as if you were a driver, but watch for vehicles coming your way. If there is no crosswalk, you follow the same rule at a signal. If you are not at a signal, then you need to yield to the other vehicles before you cross. Once you are in the roadway, generally, they should give you the right of way. I wouldn’t trust that though. It seems in Idaho, that you just become a target. For your information, the design standards are getting better in regards bicycle and pedestrian mobility and accommodations. We are generally building wider shoulders for pedestrians, or even sidewalks and bike lanes for the bicyclists. If they decide to rehabilitate the roadway, under certain circumstances, they will be required to provide these accommodations.
