What Do You Think Of Keith Vaz

Why has Keith Vaz disappeared from the politics scene?

He is a criminal that should be in prison. Pc liberals and racism keeping him out.

Why didn't the British take charge on Keith Vaz in the Lalit Modi row?

The British government was not sure whether Keith Vaz used his public position to facilitate the travel papers of IPL founder Lalit Modi or not. So, because of lack sufficient   proofs, the British government did not mind to  take charge on Vaz.

Do you like MP Keith Vaz?

NO ... sadly he is a living disgrace, a truly poor example of an Asian, and more importantly he has shown his true colors, in that he is exceptionally 'greedy'. and two faced.

It's one thing, to be a representative for the public, but it is another to whip out the 'minority' card, whenever it suits you.

BUT ... the worst thing, is that as a representative for the minorities in UK, he is corrupt, devious and most important a LIAR.

ALL THE QUALITIES, which he should NOT be. He is a joke, and should be removed from his position, since he is NOT a true representation of ANY minority within the United Kingdom.

MPs say 'UK risks drtifting into surveillance society' Who do they think doesn't know UK is already the worst?

All the above I have witnessed with the National Crime squad here in England, the stuff I could tell you about re the police surveillance esp would blow your mind,I was a target with these people cos of people I knew(still am)and beside the gizmos youve also got to handle what amount to FBI style psyops, this certainly isnt Dixon Of Dock Green anymore fella, serious stuff!!

By going to lengths actively reviewing prostitution laws in his committee role via personal experience, is Keith Vaz not more in touch with society?

I think the opinion implicitly given in your answer is a fair one, and does illustrate that politicians offer solutions with only limited, second-hand experience of common problems. In the instance of Vaz, I think the solution is more nuanced than “he hired prositutes and therefore understands the industry”.With prositution, the problem isn't on the side of supply - it's the demand. For example, I have no reason to suspect Vaz ever harmed one of the sex workers he hired, but it's almost certain that each of them has experienced unlawful violence during the course of their work. Similarly, there is indication that he pressured them into using illegal (and potentially dangerous) drugs when he hired them.As you can see, the real solution to the problem of prostitution is involving sex workers and their advocate agencies in the debate; MPs have been hiring prostitutes for generations on the one hand whilst voting against their interests on the other. So yes, whilst Vaz arguably has a greater “insight” into sex work than other MPs, it qualifies him no more than someone who regularly purchases groceries to run a Food Standards agency. Politicians need to increasingly include sex workers in the debate on decriminalising prostitution so that they can no longer fear contacting the emergency services when things go wrong.

How much are stolen passports worth and why?

It depends on the passport. In the EU, criminals prefer to steal IDs, because they can use the cards for various frauds in several countries. The problem with stolen passports (for the bad guys) is that technology developed really fast and it is very easy to find the false passports at airports, ports, etc. Nowadays, if the real owner of the stolen passport calls the police, it is just impossible to use that passport internationally. Modification of stolen passports is also a very difficult task, I think a good quality tamper  is more expensive than purchasing legal passport in some African countries. With the new tax info exchange agreements and the obligatory Know Your Client process, stolen passports are not enough for opening bank accounts. In the case of technically not so developed countries, where a fast check can not identify the fraud docs, there can be a market for stolen passports. About exact prices, two years ago I read a story in Turkey, they stole 2 Hungarian passports and sold those for USD 3000 each. The funny thing is that half of the country would run there to sell the travel document because a new one costs around 100 (for the temporary pp to leave Turkey) and +100euros for the new passport. So, I think the international market of stolen passports is not that profitable anymore. However, not stolen but fraud passports are still a huge business. There are factories in Turkey (or somewhere around) for the not so Syrian refugees, where they forge all kind of Syrian docs. There are thousands of old style, easy to falsify or withdrawn passports around, which can be sold very fast. The typical story is when a poor country changes its passport to a new one. Somehow, there is always a missing briefcase full of virgin/unfilled passports from a remote consulate. Because of the recent new system, most of the citizens still use the old type passports, so it is easy to hide for a couple of years with these false documents, without the modern security paintings and signs.
