What Are Some Of The Historical Inaccuracies In The Godfather Movie

What are some of the historical inaccuracies in the Godfather movie?

In other words, what were some of the things that were not likely to happen to a New York City Mafia that happened to the Michael's mafia family in the movie?

What is the best historically correct mafia movie?

From all of the mafia movies I've watched such as ''Goodfellas'',''Scarface'',''Casino'' and ''The Godfather'', I would say the most 'historically correct' movie would be, ''Goodfellas.'' The story was a good portrayal of one of the five families, I think the ''Lucceni'' family, and how it focuses on the rise of a young boy from Brooklyn to the senior designation in the family. It basically shows the relation of the young man between two other family affiliates and his rise to gangster and fall to a police informant; however the movie is more interesting than I have poorly described.
The movie ''Casino'' is also a good mafia movie, however it's more focused on the main protagonist running the casino which the mafia funds and expects profits from. Yet, he also runs into many dilemmas along the story which involves mafia activity such as pleasing the main bosses and trying to avoid the heat of his friend whom of which is trying to rule the streets of Las Vegas by extortion. This movie also shows the rise of the main character to a casino owner and fall back to a gambling book-keeper. However, in the movie it says that some of events took place, so from a historical point of view, it may not be factually correct.
Even though ''Scarface'' is not a mafia movie, it does give some insight about the rise and fall of the main character Tony Montana. However, it's mainly about drug dealing and the distribution of drugs in the 1980s.
For the ''Godfather'' series, they're pretty good movies and actually show how organized crime occurred in the 1950s. I'm not sure if it was historically correct in reference to the characters and families concerned but it definitely gives a vivid portrayal of the mafias existent in the 1950s.
If you're a gamer, you could also try playing some mafia video games such as the game ''Mafia'' itself or even ''L.A. Noire''. My recommendation for movies though would be ''Goodfellas''.
Good luck on your paper, and don't forget to rate best answer :)
