What Do You Think Of The New Pine Litter And Do I Have To Introduce It Slowly And Add It To My

How to introduce an old hamster to a new cage?

Your hamster may be a little attached to it's old cage. So I would suggest putting something from his old cage that would make him feel at home. For example...pieces of his bedding that has his scent on it or something else from where he sleeps or spends a lot of time by. Slowly as your hamster adjusts, you can take the things out if you think it's affecting his eye infection. (Keep his old cage just in case though.) If you have a wheel that you can move around I would recommend that too. I understand that you are buying a tank but you can get a brand new medium sized cage for just 20 dollars. With a cage that has bars, fresh air can easily go in and out so that the cage won't get all stuffy. Personally, if my own eye is irritated if I blow air into it it feels better, so that cage may be better for your hamster. The chose is yours...Good Luck! :)

Can you mix clumping and non-clumping litter?

Yes, if you’re desperately close to being out of litter. Two things to keep in mind, though:1) your cats may reject a new litter compound or a strange-smelling mixture, so go slowly and use as much of what they’re familiar with as you possibly can.2) the less of the clumping litter you add, the more likely the stuff won’t clump the way it should. Then you’ll have to dump the entire box every time it gets nasty, and start over. If you’re changing to all-natural litter, more power to you—but I am so grateful for unscented clumping litter that I could celebrate its invention! Which reminds me: it’s time for that chore right now. But at least I don’t have to walk the cats in the rain.

Need help cats are peeing on everything.. its getting worse!?

I have two cats. Milo we've had for almost a year and has had a peeing problem since we've gotten him.. He would pee on towels, blankets, my bed, pillows, my couch.. and even once he had the balls to pee right on top of me while I sat on the couch. We pretty much figured that it was because he wasn't neutered.. but then I just read that he wasn't spraying because he wasn't doing it on vertical surfaces but that he was just full on peeing. We got him fixed and then just learned to keep our bedroom door closed because peeing on our bed was his favorite spot. Getting him neutered seemed to help the problem a lot with just a few accidents here and there.
A little later we got Olive and it didn't seem to effect Milo in anyway.. The peeing didn't get worse but seemed to actually make it better. We did have one incident where we walked into our kitchen to find that one of them decided to poop right next to their food bowl. Milo never had any problem with pooping anywhere so we weren't sure who did it.
We just moved about 3 months ago and on the first day we found that one of the cats decided to pee in my suitcase that was laying on the bedroom floor.. we just decided it was probably from the stress of the move. Maybe about a month ago Milo peed on top of a chair and then we found later that night that one of the cats pooped in our entry way closet right next to their clean litter box.
It wasn't happening all of the time so we just cleaned it up and watched out for anything else that they did.. but for the last 3-4 days it has been absolutely horrible.. either one or both of them have managed to pee on our couch, 3 large lounging pillows, a chair with a cloth cover on it, & 2 throw blankets.. and we woke up one morning to find poop next to their clean litter box again.
We have no idea what to do anymore.. I love my cats but i'm 17 weeks pregnant and I cannot have cats who act like this around my baby. Any advice?? We will try anything before we get rid of them.

Is my guinea pig supposed to eat its pine bedding?

Pine shavings are toxic to small animals. Both pine and cedar are soft woods, which emit pheanols. These are particles that get collected in animal lungs, and over time, slowly deteriorate tissue. Animals living on pine often develop respiratory infections, which are very painful and difficult to treat. Nevermind eating the pine shavings, your guinea pig will become ill just living on them. You need to switch to either aspen shavings (hard wood) or something made from paper, like carefresh.

Your guinea pig probably isn't eating them though. He might just be testing them out to see what they are all about. A lot of rodents use their mouthes as little fingers to explore new things. He is probably just nibbling at first, but should not continue doing this. Either way, switch the bedding soon!

Can I use hamster bedding as litter for my cats?

Hello! I've have two cats, one about 7 and one about 3. They are my first indoor cats but I have owned each since they were kittens. They were already litter box trained. But now I am moving out of my family's house into a small apartment and, having had them live in my room for the past three months (we recently moved in with my stepdad and he hates cats), I am finding it is difficult to live in such a small space with the two of them and their litterbox. Basically they kick the litter everywhere including outside of the box onto the floor, and they track it in their paws. It gets everywhere, including in my bed. I hate it!! I'm looking for an alternative to regular sand-like clumping litter. I've heard you can use wood chips/hamster bedding for litter, but I can't find much about this method on the Internet. Has anyone had luck with using this? Or do you think it would be a good idea? I know the cats may have some trouble adjusting to it but I plan on slowly incorporating the new chips in with their old litter and slowly adding less litter til there is none being added. Thanks!
