That really depends on your interests in business. Are you wanting to work in Finance, Accounting, Marketing, etc? The MBA is a pretty standard degree for management for a reason. If you are looking for an alternative for general management degrees, I would look at a MS in Strategic Management, MS in Organizational Leadership, MS in Industrial Psychology, or anything that you might find that is similar.

Is accounting a good degree for a future entrepreneur?

Accountants understand the mechanics of business and this is why accountants have good insight into how a company functions as they know the ins and outs of a business as it relates to finance. That’s why they can help make business decisions. They are perfectly placed to advise on taking a calculated risk, maximizing a business return or taking a more practical approach in order to keep business stable.Every business needs an accountantAccountants know how to maximize resourcesAccountants are trusted to make sound expert financial and business decisionsInvestors will likely have more confidence in your ability to maximize their investment.if you are an accountant. What would i have more job opportunities with? a accounting or economics degree?

If they are the same level degree (Associates, Bachelors, etc.) then accounting will probably have more jobs opportunities. It's a more practical degree because it teaches you how to do something quantifiable. That is, you have a specific skill. If you study economics, you'll have a nice degree, but it's more abstract. You'll be a thinker, studier, maybe a researcher. When searching job postings and want ads I always see accounting jobs, but can't recall seeing anything specifically for economics degrees other than teaching.

Are college degrees from other countries valid in USA?

i think it does and for the first poster im sure his degree did help him in terms of being an accountant

I know my friend is from Africa and he has a teaching degree and he was able to take classes at the graduate RN level here so yeah it depends but it wont hurt also if youre bilingual in Asian/Spanish it doesnt hurt

I am a graduate student of business from Nepal, and want to be a CPA in the USA. Is this possible?

Yes--you can obtain a foreign transcript evaluation to translate your education into the US system. I worked with several people from Europe at my last firm who went through this process. It may be a surprise how many (or how few) US credits your courses will translate to.For the people I knew, most of them had to complete a masters degree in the US to qualify for the license. In my state, you can take the CPA exam with only 120 credit hours, but must reach 150 credit hours to receive the license. This allows you to take the exam before completing your education. It is important that you do the transcript translation first, as you will need to determine what type of credits you need to earn more of (accounting, business, or general) to meet the requirements. My company hired coworkers who still needed more credit hours, and my coworkers attended evening classes over several years to complete their education requirement. However, the company was only willing to hire these people because we specialized in clients from the same European country, and needed employees who were native speakers of the language.A bigger problem may be finding an employer willing to pay for the cost of sponsoring a work visa.

Is business a hard major?

My observations and experiences indicate Business is one of the easier majors. Of course this highly depends on the college and your acedemic goals (GPA, etc.).Beyond the recruiting I have done (mostly Engineering, some Business), I earned a Mechanical Engineering Degree from a middle-rank college and worked my tail off to achieve a 3.67 GPA and I earned a Masters Degree in Business from RPI, a high-middle rank college and found it much easier to achieve a 4.0 GPA. That said, I have no experience with the myriad of liberal arts degrees, other than my observations of others.

Are there any useful bachelor’s degrees other than computer science?

If you ambition in life is to be a drone, capturing an every great number of prestigious credentials to recommend you for a caretaker role of other people’s wealth, then computer science is an excellent choice of major, preferable with an MBA attached to it.I think we should give honorable mention to Accounting, Law, Medicine and the Engineering disciplines. On the other hand, perhaps the one formal academic offering that served Steve Job was a class in calligraphy, which is why you are reading this in Times Roman and not a green phosphor proportional typeface.Elon Musk has two bachelors degrees; neither in automotive design, electrical engineering, rocket science or accounting. In spite of this, Musk makes cars, batteries, rockets and helped design an alternative banking system in the form of Paypal. You will have a comfortable life if you have the right kind of credentials, and by that I mean that if you are lucky enough to go your entire career without having your chosen industry disrupted out of existence. The other way lies either subsistence, unimaginable wealth and sometimes a little space in between, but its the product of a diverse education that encompass science, technology and the humanities.Everyone has to make their own choice.
