What Date Does Doctor Who Season 8 Start

Can I start watching Doctor Who from season 11?

Yes. You absolutely can, and I think you probably should. The show goes back to the early 60s and while it was made with passion and some great talent, the early stuff really shows its age. It was made in black and white, with model spaceships and people in rubber suits as aliens. Done with great craft and imagination, but still, it looks a little silly now. (Or what remains of it does. The BBC sadly decided to tape over some of the early episodes and despite a worldwide search for copies, many have never been found.)Even the reboot, from 2005, is now looking a bit dated. Doctor Who was one of the first tv shows to use “The Mill” - a movie effects company, and at the time it was one of the slickest looking shows on tv, but again, time catches up and some of the CGI now makes the rubber suits look convincing in comparison. The latest season, with Jodie Whittaker as The Doctor, has really raised the bar. The show looks brand new. They have re-composed the theme music to something closer to the original (a lot less diddly-diddly and more scary thumping sounds) and introduced a whole new cast. It is a perfect jumping on point, with a new head writer in Chris Chibnall, a new Doctor and totally new supporting cast. The stories tend to be self-contained, so there should be no need for you to have any knowledge of what has gone before. The last few seasons got a bit tied up in themselves, with minor characters from two or three years earlier popping up without explanation all over the place. It felt smaller as a result. Now we get the whole of time and space to play in again. All new.Jump in feet first and enjoy the ride. The other fifty five years of the show will be there if you ever want to go and watch them.

I haven't seen Doctor Who. Can I start with latest season? Is there any connection between previous seasons?

There are always connections from previous seasons. I wouldn't recommend you to start watching from current season. It will be difficult to follow about what is happening in the first episode of Season 8.  If you want to start watching Doctor Who, i would suggest you to start from first season of 2005 reboot. (Doctor Who is originally started in 1963, now known as Classic Who).Season 1 of 2005 Reboot is a slow start. But once you start following, it gets more and more interesting, smart, scary, funny and a lot of things.Another starting point is Season 5 of 2005 reboot. It is very good entry point into Doctor Who. But the sad thing is you will miss some of the most EPIC episodes and brilliant performances in previous 4 seasons ( Or may be you can catch up on them later).

Is season 8 of Doctor Who worth watching?

I loved seasons 3 through 5 of Doctor Who, and I was super excited for the new doctor and season 8. I watched the first 3 episodes and it wasn't really that exciting, except for the first episode. I like the 12th doctor, it's just that the plot of the episodes aren't that interesting to me. Does it get better throughout the season those who are keeping up on the show?

Can you watch Doctor Who season 8 on Netflix?

In short: No (but perhaps yes)As of today (March 29th 2015) Netflix US is offering only season 1-7 of the new series and all episodes of the old series for streaming. However, some sources* mention that season 8 has been available on Netflix DVD since December 2014.I suspect that season 8 will become available shortly before season 9 is about to air, which is scheduled for fall 2015. Personally I can't wait for the episodes to come online and start re-watching some ahead of the new season, but it looks like we'll have to wait.* Everything Netflix | 2015 Release Dates, Delays and News

When will season 9 of Doctor Who be on Netflix?

To date no official release date has been announced, but it's safe to assume the series will follow the same sort of pattern that it did during this past year. Season 8 made its Netflix debut on Aug. 8, 2015, which was almost one month ahead of Season 9's premiere date on Sept. 19. With that in mind, Doctor Who's ninth season should be on the streaming service by August or September 2016.

Can I jump into any season of Doctor Who? I don't want to watch all 12 of them. If so, what season is best to start with?

Over Doctor Who’s 55-year lifespan there has been 38 seasons and 826 episodes, featuring thirteen incarnations of The Doctor, numerous companions, and plot strands that span the entire run of the show. So it’s a pretty daunting show to jump into! But if you’re only talking about the post-2005 ‘modern’ seasons, I’d say start with season 5 - the Eleventh Doctor’s first season. Eleven is a good ‘starter’ Doctor - friendly, quirky and brave, young yet old, with the weight of the universe on his shoulders.Once you’re done with seasons 5–7, continue onto seasons 8–10 - the Twelfth Doctor’s era - he’s older, crankier, snarkier and much more Scottish, but no less in awe of the universe and no less compassionate. Peter Capaldi is also probably the best actor to have played the part, so be prepared for some tour de force performances. Then go back and watch seasons 2–4, the Tenth Doctor’s era, with David Tennant. Some of the show’s best ever episodes had Ten in the driving seat, such as Midnight, Silence In The Library, Blink and The Girl In The Fireplace. Then, for the sake of completeness, go and watch season 1 - the only one to feature Christopher Eccleston’s Ninth Doctor. Some excellent stories - The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances is fantastic, as is Dalek and The Unquiet Dead. Unfortunately the season hasn’t aged as well as the ones that came after it. But it’s a shame we didn’t get to see more of Nine.Once you’re up to date on the modern seasons, dip into the classic era - Tom Baker’s Fourth Doctor had some amazing, timeless stories, Peter Davison’s Fifth Doctor paved the way for all the modern Doctors, Sylvester McCoy’s Seventh Doctor showed The Doctor’s darker side, and Jon Pertwee’s Third Doctor was a foppish action hero, with a yellow car, skills in Venusian Aikido and a taste for velvet cloaks and bouffant hair.

In Doctor Who Season 8, is the Doctor traveling with one Clara, or does he meet up with the Clara from each time period respectively?

Yes, the Doctor is travelling with one Clara. In general, the Clara who is the focus of the episodes in Season 8 (and 7) is the “real” Clara, the one we meet in The Bells of Saint John, who jumps into the Doctor’s timeline in The Name of the Doctor. The only times (outside of The Name of the Doctor’s cool montage, of course) that the Doctor is shown on-screen meeting up with a Clara echo, are:Asylum of the Daleks, when he meets a Clara who crash-landed on the Dalek asylum planet. The Snowmen, when he meets a Clara who was a Victorian governess. They actually did a pretty reasonable job of playing up the Clara mystery, given that every appearance bar two is of the real her. (On the other hand, they didn’t do such a good job of making her seem like a real person. Oh, well, swings and roundabouts.)

What do Whovians think of Doctor Who (2005) Season 8, as a whole?

It's funny. I like Peter Capaldi a lot, and Clara had moments where she was great (particularly the times where she stopped taking the Doctor's shit and stood up to him); on the other hand, the overall chemistry was more bad than good (too many "clueless Doctor making fun of Clara" moments), I didn't particularly care about the Danny Pink romance all that much, and I thought bringing back the Master (Mistress) as the Big Bad was a little bit of a copout. In general, think they're caught up in the 50th anniversary fan-service loop a little too much and need to mix some more new stuff in and a little less recycling the Greatest Hits (Daleks, and Cybermen, and the Master... OH MY!). (The one exception would be to check in on River Song because it might be interesting to see how she interacts with this new iteration of the Doctor.)Overall a mixed bag, but Capaldi's take on the character is enough to keep me watching and see how (assuming the rumors of JLC leaving are true) things will go with a new Companion. Or even if the rumors are false and JLC stays, maybe the next season can be a bit more of a clean slate now that they've dispensed with the "OMG, he's totally different!" storyline.

When is season 8 of Doctor Who comong to Netflix?

I love Doctor Who and pretty soon season ( will be airing, but since I live in America and the only way I have to watch the show is Netflix, I havent even seen season 8. I was wondering if anyone knew when it is coming to Netflix. I really dont want to watch it on things like PutLocker or Movies2k because I dont want a ton of viruses on my computer. Im getting tired of having my hopes up everytime I log onto Netflix and immediatly having them brought down, so if you know when its coming to Netflix PLEASE tell me so I know when to expect it. Im just a 14 year old fangirl who wants to watch my favorite show!
