That's exactly right, but it's fun to watch literalists fall all over themselves trying to prove that God wasn't lying and the serpent was. God did say "in the day you eat of it you shall die," not "you will become mortal and die in a few centuries," and the word translated as "die" is the same word used for physical death in other parts of the Bible. The usual excuses don't hold much water. BTW, the interpretation that the serpent was really Satan came about long after the story was written.
Need Christmas gift ideas for MIL that is recluse, hoarder and believes we are in End of times?
My MIL has fallen into a difficult place in her life. She has become a shut in recluse, a heavy hoarder and believes that we are in End of Times with every possibility of someone wanting to kill her if she steps foot out of her home. I want to give her something for Christmas but I don't want to add to her clutter. I can't take her out or buy her a gift card because she won't leave to use it. I'm stuck. Please be nice. She refuses counseling and this isn't about that. I just want to put something under the tree for her.
What exactly does the soul want?
In general the soul wants to be happy. Ultimately, however, the soul wants Eternal Beatitude, Eternal Happiness which is the Unending Vision of God Face to Face. This is so because only the Transinfinite Good who is God can satisfy the infinite longing and capacity of the soul which is for the fulfillment of Being and Beauty in Their total possession by the soul. Therefore, the soul wants to be Deified by becoming Eternally One Thing with God which is achieved in the soul's Beatific Vision of God Face to Face. This is the soul's Final End and Happiness, the soul's Eternal Bliss.Nor is this some mere desire for self-fulfillment. Rather, this is God's Eternal Will for the soul which is written upon its deepest nature and so is innate to it. This will to Oneness with God is so deeply written into the soul's nature by the Hand of God its Creator that it constitutes the existential-ontological definition of what the soul is.In this view, the soul is God's spiritual reflection longing to be fused into One Thing with its Original, namely, God. Thus the soul's Beatific Vision of God Face to Face constitutes its Ultimate Fulfillment, for by means of this Supreme Vision the soul finally and perfectly becomes God.
What do mormans believe?
the Mormons believe that JESUS is the Son of God . they also believe that JESUS visited north America before he ascended into heaven after his Crucifixion. they believe that he was in north America teaching the Indians about him and his father. the also believe that this man i forget his name who lived not all that long ago maybe less then 100 years ago . was given the word of God and that he wrote a book with all manner of new teachings from God. they keep an amazing family history center in the USA that many people who want to learn about there family tree go to. the Mormons have the book of Mormon that is the book i was referring to before. they believe that the book is really the divine inspiration of God given to that man the founder of the sect. there are many similarities to your faith however as a christian that reads and accepts the king James version of the bible as being a good translation of the bible i believe that the bible is clear about anyone who adds to the bible a single word and anyone who takes a single word from the bible is cursed by God . so i believe that this man they think has been told to add to the bible is at the very least mentally ill. perhaps more but i do know that he is now cursed by GOD for his attempt to add words to the bible.
