What Are Some Really Good And Trustworthy Casting Sites

Is Starnow.com a trustworthy site?

I have been a member of StarNow for about 18months and have had a lot of auditions and jobs through them especially since the beginning of 2010. So in my experience StarNow.com is totally legitimate, more than other casting websites I think. There was one casting call that I thought seemed dodgy so I emailed StarNow about it, they investigated it more and got the filmmakers to add more information to the casting call so that it all made sense. I ended up applying and was a supporting character in a really good quality short film.

There are some other good sites around too but I definitely prefer StarNow as I've had consistently good experiences with them. Hope this helps :)

Can someone name me good and trustworthy agents/agencies for movie castings in the USA/UK?

Assuming you mean talent agencies, in the U.S., one usually hires a Casting Director who is signatory with Breakdown Services. They will post the project particulars and legitimate agencies will submit talent to them. For lead roles / name actors, the CD will contact the actor's agent to negotiate interest on your behalf. Money spent on a good CD will pay for itself in a balanced and appropriate cast for all but the tinyest budgets.Unless packaging a larger film with names, it's unusual to only deal with one agency, and if you try to do so with the top 3 as a new independent, they are likely to ask for your Casting Director… and they will definitely ask about your budget and if it's not in place not going to get the call returned. Casting directors generally will not work on your behalf without pay. It's also worth mentioning that there's quite a bit of buzz in the Indie World about getting letters of intent or attachments of main actors in order to secure funding. This does happen, but it's extremely rare and when it does happen it's usually because of a personal relationship with the Talent OR the filmmakers are already on the rise and quite notable or maybe even very established and making a small personal project film. Normally it's going to be a pay or play situation to get someone notable to even read your script. If you have adequate seed money that way you can go about casting but prepare to lose all that money if you don't get the film funded. If you deal directly with a smaller or “talent mill" type agency, they will flood you with options even on a micro budget but you will have to sort the mess out yourself. If a producer has no casting / audition process experience, I think that's like trying to cook a very specific menu with whatever you happen to find in someone else's refrigerator. That's how it works in my experience and observation in the U.S.

Is it reasonable to pay for websites like backstage casting?

Hello! Pre-warning, I work at Backstage and may, therefore, be pretty biased, but here’s a breakdown that an old colleague of mine wrote up about why legitimate online casting sites like ours and others are worthwhile for actors:—There are a handful of trustworthy casting websites online. Backstage is one of the good ones. But there are lots of scams in show biz, so you should always Google reviews before signing on to any service.Backstage has been around since 1960 and is one of the most trusted resources for actors in the world. In addition to publishing a weekly magazine for actors, our casting platform includes a messaging service, a digital profile, an auditions calendar, entertainment-industry resources, and access to over 6,000 roles for projects actively casting across the U.S.—with new roles being added 24/7. The talent database is searched by filmmakers and casting departments over 2 million times a month. Here’s a list of popular actors who have used Backstage: www.backstage.com/testimonialsWe’re also 100x better than sites like Craigslist because the casting details are personally checked by a team of Backstage's editors. Mistakes are fixed, updates are made constantly, and scams are quickly banned. If you see something fishy, you can always message our customer service department via Facebook.Other trusted websites for actors include Actors Access, Casting Networks, Casting Workbook, Cast It Systems, Reality Wanted, and Audition Update. And there are also casting companies such as Central Casting and Grant Wilfley Casting, which are a different type of business—they're not websites that actors sign up to view and apply to casting calls. Instead, they're actual casting offices that cast background actors for major films and TV shows (and the casting directors at these companies post their casting calls on sites like Backstage.com).If you're interested in acting work, you should definitely look into reputable casting companies like Backstage and the companies above. They're legit, and (actually) monitor their casting notices.

What are some good horoscope sites?

I have used many astrology apps in the past 2 years and have been more or less disappointed with the prediction or the service. Some were having useless astrologers who don’t even know how to see dashas and then on some websites I got cheated by paying in advance and never got a proper service. Then I got a reference of AstroTalk from one of my colleagues and I am yet to be disappointed again. The service of Astrotalk is flawless. I being a developer also love the way the app has been designed. UI UX of the app is a killer and is very easy to use and ask anything from the astrologer by click of a button.I tried asking queries in the beginning and got a detailed answer with planetary positions within 1–2 hours which was fairly quick when they are answering manually by an expert astrologer. Recently I tried their other services for report and that was awesome. I ordered a 3 years report and they covered all aspects from health, wealth, career, love and marriage for the next 3 years with mahadashas and antardahas. The answer was too the point and there was no computer generated content. I was really happy with the answer and then I got a message from customer support asking me for the feedback and I told them it was really good but they asked if they could do more and I asked couple of doubts. To my surprise, they sent an update on that within an hour and also covered those questions.Such an amazing report for 3 years at a price of 1100 was too much worth the money. Awesome job, Astrotalk!! I am a lifetime customer and would do marketing for you guys as there is no better app than this one.You can check their app from here - Astrotalk.

Is Casting Hub Legit?

All these so-called auditions advertised on the radio are scams.
They tell everyone that they're one of only a few to get accepted, that they're really talented, etc, and then they ask for money.

It's not real.
No genuine agent ever asks for money upfront.

Of course the presentation looked professional and nice, and this Zeek guy was paid good money to attend - he's an actor, so any job is a good one. He wouldn't care if this was a scam or not!

This is how scams operate - they make it look genuine and then scam you out of loads of money.
They won't get you or your kids any work - they'll just take your money and shatter your dreams.

The only way that a kid can get auditions to TV, movies, commercials, etc, is through a genuine agent - and genuine agents will only accept actors who have had many years of training at good acting schools and loads of experience. The good acting schools include classes in how to avoid scams and get a real agent.

Sorry - but you have to be sensible and realistic. You've been scammed.
Just don't make it worse by handing over any money to these people.
If your kid wants to be an actor, get him into a good acting school.
xx
