What Are The Most Essential Things To Do In Maine

I have some hiking questions?

So first of all which is a good state to live in America for hiking. Right now I live in Japan, and I used to live near New York. Also when hikers go on a like a six day hike, do they bring a tent? And how do they carry six days worth of water and food. Also do they just not take a shower for six days straight?
Also I know a compass is for knowing which is north and stuff but how does knowing which is north help when you are lost? How does it help even if you arent lost?_

What are some tips on taking care of a Maine Coon/Norwegian Forest Cat?

First and foremost: feed them a 'species-appropriate' diet. This will produce THREE very desirable results. (1) They will grow strong and stay strong and healthy for the vast majority of their lives. When you feed them in this fashion, they will have very few health issues, including few UTI (urinary tract infections) issues, and their bodies process this type of food so efficiently that their litter boxes rarely smell. (2) Their hair will grow strong, lustrous and you'll have few shedding issues (excepting the typical shedding of their winter coat in the springtime). A daily brushing will help to maintain a beautiful coat year round. This, combined with diet, will give you rarely any furrball issues in their digestive tract. (3) A correct diet will give them energy and keep them fit…no obese kitties in our home ever. This is most advantageous for their heart, especially as they age.Next, make sure they get daily exercise. These cats are easy and fun to play with, but they get bored easily when they are awake and love to interact with their human companions. Their size demands an active lifestyle in order to maintain their health throughout their lives. Maine Coon cats are easily trained to use a harness and lead so take them for walks at parks or outdoor areas where they are free from dangers like unfamiliar dogs not leashed or possibly other predatory animals or dangerous plants. Finally, be a part of their lives daily…these magnificent animals are not furniture or chachkis to be on display. Makes them an essential part of your daily life and you will have one of the very best companions you could ever wish for!

What are the biggest hassles of attending University of Maine?

I was an out of state student from North Carolina. The biggest hassle was the airport situation. Bangor served Boston Cincinatti Portland and NYC Laguardia. It took forever to get home. The small commuter puddle jumpers. In the winter were pretty scary. I opted for the Cincinnati option by jet then to RDU. The only other hassle was a major lack of quality restaurants in the Orono/Bangor area.

What is the most important thing in life?

A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize them. She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry. Please come in and have something to eat.""Is the man of the house home?", they asked."No", she replied. "He's out.""Then we cannot come in", they replied. In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what had happened."Go tell them I am home and invite them in!"The woman went out and invited the men in"" We do not go into a House together," they replied."Why is that?" she asked. One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another one, "He is Success, and I am Love." Then he added, "Now go in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in your home."The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her husband was overjoyed. "How nice!", he exclaimed. "Since that is the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home with wealth!"His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?"Their daughter was listening from the other corner of the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled with love!""Let us heed our daughter's advice," said the husband to his wife."Go out and invite Love to be our guest ."The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you is Love? Please come in and be our guest."Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2 also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth and Success: "I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?"The old men replied together:"If you had invited Wealth or Success, the other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited Love, wherever he goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love, there is also Wealth and Success !!"

Is this a Maine Coon cat?

Not in the LEAST bit. They have a very distinctive square muzzle and LARGE pointy ears with long tufts on the tips. Your cat doesn't look anything like a Maine Coon. It's simply a domestic longhair - no breed or mix of breeds just like over 97% of cats.

Very unlikely he has ANY Maine Coon in him either when breeders tend to sell their kittens altered. And again, other than being a longhaired cats he bears NO traits of the Maine Coon whatsoever. We currently have about half a dozen cats identical to yours at the shelter I volunteer at.

FYI - his claws are only "really sharp" because you're not bothering to trim them. Why not? They should be trimmed every week or so or they can get so long they imbed into the paw pads. And the curly fur on the stomach is just from lack of grooming. Most longhaired cats' fur will curl - and mat - on the stomach. You should be combing this cat's coat at least every other day.

edit: LOL at "He has the M on his forehead which only Maine coons have" Seriously? That's simply a part of tabby markings!

Hey look - no M. What is it? It's a MAINE COON! http://www.blueblaze.com/images/herisp2.jpg

Maine Coons can have tabby, tortie, torbie, solid, bicolour, smoke coats. Only the tabby ones have an "M" on the forehead!

Why is diversity a good thing?

The term "diversity" refers to the act of including in an endeavor individuals from different orientations, colors, religions or origin.I am going to assume your question is devoid of ill intent. In the interest of a comprehensive answer I need to begin by explaining there is an inherent bias in asking it.The question betrays you have never felt excluded or mistreated because of where you are from, your color, your religion or your sexual preference.People who have find this question offensive, even hurtful. The better we can see how we are perceived and the effect what we say and do has on others the better we can connect to the world around us.Do you know what is essential to improving self-awareness?Diversity.Diversity is a good thing because we should foster an environment that feels like everyone belongs and is respected. My perception of the world is not reality. It's just my perception. If I am to inch closer to the way things actually are I need to add the perception of others. Diversity is a good thing because it’s the way to understand the world. An environment that is diverse is essential even in managing the constant stress caused by my own distorted imagination. Operating in such an environment invites me to plug in, get out of the limited confines of my head and become gloriously aware of the existence, the needs, the feelings and the vantage point of humans who are different than me.Without diversity I would first impair, then atrophy my ability to negotiate, relate, teach, learn, persuade, sell, convince, influence or be a true team player.Every time you declare a problem unsolvable someone who does not think like you can see clear as day a solution you cannot. The opposite of diversity is not uniformity. It's ignorance. And that’s why it’s essential.

Do you find a Maine Coon more huggable than a smaller cat?

I think most cats are huggable if the cat feels like being hugged. But we have Maine Coons and they are delightful.Orange male is Jones. A true man’s cat.Brown/grey is Lily, and is my cat entirely.Lily is dominant. Jones is sweet, but as dumb as a plank. They sleep all wrapped up into a bundle sometimes.Lily is my favourite. She is with me ALL the time. She snuggles a lot and wraps her legs around my arm to nibble and lick my hand before going to sleep. She has caught the red dot.
