What Are The Average Grades And A Level Qualifications Required To Study Bio-chemistry At

Would med school accept students with c average in biology and organic chemistry?

I am applying to medical schools right now, and have researched them thoroughly. I know that many schools accept students with C's in organic chemistry. It is a notoriously difficult subject, however you later have the chance to redeem yourself on the biological sciences section of the mcat, with is roughly 20% organic chemistry, depending on which version of the test you get. I am not sure about C's in biology, but if you go on to take biochemistry, microbiology, molecular biology, or other similar classes, you always have the chance later to prove yourself in those. Also, if you continue to make less than stellar grades, you can always look into medical schools in the carribean, which are somewhat easier to obtain admittance into. Hope this helps

What is the best college in Indiana for Pre- Med/ BioChemistry?

In what order should i take biology, chemistry, and physics in high school?

Congratulations on your academic progress! It's very nice to have this kind of choice ahead of you.

As a chemistry teacher, I think I can field this one pretty well. For one, biology doesn't really help you understand physics. The reason that the traditional order of the sciences is bio, chem, phys is, as you said, due to the need to accrue math skills. You need good algebra skills to succeed in chemistry and good trigonometry skills, in addition to algebra, to succeed in physics. If you haven't taken pre-calculus yet, you aren't quite ready for a good high level physics class. You sound like an honors student, so I think you'd want that.

In terms of transition, you might want to take the easier class in your freshman year. High school is a big culture shock as it is. Being the only freshman in physics won't help any! Biology is mostly memorization of terms and reading comprehension. Interesting, but not hard. Chemistry is often regarded as "the hardest class I had in high school." Ask me how I know :) Physics is a more fundamental science than either bio or chem, so there would be a benefit to taking it early, as long as you have had trig.

My honors students took the following courses:
9: Bio, Geometry
10: Chem, Algebra 2/precalculus
11: Physics, precalculus or calculus, AP Chem or AP Bio
12: AP Physics and/or AP Chem and/or AP Bio
This is not including the other AP's they were taking in their English and History classes. If you plan well, you can really rack them up. However, AP classes are often a lot more boring than the regular class because there is so much focus on THE TEST, if you know what I mean. Kind of sucks the joy out of learning sometimes.

Enjoy your science classes and high school!

What are some options for a biology student other than medicine after class 12 in India?

Not all students who choose Medical stream as a career option after 12th pcb stream wish to become doctors or dentists. In Indian society, it is an auto assumed scenario. If a child opts for 12th science stream (PCB), society starts to believe and see them as future doctors. Due to this false impression, in most of the cases, students are forced to appear for medical entrance exams even if they don’t wish to. Sometimes, it is misleading as students themselves also start believing that they must become a doctor, or dentist. Lack of professional guidance results into disasters as when students realize that they are just running behind the crowd, they have already lost good amount of time. Here, I am shifting the focus from MBBS and BDS to “OTHER CAREER OPTIONS in LIFE SCIENCES” and listing out some of the possible career options for 12th Science Stream students who like to study life sciences but do not wish to become doctors.Students with Biology, Chemistry, and Physics at 10+2 can opt for career in Life Sciences. If you are choosing career in Life Science, then some of the courses that can be considered for graduation are: 1. Bachelor courses (B. Sc.) in core Life Science subjects, that include specialization in Zoology, Botany, Geology, Microbiology, Immunology, Biochemistry, Biomedical engineering, Genetics or Page on b.sc General.2. Bachelor courses in Applied sciences: Biotechnology, Forensic Sciences and criminology, Bioinformatics3. Bachelor course in Pharmacy (B Pharma)4. Bachelor of Science : Nursing5. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture: Agricultural Meteorology, Agronomy6. Bachelor of Science in Food Technology7. Bachelor of Science in Forestry and Wood Technology8. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Fish and Fisheries9. Bachelor of PhysiotherapyFor more details on College and Course Information you might like to read- Career Options in Life Sciences after 12thJob Prospects and Career Options in Life Sciences

Is Further Maths at A level really difficult?

I am deciding on my A levels for college in September.. I am taking Chemistry, Biology and Psychology A levels and I want to take Maths.. I am not sure if I want to take A level Maths or Further Maths and get double to amount of qualifications.. If I am working at an A grade in GCSE is Further Maths a sensible option to take...? Please help....

How difficult is Biology? (At a university level)?

I studied Biochemistry with Microbiology Bsc. The jump from GCSE (or equiv) to A level (or equiv) is much bigger than the jump from A level (or equiv) to degree study. As a mature student you will be judged on your merits rather than you academic achievements, if your over 25 that is!

You would do well to read up on high school/college material on the subject as you will certainly have to sit an interview. The study guides that many publishers print would be great.

Normally your first year will be the base subject (in my country anyway) and half way through you pick your minors/modules. This totally depends on you. I loved virus's, bacteria and genetics, so I chose accordingly.

As you are older you will find your interest is amplified, as I do now. As you know what you really want. So just go with the flow! Good luck.
