What do you think about Australian people?

As Terri says the following (below -or above -wherever):This is a silly question. People are different. I was born overseas but now live in Australia. What do you thing of Americans? Are they all loud mouth know it alls? What do you think of Texans”? Are they all loud mouth know it alls? What do you think of Hawaiians? What do you think of English”What do you think of Germans? What do you think of Canadians? So I can assume that:Americans are ‘loud mouthed know-it-alls’. And as such it would follow that - so too are Texans, given they’re Americans - trick application - Well done! However, your time machine may be stuck on 1844 - In which case Texans are ‘loud mouthed know-it-alls’ independently. Now as for Hawaiians - mmm - there’s that union jack - Oh! so given the time machine is stuck on 1844 already I would assume that Hawaiians are not necessarily ‘loud mouthed know-it-alls’ So I guess saved by the union jack in this case - so we just ‘think’ about them. We also just think about the English, Germans and Canadians - and rightly so - they didn't think they were going to get out of this scot free did they?Australians? Well …I think about them …but they don't think about me.

What do you think of Australian people? Do you think they are rude?

Australians are “rude” due to a variety of cultural factors. Most powerful and pervasive is a strong sense of egalitarianism; that all people are essentially equal. This is tied almost inextricably to battlerism; that we are all entitled to a fair go for equal hard work that may take many years to pay off. Further there is Tall Poppy syndrome, where someone who is perceived as overly successful or a braggart is to be ostracised or excluded until they fit with the norm once more. Lastly os the concept of Mateship; simply described as a loyalty to close friends above all other things. Australian culture also, perhaps unfortunately, has a strong tradition of antintellectualism, where education is undervalued and derided as inferior to physical labour. An absolute negative of Australian culture is the Cultural Cringe, where traditional Australian values, language, culture and dress is viewed, by Australians themselves, as inferior to other cultures, formerly British in the past but latterly American.Australians have a tendency towards unworldliness and naivete when dealing with foreign cultures. Their brashness compared to other cultures is generally covering a uncertainty of how to act and most Australians will be welcoming of any attempt by a local to teach them about local norms so long as it is approached in a friendly manner, preferably over food and drink.

Which city or town in Australia do you think is the most redneck?

I have lived in most places in Australia and I think Townsville QLD tops the list. I'm an Australian of Asian decent and have had so much trouble finding a date in Townsville compared to when I lived in a city like Melbourne which seems to have more open minded people.

What is your pick of most redneck city/town in Australia?

What do Australians think of Asian people?

It's a complicated question, however for the most part Australians have no problems at all with Asian people, in fact Asian people have been part of the Australian population for well over 150 years with many Chinese people emmigrating here to take part in the gold rush of the 1850's.It does somewhat depend on what you mean when you say Asian.  I think most Australians when you say Asian, think of people from South East Asia - China/Japan/Vietnam/Malaysia/Indonesia.   Whereas if you said Asian in the UK I believe they may think more of people from the sub-continent India/Pakistan.    Some may even consider people from the middle-east as Asian - indeed those countries competed here in Australia in the Asian cup soccer earlier in the year.  All that said, there are many many people living here who are originally from SE Asia, and there are many many people living here from the sub-continent.  Twenty or thirty years things were perhaps not that friendly for Asian people in  Australia.  The repugnant Pauline Hanson made quite a name for herself opposing Asian immigration - fearing we would be swamped with Asians.  Her stance won her significant support amongst xenophobic idiots, also known as Queenslanders ;oP  But Pauline and her pack of racist useful idiots have now turned their hateful attention to Muslim people.  Especially in big cities now you see so many Asian faces walking through the streets you could be forgiven for forgetting you were in Australia.
