What kind of things do TV anchors have on their laptop screens when broadcasting?

Yes, yes and yes.It can be anything from a google search on how to pronounce "Dnepropetrovsk," to their personal Facebook feed, or an article for an interview later.Producers and directors "speak" to on-air talent via IFBs, Interruptable FoldBack, those wires you can sometimes see behind their ears. It wouldn't be a good idea to use a chat program to communicate live on the air, too many opportunities for mistakes in a fast-moving live show. Many anchors and news programs have been accused of using laptops and iPads as props.http://mobile.nytimes.com/2012/1...Are they using them as props or as a way to "draw in" an audience or create an illusion of being connected? It wouldn't make sense. Visually, it makes sense to have the least amount of distractions. As an anchor, I wouldn't have anything on set or on-air I didn't need, like my giant can of hairspray. The anchors are not reading scripts from their laptops, they have teleprompters which sit directly below or in front of the camera. That's why it looks as if they are talking directly to you.The convenience of being able to re-write stories during the breaks in a live broadcast and have them immediately change on the TelePrompTer is definitely a plus. Stories change so fast. I remember having to get updated information, maybe about a car accident, from my producer via my IFB and make a quick note of it on my shot sheet. She had gotten the information by calling a contact on the scene or from the police. It was so fast. Commercial breaks are only 2 or 3 minutes. Sometimes the entire story would change. Being able to rewrite a story directly from a laptop to a TelePrompTer is a huge advancement. Many anchors will have supplemental articles to stories they are reporting. For example, when reporting the recent suicide of Robin Williams, my local anchor had the local suicide hotline number and a quote from a national news source handy on her iPad. If an anchor is interviewing a politician, they may have notes or reference articles on a laptop. Usually, in a face-to-face interview, a laptop would change the intimacy and energy of an interview, but, at the desk, it would convey a message of being prepared and in control, in my opinion.Everything is faster electronically. It makes perfect sense news talent would switch from written notes to very available, convenient electronic notes. Certainly a lot easier than trying to read the chicken scratch I used to scribble on the side of my shot sheets :)

Dual link DVI and S-Video in that picture, you should have one.

Best of all is the HDMI out

Seen in that picture.

VGA port here:
http://it.unh.edu/media/av/vga_laptop.jpg

Now in order from best to worst

HDMI 720P (USB 3.0 promises 1080P output but we'll see)
DVI out 720i
S-Video 560i
VGA 280i

Now, look at your TV, if you can Spot HDMI then bam use that, if the only thing you see is S-Video then use that, VGA is really outdated so check to make sure your 2007 laptop has it because 2007 is a few years past VGA out.

Now, the only thing you need to do now is NOT overpay for a 10$ HDMI cable or if you need to use S-Video then those are 10-15$ on eBay.com

And for every one else, from experience, Sony gives the best results, theirs screens are not as good as samsung but the electronics they build into their TV's are completely unmatched when it comes to things like this.

Connect A Compaq Armada 1750 Laptop to a TV?

If you're connecting a monitor type wire from the laptop to the television, there should be a key to push in order to change to the output instead of the laptop's lcd. it's usually a function button, meaning you'll need to hold down the function key, usually "fn" near the ctrl and alt keys, then look up around the numers or F1-F12 keys for something that looks like a screen, most I've seen look kind of like a box in between 2 vertical lines.

Sound problem on laptop with tv tuner card?

The lack of sound will not be directly related to the TV Card. Sounds are controlled by your Audio Card (Sound Card). Either you have a conflict between the TV Card and the Sound Card or the problem is with the Sound Card. Check in "Start", "Settings", "Control Panel", "System". Click on "Hardware" then "Device Manager". All items, in the menu should be closed with a + beside them. The item / items with a yellow warning icon is / are problematic. Open the icon for your "Sound Card and select "Properties". It should then tell you if you have any conflict and / or any problem with the drivers. Click on the tag for "Update Drivers" or Reinstall Drivers" if the drivers are reported as not being loaded. Let it automatically search for drivers and install them. If the TV Card is also showing a problem, do exactly the same for the TV Card. This will usually sort out the problem. If not, you will need to search for a folder called "Conflict". If the two pieces of hardware are sharing the same IRQ, you will need to manually reassign one of them. The first method is to check all other hardware to see if there are any spare IRQs. If one is spare (unused) reassign the TV Card, if that was the last item to be added, to the spare IRQ. If not, you will have to reassign the card with an IRQ already used. After reassigning, check that whatever hardware is already using that IRQ is not in conflict with the card. If so, try another IRQ. All else failing, let Windows automatically select an IRQ and try again. As a last possibility, check the configuration for your Audio. You may have it configured to play through external speakers.

How can I connect my laptop to my smart TV without wire/cable?

Assuming, you have a SMART TV with WiFi, it is extremely easy to connect the laptop with TV, without cable. The Process is in 3 simple steps:First:First of all, you need to make TV WiFi accessible on laptop, kind of like a hot spot. That's all from TV end. (You may want to refer the Operation Manual of TV for finding about how to do this.)The next step is on Laptop. Assuming, you have Windows 7 as your primary system for connection, I'll answer this. (Although, you can do these steps in any system)Second:Find the WiFi of your TV, in the Connect To menu, in the system tray, and connect to it, provide the password if needed. (Again, TV Operating Manual will be helpful). Select the network type: Home NetworkOpen Start.Type "Media Streaming Options" (without quotes)Click on the first result.Select Show Devices on "Local Network"Click Allow All.Now in, "Media Programs on this PC and remote connections": Allowed. That's done.Third:Now, for streaming media, you need to add the folders into library. For this, let's take an example of your music collection.Put the music files you want to play on TV, in a folder in your hard drive. Now, from thetop menu,( or, right click on folder for other system), select include in library>Music. Done. Now, start Windows Media Player. Select the song or playlist you want to play, and in the PLAY tab, on the top right corner, you will find an option saying, Play to: Select the TV from that list, and voila. It is done. The Same procedure for Videos, just select include to: Videos LibraryFor Pictures: Pictures LibraryHope this helps.
