What Do You Think Of My Occupational Therapy Entrance Essay

How do I write a good personal statement for occupational therapy grad school?

When I was a student, many years ago, one of my teachers told me about the selection process. She said that since they had many more applications than spots available, that what they looked at besides academic success is “occupational choice”. What was the choice that each applicant had made? Had they really decided that they were going to be an occupational therapist as their life-long career? Or was it just something they had a current interest in? The school wanted to choose applicants that they felt would become occupational therapists. So, in your personal statement, I think you should try to convey that you have made a choice: Occupational Therapy is what you want in your life; it is the choice you have made; and you want to become an occupational therapist. Show them that you really know what OT is. It was a long time ago that I wrote a personal statement as part of the application, but I remember telling about my personal experiences and how that led me to occupational therapy and a career choice. I also alked about my experience in a clinic as a volunteer or observer and why that inspired me to choose this career. Good luck!

Read my nursing entrance essay and give me your thoughts/opinions.?

Every thing I have done in my life, I have worked very hard for it. This program will be no exception. First, I will keep God at my side at all times. With Him all things are possible. Further more, I will continue to be confident in myself and work hard at everything I do to allow me to be very successful in this nursing program.

Life it self throws many curves at you, but it is up to you to get through them. With this program there will be many curves and obstacles as well, but I will preserver and come out on top.

Once I become a nurse, I plan to continue to be dedicated and sincere, but also very nurturing. These are just two of the many qualities that I feel a good nurse should posses. Having these qualities will not only allow you to succeed in nursing but in life as well.

Nursing is a fulfillment in life for me. It is a reward that I have been given and I can’t wait to be able to give back what I have been so blessed to have.

Please share thoughts and ideas!

To Whom It May Concern,

My name is Sonia Cabral and I am twenty one years old. I graduated Bristol Plymouth Regional Technical High School in 2007. I attended the Community Health Program and worked hard to get my C.N.A certificate. I have been working at Morton Hospital as a nurse’s aide on a medical floor for about 5 years. It was just a year ago when I had the courage to go back to school.
Working at the hospital I noticed myself always encouraging patients to perform their best. I also enjoy seeing my patients to recuperate their strength and be able to perform their daily activities. Working in the healthcare field gave me a little knowledge about the variety of jobs in the Healthcare field. Occupational Therapy Assistant, I feel would be a great job for me. To be able to help an injured patients regain their muscle strength.
Since I started attending classes last year I want do my best. So far, I have a 4.0 for my G.P.A. I intend of working my hardest to keep the 4.0. Once I am an OTA, my goal is to ultimately become an Occupational Therapist. Now that you know a little bit about me and why I am interested in OTA, I hope you take how much I want to be an Occupational Therapist Assistant into consideration.
Sincerely,

Sonia Cabral

Why are top colleges focusing so much on letting minorities and first-gen students in and rejecting students with much better applications? I agree that it is good to a point, but it seems the pendulum has swung too much away from pure merit.

Because in the past minorities were not given these opportunities, the playing field need to be shrewd toward women and minorities. When you say merit, are you talking testing, this is not the true methodology that ensure success in this setting. If, a person is a hard worker and do not know the meaning of”quit”, that person is going to be successful. I am a living example, I am a minority with a Master's degree in occupational therapy from Texas Woman's University, at the time I attended, it was in the top 5 for occupational therapy. Thank the Lord that I did not have to pass a test to get in. Now, I did have to pass a test to become an occupational therapist. There, is a method to test taking, you must know the method to be successful. I passed the certification test and I have being practising for over 25 years.
