What Are Places To See In Ooty How Much Do Buses Autos Etc Charge To Go Around

Can I find Ola or Uber services in Ooty?

Unfortunately no as it is a hilly terrain and fixing prices on the meters is quite difficult.Ola and Uber could bring in their services to Ooty but it will take another couple more years.Plenty of Auto rickshaws available for local travel, they are a bit pricey but currently this is what we have. You can also hire cabs from the hotel/cottage you’re staying at to help you sight see in and around Ooty, Coonoor, Kotagiri, Pykara, Mudumalai etc.

How much will it cost to take a month long trip around India?

This would be my dream tour of India, if I am seeing it for the first time. It aims at covering different faces of India in just a month. It starts from New Delhi, covers 18 other destinations of India and ends at New Delhi. Overall, the budget would lie somewhere around $1000. Edit1: After suggestions, I am adding another $250 over and above the $1000 for miscellaneous costs like travelling via cabs within various cities. Assumption lies that one would be using public transport or shared vehicles wherever possible.Edit2: Some people have suggested me to add destinations from the North-East. The reason why I haven't done is that a trip to one or two particular spots in the North-East won't justify the beauty that lies there. One needs to spend atleast 2 weeks to get a feel of that place. Also, going to North-East will be quite time-consuming which will affect the following itinerary by a great extent. Route: New Delhi -> Amritsar -> Srinagar -> Leh -> Manali -> Agra -> Jaipur -> Ahmedabad -> Mumbai -> Goa ->  Allepey -> Kanyakumari -> Madurai -> Hampi -> Puri -> Kolkata -> Gangtok -> Bodhgaya -> Varanasi -> New DelhiAssuming that one is travelling by a 3-tier AC coach in a train or by AC Bus to everywhere, he/she would be roughly required to spend Rs.1000 X 19 = Rs.19,000 or roughly 320 USD. Assuming that 10 nights are spent during travelling in trains or buses, that saves 10 nights in Hotel. Which implies roughly 20 nights in hotel @ Rs. 600 per night, costing another Rs.12,000 or roughly 200 USD.Now, assuming 2 meals per day and Rs.200 per meal and add another Rs.200 for refreshment, bottled waters, cigarettes, etc., amounting to Rs.600 per day or  that implies Rs.18,000 or 300 USD. So, that amounts to Rs.49,000 or just 820 USD for a 30 day trip. In case you are finding this expensive, maybe you can use sleeper coaches and non-AC buses to save some 100 USD. Also, costs can be cut by using homestays/ISKCON Temple/Gurudwaras, etc. Adding some images from the route map. A. New Delhi, NCR  B. Amritsar, Punjab C. Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir D. Which is the best way to travel to Coimbatore to Ooty?

You would be amazed by the scenery that nature has to offer on a road trip from Coimbatore to Ooty. You can start from Coimbatore preferably late afternoon, reach Mettupalayam and then take the Kotagiri road. More scenic and less traffic. If you’re lucky, you can even spot deer on the way or sometimes elephants. Now, there is a small village named Aracode, some 4 kilometers before reaching Kotagiri. Take thus route and wander through the tea estates spread all over the land, ponds, birds, tree houses and what not. Drive towards Catherine falls, takes an 1-kilometer trekking through tea plants and natural gardens to reach the falls, which is totally worth it. There’s also a vlley nearby, don’t forget to visit it too. Some photos that I took:(Road to Catherine falls)(View from the valley)(Another one)(Catherine falls, the water is so pure here)From Kotagiri, continue on the road to Ooty. There are pretty good places to visit like Dottabetta, Ooty Lake, Pykara Lake and botanical garden. For the return journey, you can start from Ooty and travel via Coonoor, Mettupalayam and reach Coimbatore. There is also morning train that leaves around 7 A.M. from Mettupalayam to Ooty. That is the best train journey you will experience in the whole south India. But the downfall is that you have to reserve the tickets three months prior to the journey date. Summer is the best time to travel.(Train journey to Ooty - not shot by me!)Hope this helps.Happy Journey :)Thanks for reading!

Which is the best way to travel from Bangalore to Ooty: drive your own car or take a bus and rent a car in Ooty?

Hi,Sorry but this is going to be a little blunt. Use public transport please. I speak for all the locals here. We are fed up of the traffic caused because of the tourists. Reckless driving, and more than half of them do not know how to use half clutch. SMHDONT BE THAT PERSON.And if you are from Karnataka you are hated, blame it on the other tourists. If you do end up driving to Ooty, please follow rules. Don't be surprised if a bunch of TN43 registered vehicle owners flip you off if you do not follow rules. We have a tendency to do that and much worse (read teach you a little bit of driving)You can always hire cabs, No self drive cars are available in ooty. Take a walk on the Ooty roads, you experience much more than sitting inside a machine. You got tongas as well.Cheers
