What Are The Best Colleges In Newyork For Someone Interested In Modeling And Fashion And Sports

Which are the best modeling agencies in India? How can one start a carrier in modeling?

Question yourself again... What type of modelling are you fit for? Runway ? bikini? nude? face? body parts? .........................Cant figure it out? not a problemLet me answer the 2nd part of the question first. how can one start a carrier in modelling?Get a photoshoot done with a really good fashion photographer. ( Now this would burn your pocket but then it is like a investment not in terms of getting the photo clicked but also in terms of the contacts. The famous photographers are known by the agencies themselves. The more famous they are the better agency they are linked to. )Now before getting the photoshoot make sure what looks you have and check on everything. be prepared with the body too. no no no.. dont get me wrong i am not asking you for you can get good pics. Just to show the photographer that you are serious about the profession. Well yes good photographs are very important. They are the first thing you can get rejected or accepted for.1st partNow at the initial stage get into a modelling agency. Though they have a lot of rule of their owns you will recieve a better show than being a freelancer. My personal suggestion is FACE model management in Delhi, Maxxo model management in south.Get yourself enrolled to them. Call.. Get appointment. Visit them and show them that you are very much interested. Make sure that you impress them with your confidence, personality and communication skills. Attitude is important in this field but wrong attitude will take you nowhere. Hope you got a direction....

How can i convince my parents to let me become a model??

You must convince them you can be trusted and are mature enough to handle the job.
You might ask your mom to take you to finer stores in your city and talk to the merchandising people who put together local fashion shows. These directors can tell you if you have the height and size for a model. (It's important that a certain size clothing fit you without alterations.)
At your age, working on the local level, you are most likely to be paid in clothes only. You will need to learn to do your hair and make-up in a variety of styles as most likely you will have to do your own.
If you do have what it takes to go further in the business,
understand that modeling, like acting or professional sports, can have a very short productive life. You can age out of work very quickly and be replaced in a few short years by the next leggy teenager with the next new look.
You need to have the education to be able to have a second career.
You will have to learn to have a really thick skin as you can be rejected for a job just for your coloring or the shape of your features. People hiring models have so many options, it's easier to go onto the next person rather than give one person the opportunity to make changes in their appearance.
You will have to be very careful about your nutrition and maintaining your grooming. There can't be late nights that will show in puffy eyes the next day.
You will need to develop self confidence and a certain physical grace, so dance lessons, gymnastics or perhaps yoga would be helpful.
If your parents say "no" to modeling at 13, you can work toward modeling a little later. Developing the work skills needed to be successful in this work will help you in another career if things work out differently.

How to get into modelling?

I am amazed at all the bad, wrong and misleading information people include in answers to this question. I have several working, professional New York model friends. Getting into modeling is really VERY easy, if you are model material. If you are 5' 9" +, with a 34-25-34 build, long legs, and you are even reasonably pretty, you are SO RARE that most agencies will sign you immediately. Truth. Modeling is almost entirely about your body, how clothes fit on you. If you are not those things, forget about being a model. Don't think runway and print are different; basically, all start out as runway, and the prettiest or most interesting-looking runway models get print assignments.

It is easy to get started. Set up a flickr.com account. Put up just a few, simple pictures; full body front, side and rear, in a plain bikini, and front and side face shots, hair up, no makeup. Put "aspiring model" in your profile. The agencies constantly search there, and will recognize immediately if you are qualified.

Be prepared, however, that almost all REAL modeling work is done in New York, LA, Chicago or Miami. If you aren't in one of those places, or prepared to go there, you really can't be a professional model. You can pretend and play around locally as an amateur, but thats about it.

If any "agency" asks you for money for anything, or refers you to anyone who asks you for money for anything (that includes lessons, photos, directory listing, websites, anything) then run away quickly. They are a scam.

"Commercial models" (models not qualified for runway) are really out of work actresses, and almost none of them ever get more than a few days of paid work a year.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of fashion?

The advantages of fashion are many:It’s a universal language - understood by millions of fashion and style lovers worldwide. When someone who follows fashion meets someone else who also follows fashion, there’s an immediate bond with a wonderful interest in common.Fashion is a means of personal expression. Fashion gives us an opportunity to make a statement to the world about our sense of aesthetics and beauty.Fashion is an art form. Putting together an outfit in the morning and accessorizing it creates a human work of art.Fashion is fun. Shopping for new clothes can be a thrilling experience for a fashion lover — looking at latest garments on display is like discovering new treasures.Fashion can build self-confidence. Ask anyone who gets one compliment after the next when they’re out in public spaces. Fashion inspires those who see us.Fashion makes you more attractive to others. Even though it is widely said not to judge a book by its cover, human nature makes this a common practice so why not enjoy it? Before I discovered fashion I felt completely invisible in public. Now hundreds of people know me and are eager to see what I’m wearing. That’s been a very positive lifestyle change for me.The disadvantages of fashion:It costs money to be fashionable. Spending $70 for a nice T-shirt can put a dent in your wallet, as can buying a pair of designer jeans for $225 USD.You will be judged more by others. This is especially true if you are shooting for a certain style and you miss the mark. Some people will envy you and be critical. If you walk around town with your $6,400 USD Chanel handbag, some folks might think you’re showing off.Fashion advertising can overwhelm people. The garment industry bombards both men and women with endless marketing messages.Weighing the good and the bad:All things considered, because embracing fashion is a voluntary activity, everyone is free to embrace it, or to ignore it. For those who enjoy fashion and can appreciate the talent and effort it takes to create new styles, a door is opened to a world of beauty and style. And anyone can be fashionable without breaking the bank - just shop on eBay or find new treasures at thrift stores. You’d be surprised at the discounts available if you take the time to look.

How can I get scouted as a model or actress on my trip to LA?

The only way to get scouted as an actress if if you are performing in a play or you have been in a student or short film that was accepted into a film festival. Nobody stops random people on the street in LA and scouts them as an actress as they have no idea if you can act. Agents go to community theatres, film festivals, summer stock, and student productions at reputable acting schools to find new talent to represent

You are not going to find many casting calls for acting during the summer. Those casting calls are normally held in January/February for the upcoming season as they are already in production during the summer for any series airing in September

For modeling you don't really find scouts in LA as they don't need to scout. The big LA agencies have hundreds of people a month submitting photos or attending their open calls. Scouts go where there are no agencies to find new models - you are more likely to find a scout in Iowa or Arkansas where you don't have any major agencies than in NY or LA where people apply directly to the agency if they are interested in being a model

The following big LA agencies hold open calls - this is where you can visit the agency at the time listed on their website and they will tell you on the spot if you are model material or not. It's a good idea to arrive about 5 minutes early. Do not arrive at the end. I worked for an agency that had open calls from 3-4 and the doors were shut at 4, even if there were 20 people still waiting in line to get in. They were just told to come back another day
