What Can I Do To Make My Swollen Leg Go Down

How do you make your ankle swollen?

Well, I could be making the incorrect assumption here that you aren’t asking ‘what could cause my ankle to swell?’…if I have, I apologise. If you really want a swollen ankle, here’s an idea: Hobbling. Here’s the vid from the movie: Favorite scene from "Misery"The problem with this is fairly obvious; you’ll end up with more than a wee sore ankle.Other ways:Slam your ankle with your car door.Hang upside down with one leg tied at the ankle to a height greater than yourself for say, half an hour?Kick a thug; they’re bound to retailate.Become a post or mailman.Wander in long-grass patches with a mouse tied to your ankle. Snakes like them (Caveat: if you’re in Rattler country, go to the hospital after….you’ll still end up with a swollen ankle).Find a Brown Recluse, but don’t let it bite you: the running away will probably be fierce enough to cause swelling in both ankles.Break your tibia, fibula, or metatarsals - I did. Works splendidly for that prolonged swelling. Even moving the talus out of true will do the same!Good luck!…sorry, meant Break a Leg!! :)

How do i make my swollen feet go down?

Don't soak your feet in cold water -- the reason they're swelling is because there's too much fluid in your body, and your blood isn't pumping fast enough to get it moved around -- if you put your feet in cold water, it will shrink the blood vessels in your feet and ankles -- meaning that even LESS blood will get into the area.

I've worked in nursing and rehab for a number of years -- and there are several things you can do, which I recommend to my patients, just the same. The first is, of course, elevation -- as the doctor suggested. It isn't enough to just sit in a chair and prop your feet up . . . although that's better than nothing, it'll allow the fluid to flow until where you bend.

It would be best to lay on your back, with your feet up on several pillows, so that there was a gradual slope downward -- the important part is to make sure that they're above your heart as much as possible.

Something else that will help is moving them, again, as the doctor suggested. I find, in my patients, that plantar and dorsiflextion help best with swelling in the feet and ankles (that's just . . . rocking your feet up and down, like you're tapping your toes).

If the lower legs are swollen, kicking your legs out, and marching will help -- to -- the more you move them, the more blood you'll have flowing . . . but you have to find some healthy medium, because chances are, if you're marching or kicking out, you're sitting up.. . which means that gravity will work against you, too.

You could use ace bandages to wrap your feet and legs -- do this after you've rested and elevated them for a while, so swelling is minimal. You'll want to wrap them in a spiral motion, not criss crossing -- you'll want it to be tiger at the bottom (the foot, and get gradually looser, the tighter up the leg it goes). This will help to prevent the legs from swelling quite as much -- and while I assure you, it isn't the most comfortable sensation, it feels better than . . . your feet feeling like they're going to explode.

He is a 3 week old puppy i dont know what 2 do about his swollen leg?

I hope you have the mother too. If not then you have a bigger problem as to what he's eating, as a puppy should only start to be weaned from it's mother's milk at 3 weeks...

But take him to the vet about it's leg. Ice it until you can get there to reduce the swelling but get there right away. I mean ice it on the ride there.

My cat's hind leg is swollen. Is it broken?

It might be broken. Then again it may only be soft tissue damage, a bruise that will go away without intervention. Wait a day to see if he’s getting better. If he is in pain even when he rests, cannot eat or drink, take him to the vet rigth away. If he’s in an ok mood, but is not bearing his weight on the foot, and the swelling does not seem to get worse, wait a day or two to see if he’ll improve. Try a cold pack on the swelling. If he doesn’t let you, hisses at you, doesn’t lick his paw or lets you touch it even lightly, he is obviously in too much pain then there’s more of a chance that it is serious. If nothing improves, take him to a vet no later than the third day. No vet here, just personal opinion. If you did not see the accident, or if you dont know the swelling is due to a trauma, be more cautious. Make sure your pet has no fever, or anything cut, bleeding, infected etc. Err on the side of caution if it seems to be something more than physical trauma and dont hesitate to take him to the vet right away. That’s how I would evaluate the situation in any case.I dont understand people who tell you to take him to a vet right away, not to keep a pet if you can’t afford it, refuse to give an opinion etc. First of all, it’s a lot of money, and not many people can take their pets to the vet everytime something seems wrong. Dont have pets if you can’t afford it? How can you say that when so many millions of pets are euthanized in shelters in western countries every year? Please have a heart, both for the pet and the owner’s financial situation. Sure, there are some stingy pet owners who neglect their cats, but do not assume the person asking the question is one of them. Consider the possibility, make your warning, then simply write what you would do if you couldn’t easily afford a vet. I’m sure the owner realizes very well that he’s not getting professional opinion, he’s just trying to assess the situation and have an idea of what others would do in his place.

Feet & Ankles so swollen after c-section!! How to make them go back down?

Its is absolutely normal.

I had it to, and it is the extra water in your body trying to get out. It goes to the legs, then out your body. Weird, but that is how it goes.

Happens with all types of delivery.

I had severe edema (mostly on my stomach) during my pregnancy, so my legs swelled huge and scary after I gave birth. I scratched them til they bled they were so itchy! But 2 weeks later all gone.

Good news is, your going to lose a TON of weight in the next couple weeks!

You don't have to elevate your feet, in fact moving around and walking gets rid of the extra water faster. This isn't like normal things that swell feet, where putting the legs up is best. The more you get moving, the quicker your body can get rid of that extra water.

Also, walking a bit everyday is better for C-section recovery.

What is good treatment of the horse legs swollen?

it depends on why the leg is swollen. but feel if its hot or warm and if it is hose it down for like 10 min. with cold water.
its hard to say what to do next with out knowing what happend
you could wrap both legs (front or back depending which one is swollen)
you could try rubbing it down with lineament (not if there is a cut)
and if all else fails call the vet and see if you can get some bute* not sure of the spelling. say it and they'll know.
its an anti-inflamitory, extra strength asprin kinda. that will deff. help but it doesnt solve why the leg is bad.

deff try running cold water over it a couple times a day, that should really help.
good luck!

My Chihuahua has a swollen ankle, what can I do for the swelling to go down?

Make sure their isn't anything in the pads of her paw that could be irritating and causing the swelling. Try and keep her relaxed and calm and resting. She will move on it when she is feeling better. It was more than likely just a little trip when she was playing or something. Our Chihuahua goes running out the front door and forgets to stop before the end of the deck and will end up with little sprains and swollen legs for a few days. She bounces back just fine with rest, and I am sure yours will to.
