What Do You Think About Lead Female Movie Roles

Any movies where the lead female is ugly and the guy is hot?

So, I've noticed that there are alot of movies starring men with all sorts of looks, ugly, hot, and in-between, but the female love interest is ALWAYS far more attractive than average. People seem averse to watching unattractive women on screen in roles where men are interested in them. Even in a movie like Shallow Hal where the point is that Hal is with an ugly woman, she appears attractive during almost all of her screen time...

So, are there any movies where the central romance involves a really attractive guy, and an ugly woman? (And not "movie ugly" as in she is gorgeous but wears nerd classes, I mean actually played by an unattractive actress...)

And, are there any movies where a very attractive man is dating an ugly woman, and this combination is just realism, not the point of the movie? I saw one 5-minute art film once where this was the case, but I think that's it...

Do you appreciate that most movies that have male lead roles do worse then movies with female lead roles?

Really?I mean maybe more films have male leads then female leads, but lets take a look at IMDB’s top 250 films, now to get to the first film which has a female lead is 24. Silence of the Lambs, Jodie Foster. Now Jodie Foster was great in that film, but do you know who was even better? Anthony Hopkins…The number #1 on IMDB is Shawshank Redemption, correct me if I'm wrong but I don’t believe there was a single line by an actress in that film. Then we have #2 #3 The Godfather 1 and 2, now I’ve not seen the Godfather, but from what I understand it’s a very male dominant film.#4 Dark Knight Rises, Heath Ledger, Christian Bale.#5 12 Angry MENAnd so on, go take a look for yourself. Now my answer Is going to sound as sexist as your question. And of course IMDB doesn’t give the final say in what makes a great film. However I think the films I have listed are widely considered all time greats. So I guess my question to you would be, Why do the majority of the best films have male leads?

Do you think leading couple roles in big movies sleep with each other to fortify their acting?

Sometimes actors do get carried away while filming.Like our very own Superman, Henry Cavill got a boner while filming an intimate scene. It’s quite natural.Henry Cavill forced to apologise after getting an ERECTION while filming sex sceneBut sleeping together just to enhance their chemistry?Lol!Even Manuel Ferrara and Abella Danger don’t do that for their movies.

Which actress is played the female lead role in the malayalam film Manjeera Dhwani?

Anyone else tired of seeing female leads/heroines in horror movies?

It's becoming really annoying.

I'm tired of watching a horror movie with a female heroine surviving last. I mean, don't get me wrong, I think it's cool, but it isn't fair.

I would like to see a guy for once being the only survivor, or him being helpless and personally attacked, but still trying to survive, etc.

I mean, most horror movies show women only, you know? I think it'd be fresh and what not. Most people wouldn't care having a guy kidnapped and raped like they would portray a woman getting kidnapped and raped. Not that I want to see that, I'm just saying. No one would take it seriously.

Rant over.

Am I the only one who would like a male lead/survivor?

Why are there so few female heroes/protagonists in big movies? For example do you think The Lord of the Rings would have worked if Frodo was a girl?

You’re right. You only have to read the top 250 rated movies on IMDB to see that there are a lack of films with female protagonists. There is a common belief in the film/tv/book industry that men cannot connect with female characters the way that both men and women can connect with male characters. J.K. Rowling was advised not to show her full name (Joanne) on her books as it might have deterred young boys from reading them. Apparently, it wasn’t enough that the main protagonist was male.I think this has something to do with men rejecting anything viewed as ‘feminine’ or ‘girly’. It’s more acceptable for women to want to be like men, as stereotypical male traits such as strength and ambition are valued highly in our society. However, men who possess stereotypically female traits such as sensitivity are often ridiculed.Ultimately, both men and women can get behind a male protagonist because they are viewed as aspirational, but men can’t get behind a female protagonist as they’re substandard. However, I don’t think the answer to this is to have more and more ‘strong’ female characters who embody strength, intelligence, ambition, confidence and rebellion, etc. It’s great we have Jessica Jones and Olivia Pope, Agent Carter and Kimmy Schmidt. I think things are starting to go in the right direction for female characters. It’s a slow process, but we’re getting there. We just need to keep going. But I do think we lack something even more vital. We need male characters who are vulnerable, great communicators, sensitive or emotional. Because men, just like women, have been short-changed when it comes to characters. Yes, they’ve had more of the spotlight. But only between very defined gender lines. That’s why I’m such a fan of Peeta in the Hunger Games—the baker whose greatest abilities are communication and emotional strength. We need to show boys and men that they can be heroes without having to be macho. That we can get behind a kick-ass girl and a sensitive boy. Because in real life, we don’t conform to gender traits. We each have our own unique strength and weakness. It’s time for the movie industry to reflect that.

Why do you think Asian women/men are not cast in the leading roles of Hollywood movies???

I understand if they're like fully asian and can't speak english and whatnot, but many of the great Asian actors have grown up in the US and speak english perfectly. Why does Hollywood insist on always casting all the same types of people? (I'm not saying all of the blonde and brunette actors and actresses out there look alike.. because they don't, and most of them are really great actors and look gorgeous) :D
