What are some dramatic, intense, angry-sounding pieces for the solo violin?

Now, even though these aren't all for solo violin, they all may be performed equally excitingly on a solo violin as with their traditional settings.

Hmm... one of my favorites is the first movement of Eugene Ysaye's Violin Sonata No. 2:

Aside from that, you have the Presto im Moto Perpetuo from Barber's Violin Concerto:

Hmm... I guess you could also mention the last movement of Corigliano's Violin Concerto, "The Red Violin". Now *there's* a cool piece of music, and there's a better recording than this on a Naxos label CD. Give it a chance if you don't like it at first!

All the best.

Dramatic FEMALE monologues from plays?

a great monologue i performed was "sugar" from Miguel Pinero's Outrageous. Sugar is a drug addict and is being badly treated by her pimp and she's calling out to her dead mother for help. very dramatic but an INCREDIBLE monologue if performed properly, major goosebumps every time i saw it. nothing profound about it, but it should be performed shaky to show fear/sadness. i think if you performed this you would get the role immediately.
break a leg!

What are some dramatic music?

Gustav Holst’s magnificent orchestral suite, “The Planets” op. 32. It grips one’s balls from the very beginning of movement 1: Mars, Bringer of War, then flings you to many different extremes of mood in subsequent movements. The music of prog-metal group Epica can be pretty awe-inspiring as well.

What are some good non-romantic intense drama novels?

One of my favourites is The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas (père). This utterly gripping tale of revenge and retribution starts off with a bit of romance but love is never the central theme. In fact, I'd say there's no room for love in this story whatsoever. All the movie adaptations of this story insert a lot of gratuitous "mush" in it, in the form of a love story, completely ruining the effect. The scene changes with a lot of regularity, so the story never gets boring, and one never "misses" love. The subplots have some love stories, but there is a lot of tension there, and no respite. The final resolution to the protagonist's misfortune in love isn't satisfying for the reader who needs romance to enjoy a book. In fact the ending has a bit of a shock factor which might disturb some readers, but for the life of me, I can't think of a better way to tie loose ends and let us bid the protagonist good-bye with a satisfied heart! You might also want to try dystopian worlds like those in Brave New World and Nineteen Eighty-Four.BNW features a lot of sex, but none of it is pleasant or appealling to the reader. Nineteen Eighty-Four as well has an extremely awkward sex scene, although the faint attempt at romance is slightly endearing. In fact, at the risk of revealing a spoiler, one can say that romance is the undoing of the protagonist! The horror that awaits the couple in question as punishment for their abbreviated romance, has the ability to put off the most hardened rom-com connoisseur! And then there's always Black Mischief, where the hero actually ended up eating his lover, but let's save that for another day...Thanks for the A2A!

Dramatic Movie Music?

There's a certain song that play's in a lot of movies, and I'm tryin to find it for a school powerpoint. I don't remember which movies it's in, but I know it goes like this: DUM DUM-DUM DUM (boom boom) DUM DUM-DUM DUM (boom boom) DUM DUM Dum DUUUMMM DUUUMMM DUM Dum... (boom boom)

It's very intense-sounding, but not spooky. Think you can help me out?
