What Are Some Global Businesses Gone Into Cessation

What is the solution for the Global food shortage?

I think the main problem in the emergency part of situation lies in the political structures of the third world governments, where the war lords or generals refuse to allow aid workers safe passage to the people in need of emergency food aid.

Transportation is also a problem, both for emergencies and to more effectively utilize the sub-optimal locations that the world's poorest people tend to find themselves living.

Let's be realistic. People who live in regions of the world where it is relatively easy to grow food do that and tend to not go starving unless there is political strife, repressive systems like former soviet or north korean style communism, or natural disasters. When free-ish markets operate in places where production is possible, people will naturally prioritize the production of food and distribute it effectively.

But the poorest people in the world are often victims of repressive governments or live in areas of the world where it is extremely difficult to grow locally. These people depend on transportation and trade to get access to food.

One harsh outlook would be to say that those who are unable to overthrow the repressive governments and establish more equitable systems for growing food or trading for it are doomed to hard lives and starvation. The argument would be that they are poor for a reason, in that they are incapable of organizing and revolting etc. But we all know from history, that often it is the effectiveness of the harsh regimes and the controls they place on the people that prevent the kind of education and opportunity that enables its people to rise up in their own interests. People everywhere are capable of learning and adopting systems of government that will allow them to be productive if they are given the chance.

So the UN might wish to work harder at identifying the root causes of poverty in the third world and work to establish an international standard for access to education and opportunity, and negotiate with the repressors of the citizens of the third world to try to open their societies to more of both.

This will be met with some opposition of course, by those leaders cruel enough to not want the changes necessary for their people to thrive. It might take the leaders of the prosperous nations to pledge certain assistance or benefits to third world nations for participating in these fundamental goals.

How long does it take for carbon dioxide to disperse?

I think the answer your after is 100 years (ive seen it referred to in reports before), but thats probably based on a big fat assumption by someone as we dont yet fully understand the various sinks. Scientists recently found the deserts are obsorbing co2 more than was ever though, and parts of the sea are acting as huge sinks but no one knows why

What will it be like if all nations come together and form a global government?

Bertrand Russell in the 20th century was one of the first persons to talk about this possibility. If such a scenario happens the first positive effect will be a cessation of all wars (or even a possibility of wars). The billions of dollars spent on weapons and weapons related technology will come to a halt . Money could be spent on global human development including poverty alleviation and globalisation will proceed unhindered and this will bring about undreamt of prosperity to the whole world.Let us hope that at some point in the future (not too far off) this scenario happens.

Do you think global warming a real phenomenon that will affect you in your lifetime?

Is it worth doing something about it now? Why or why not? What type of action is necessary, if any? Do you think there is enough attention given to what many consider the biggest crisis facing mankind? What, if anything, are you willing to give up to deter global warming and ozone depletion? Please explain your opinion.

What makes a tobacco plant or part of a tobacco plant considered not to be market worthy? What happens?

to the plants and plant parts that do not make it to market, manufacturing/production to become Tobacco Products. Are the "Non-Worthy" plants used in the making of any other products? Are they sold on the "Black Market" in some countries? Who oversees this process to make sure procedure of whatever kind is followed? If you think that it is either our Agricultural, FDA, DEA, AFT Agencies, you would be wrong. So who does? As of 2005, inspection of tobacco was made voluntary. I'm fairly certain that this being the case with the Tobacco Crops that are classified top-notch enough to make the market, that no-one is asking that the crop that they don't consider, again, Market Worthy doesn't even get noticed as far as Inspection is concerned? Since this product long ago took over the sanity and reason of all involved with it, I would almost bet, the waste tobacco plants are used for something. What is that? Thanks.

What would happen if the United States stopped the importation of all goods and services from China tomorrow?

You're probably thinking that removing China from the equation will "help" the US economy by bringing more jobs back to the US. People who have this kind of logic are missing half of the picture. Yes, such a move will bring manufacturing jobs back to the US, but what about everyone who don't work in manufacturing? American factory workers will no doubt be happy, because their earnings and job prospects are now better. But for everyone else, their everyday goods (clothes, appliances, electronics, furniture, tools, etc) will be much more expensive, possibly many times more expensive. So in effect, such a policy would increase the income of manufacturers while reducing the disposal income for everyone else.As a matter of fact, US businesses will start to suffer as well, because China manufactures a lot of intermediate goods too, like steel, construction material, building modules, etc. If these all become much more expensive, it'll significantly raise the costs of producing goods, maintaining equipment, and constructing infrastructure. All of this means that hiring of US workers will stagnate and economic growth will slow. Finally, from China's point of view, without the US market as an export location means that Chinese workers will be making far less. This means that they'll also have less disposal income, and will respond by purchasing less goods, especially those imported from the US since US-manufactured goods are more expensive. In other words, stopping trade with China is a double-edged-sword; the US will stop importing Chinese goods, but also reduce much of its own export potential.See, it's always tricky when making economic policy, because there's simply no policy that's 100% good for everyone. It's always a tradeoff. Are you willing to reduce the quality of life for most American people just to help American manufacturers? If so, then go for it.
