What Did People Do Before Tumblr

How do people get so many followers on Tumblr?

For me, it was just pure dumb luck. I have a personal tumblr. I post one photo a day, with some sarcastic comments. Sometimes I get behind and post two photos a day. I don't ever reblog. I was doing this for four years, getting about ten notes per post, and maybe one or two new followers a month. I had about 300 followers. Two weeks ago, a big tumblr with tens of thousands of followers reblogged a couple of my sarcastic posts and said, "this tumblr is cute" on one of them. Now I get about a hundred new followers a day. Once I got three hundred in an hour. And I'm not doing anything differently, unless yelling "WHO ARE YOU PEOPLE WHERE DID YOU ALL COME FROM?" at my screen a lot counts. :) All that happened was the right person saying, "this tumblr is cute." Not very useful, but that's my secret to gajillion of followers.

Why do people hoard Tumblr URLs?

Although I’m not as avid a user of Tumblr as I used to be (we can all agree that Yahoo ran it into the ground, right?), people sitting on several URL’s they weren’t even using was the bane of my existence. I hated it.Every time I came up with a URL that I thought would suit my blog, or the fandom I was a part of at that time, I’d type it in to check it hadn’t already been taken, only to fall upon an unused blog. Sometimes there was a ‘Contact me if you want this URL’ link, but oftentimes, that wasn’t the case.I think people have nailed it in their previous responses. Selling Tumblr URL’s isn’t uncommon, and can be very profitable if you get on the ball early. It could actually be a good side-hustle if you were to jump onto a fandom before it gets popular, though obviously it’s a risk if the fandom were to remain small forever.Sorry. I have an entrepreneur brain, so that’s my instant thought.Another reason people do this is to feel powerful within the fandom. Think about it: if someone has all the good URL’s and advertises them back to their main account, everyone’s going to want to be their friend, right? Especially if said person only gives URL’s out to their friends. Those who don’t get to friend status will still follow them. It’s a good strategy, if you ask me.I’m not sure what I think of people who hoard in excess of 10+ URL’s. I think there’s a level of selfishness, there, but you could also argue it’s a business attitude, so it’s a difficult one. However, I think it’s fine to do on a personal basis. In fact, even though I don’t use the website very much, I have a few hoarded URL’s myself.Admittedly, these are ones that I forgot about, bar my main URL. I guess it’s just a habit from old times.I don’t get on Tumblr much myself anymore, but you’re welcome to find my contact information through my official blog if you want any of the saved ones I’ve collected over the years! I’m most likely to reply to my email, though the ‘contact me’ form is a good shout, too!My blog: Contact Me - Rebekah Gillian

Why are tumblr people so annoying?

I'm sure it can seem that way from an outsider viewpoint, but you have to understand that Tumblr has developed its own grammatical rules, and within the context of Tumblr, all of this is correct and makes very much sense. Even the keyboard smashes have different meanings depending on which order the keys are smashed, though to others it will seem completely random.

I was the same as you before I joined Tumblr, and even the smallest typo would bother me relentlessly. You'd be surprised how little time actually passes before you subconsciously start using it yourself.

Do they annoy you? Well, there's a simple remedy for that. Avoid and ignore. Alternatively, do what I did. That also works.

Don't forget, though, Tumblr is a huge website, and there are many different types of people who gather there. There are still thousands of those who use the English language the way you'd expect them to. Judging everyone as if they were the same would not look very good on your part.

How come I don't see posts from people I follow in my tumblr dashboard?

along with you possibly posting often and the blogs you follow possibly not posting often, if you’re a mobile user, there are three things that might be killing your dash.Best Stuff First. Sums up what you miss by putting notes by people you follow at the top of your dash. This means that if the people you follow don’t post often or don’t get notes, they’re being pushed down by everything else.In Your Orbit, and let me say, I’m not entirely sure if this one is still a thing, but maybe my phone’s weird. Basically puts things people you follow liked (or sometimes just random stuff) at the top of your dash. Again, kills exposure unless someone you follow is always on trending.Safe Mode. Safe mode, oh safe mode. Incorrectly marks posts as porn and completely ignores real porn! Once it’s hidden, mobile doesn’t like to show those posts! Sometimes it shows it in constant gray-box/gradient, or just doesn’t show the post at all!don’t worry, you can disable all these options in both “General Settings” on the app and (if you can’t find it there) Tumblr on the Settings app.

How do i make a post on tumblr, let people reply to it or do they just reblog it with there answer to my ?

Make a text post, and in the title put. "Who wants to come to the Harry Potter movie?" then on the right side, there will be a check box that says "let people reply" click it and you're done. People will eventually reply.

Can people tell if you have Statcounter on your Tumblr account?

I'm fairly certain they can see it. If you put the code for it in your description, then they'll definitely see it. Unless there's some way you can hide it in your theme's HTML or whatever that could make it so nobody but you can see it, it is visible by everybody unless they have something that blocks the sort of things that track a site's visitors.

Is Tumblr a virus?????

Ok I see that alot of people are using tumblr so I thought about joining but before I did I did research like I usually do for new sites. I saw that a couple of people said it was a virus or that if you clicked something by accident it would infect your pc:/

Then I saw that a couple of people said this was a lie and that it was a rumor started by people not wanting others on the siteD:

So is it a virus or not and will it infect my PC:/

Serious answers only please:)
