-Jocks
-Popular group
-Girls who start drama
-Wannabees
-Those hooked on electronics
-Druggies
-The ones who are always perfectly coordinated with the season
- The 'Body Guys'
-Freaks
-Emo Kids
-Skaters
-Goths
-The group that always laughing at somthing silly

Of course, these are just some, feel free to post more. Please, just say what group / clique you're nicknaming and the nicknames. :D Also: Although we personally don't belive in labels, we really can't say 'group 1, group 2, ect'. Thanks so much!

Are there still cliques in high schools?

In my experience yes, but they’re not so easy to define as “jocks”, “nerds”, etc. They’re far more dynamic and inclusive, I’d say. They’re really just groups of friends, and while some groups may consist of more popular kids than other groups, it’s not like one group is all football players, for example, and one group is all theatre kids. Different types of people usually can make up one group, and it’s definitely not rigid. People can be in multiple friend groups, even. When I was in high school(I graduated last year), we didn’t use the term “cliques”, but instead referred to our friends as our “friend groups”. Calling someone “cliquey” definitely had a negative connotation, which I think goes to show how much the stereotypes of cliques is outdated.

Does being "popular" or "considered popular" after high school really matter?

nope. at that point in time you are a popular kid in a small pond. get out in the real world, and its filled with popular people. make it simple on yourself. just be you.

What clique were you in during high school?

My school is pretty small. It’s a rural town in Utah, and we just had a “rednecks and hillbillies” themed football game. So….. yeah, we’re small.Cliques form in about the same ways you see in movies. Through some weird phenomenon everyone has a subconscious consensus on who is in the abstractly named “popular” group. Then of course there are the “jocks” which typically only include Football or Basketball players, despite the fact that our best athletes all do Track. My school is so small that it doesn’t really have enough people to have obscure shared interests. You find people that enjoy the same things in clubs and in classes, but that is almost the whole extent of your ability to do so. Thus, when people join Band, they become a “band kid” and you can extrapolate their entire personality from this. The question asks whether I was part of any or not, so I guess you could say I was a “band kid” for my Freshman and Sophomore years of High school. I am/was part of the “Track Pack” which is just my circle of friend groups that also do track. Then there are the “debate kids” which I’m a part of. There’s “The Fam”, an older friend group of mine that is holding on to it’s last breath.Of course, there are going to be others. You almost have to associate with every person at my school at some point which puts you into a “group” with them at least by the loosest definition of the word. But the good thing about cliques is that most of them here, except for the subconsciously chosen ones, are pretty accepting and easy to get into for anyone that wants to be a part of something.I hope that answers your question!

Do high schools really have cliques that sit together at lunch?

Well I'm 14 and going to high school next month. I've never really been worried about starting highschool until last night. I was watching Mean Girls (not for the first time) and I realized that in every highschool movie i've watched, they have cliques at lunch. I'm starting a new school in a new district so I don't really have any friends. I was wondering, do they really have those cliques or does Hollywood just make them up?
