What Are The Rules Of Fasting In Ramadan

Fasting in ramadan with anemia?

I have anemia too, I also find it quite hard to fast sometimes. Generally the first few days are really hard for me but after that my body starts to adjust to the eating times and it isn't so bad.

When you eat in the morning, make sure you drink lots of liquid to set you up for the day. I usually have a big mug of tea (tea is good for dehydration) and also a big glass of orange juice, but if you can drink more, then it's even better for you. Same with when you break your fast in the evening, make sure you get as much liquid as you would on day when you were not fasting.

Eating food with iron in it is also essential, ie red meat etc for when you are eating after sunset (or in the morning really).

If there gets a point where you are so ill that you need to take some form of medication when you are fasting or something, don't be afraid to break the fast. Allah does not want us to suffer and we can make up the day another time. Our health is of the utmost importance to Allah, that is why it is haram to damage our bodies.

But insha-Allah you will be fine (:

What are some tips/advice for those fasting in Ramadan?

My biggest advice:Drink a lot in the morning - I don't miss the food as much as I miss the water. So the biggest thing I have found is to drink a lot and eat food that has a lot of juice in it (oranges, apples, etc) in the morning.Try to stay busy or sleeping - while you are busy or sleeping, you are not thinking about eating or drinking.Don't try dieting -  I see a lot of questions about dieting or just starting working out during Ramadan, I highly recommend against doing this. If you are really into dieting, you are already taking in less calories (assuming you don't gorge pre-fajr or iftar), so dieting is a non-issue, just make sure you are getting enough nutrients. And starting working out is a definite no, if you are working out correctly you will sweat, and sweating will make fasting harder, if not impossible (dehydration). So please, if you do not know what you are doing do not try this!Don't gorge at iftar - you will be in pain, and you will look uncivilized.Read Qur'an - We constantly focus on the physical aspects of Ramadan, but that is only half of it. The not eating is supposed to help you grow closer to your deen and be able to empathize better. So this is the ideal time to take Allah(SWT) instruction better.Do Better! - It doesn't have to be anything big like achieving world peace; maybe you are not praying all each salat, maybe you haven't made dua' in a while. Ramadan is the time to do better so at least try, Allah (SWT) promises that every effort and intention (for good) will be rewarded, so you have nothing to loose and everything to gain.

What are the rules to follow fasting during the month of Ramadan before sunrise to sunset? What is the first thing to start fasting? How to follow it properly?

We fast from sunrise (from the call of the fair prayer), until sunset (when we hear the call to mahgrib prayer). The actual times vary from location to location.During this time we not only abstain from all food and drink, but also sexual relations and bad talk as well. Before we start our fast we eat a meal called “suhoor”. The meal should be filling and free of simple carbs and sugar - in order to get us through the long day of fasting. Plenty of water should also be consumed throughout the hours when eating and drinking is permissible. Sexual relations between husband and wife are also permissible at this time (between Maghreb and Fajr). After Isha (the final prayer of the day) is the night prayer we pray during Ramadan, “Taraweh”. After this people either sleep or some stay up until fajr and continue to pray, eat, or socialize. In Muslim countries the work hours are usually adjusted to allow people to sleep in some.

What are the rules about kissing during Ramadan?

Apparently you can kiss your spouse during Ramadaan even while fasting as long as there is no exchange of fluids to interfere with the fasting process (no eating or drinking, sex etc.).After the fast is broken, you can indulge to your hearts content until the fast starts the next day.You can kiss your children and your family members as long as the tenets of the fast are adhered to.You are not allowed to kiss your spouse to orgasm and vice versa during the fast, just remember that!

Why do muslims fast during ramadan?

Because mohammed had to go one better on any religion when making his religion. Christians fast in private so he had to be public and for a longer period of time. Same goes for various other things: Jews wear the yarmulke and so muslims have a prayer hat and basically islam goes against the golden rule as well (treat people as you would want to be treated) etc etc etc.

@HeySoul Sister; "We also do it to remind us of those who are less fortunate then us." That must be why you stuff yourselves at sundown. Goes against the point of fasting in the first place.

What are the rules for starting and ending fasting during Ramadan while on long-haul flights?

The Quranic injunction for fasting comes in chapter 2 verses 183-184. As you see in the highlighted portion, illness and journeys are explicitly spelled out as cases where the person is excused from the obligatory fast [i.e make the day up with "an equal number of days"). O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous - [Fasting for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then an equal number of days [are to be made up]. And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] - a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person [each day]. And whoever volunteers excess - it is better for him. But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.Having said that, in practical terms if I am flying from Chicago to NYC (2 hour flight), I will not break my fast.  I then break my fast when I see the sun physically set outside the plane window based on the fact that a Muslim is asked to fast from dawn to sunset.  So if the sun sets physically in the place you are, that is that. But practically speaking, the vast majority of Muslims don't fast on long haul journeys.

Do muslims have exceptions for fasting on Ramadan?

[Fasting for] a limited number of days. So whoever among you is ill or on a journey [during them] - then an equal number of days [are to be made up]. And upon those who are able [to fast, but with hardship] - a ransom [as substitute] of feeding a poor person [each day]. And whoever volunteers excess - it is better for him. But to fast is best for you, if you only knew.(Quran 2:184)The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur'an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [the new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey - then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you; and perhaps you will be grateful.(Quran 2:185).Fasting is mandatory to all mature people (above age 15 generally) unless during some medical conditions or travelling. if you can’t fast with hardship there is an option to feed a poor person.

Who makes sure that Muslims are actually fasting on Ramadan?

Unlike most actions in Islam like Prayer - it is usually performed in a group, Pilgrimage - performed in Makkah along with others, Charity - involves giving it to another person, Fasting is between a person & his Rabb, Lord, Allah. There is no second person involved in this."O you who have believed, decreed upon you is fasting as it was decreed upon those before you that you may become righteous" [Quran Chapter 2 Verse 183]Fasting has been made compulsory on Muslims so that they can increase in Taqwa - Consciousness of Allah, fear of Disobeying Allah. Muslims while fasting can eat in secret but they develop that Allah is watching over them & hence refrain from eating, drinking, lying, backbiting, etc. Muslims develop this habit of always being God Conscious. If a Muslim is always God conscious, even when not fasting, then that person will never do anything that displeases Allah.
