What is it like to date/marry a politician?
I will try to answer this question w.r.t, my own framework. (I am actively involved in college politics.)Pros:They will always keep you happy. Most politicians are people-pleasers and will consider your happiness their personal success.They will give you great first impression. They are quite presentable and present themselves with class and confidence, from the firm handshakes to the way they talk to you.They are very good listener and conversationalist. They know how to look you in the eye, listen actively, and articulately engage in conversation on a number of topics. They are educated and opinionated. Debate with them can be a lot of fun. A politician will challenge you and keep you own your toes when you start to voice your own opinions.They’re influential. Dating someone who has a lot of responsibility and is making decisions for the greater good can be a real turn-on if you trust their motives.The spotlight. If you crave the spotlight, you’re in luckTime - If you are independent person, you will get enough time for yourself. Cons:Time Issue - Success in the political world may come at a greater price, you may get less time to spend with them. Mostly you will find them busy in some public meetings.Your personal life will become public. Everything you do and think will be discussed in public.You have to deal with the "image" of them in public, and sometime may have to listen a lot against them.Restricted outings- You can't go anywhere and everywhere with them.Conflict of interests- If you are not at all interested in politics or related stuff then you are surely going to have conflicts over various issues.Trust - It is a general belief that politicians can't be trusted. Though not true always.P.S. If you are related to media background or a social activist, then you have bright chances of finding a 'good' politician date (because you share a common thought process). Infact I,myself, would love to date a girl like this.
What is a political marriage?
An arrangement on the legislative level (even city council), or on the national level (country); generally where two or more differing or opposing policy positions are compromised to attain an acceptable co-existence.Often an unhappy “marriage” for governance sake. The operative being ‘half a pie is better than no pie’. It’s how the sausage is made. The Latin root word means citizen. Difficult trying to define a word without using the word. Verstehen ?

Why is gay marriage being talked about by federal politicians?
If it is truly a states issue,then why is there a federal DOMA? Furthermore,don't you foresee any legal problems cropping up with some states recognizing gay marriage and others not?

OMG! I have the SAME problem! I have ACTUALLY become OBSESSED with politics..and my BF was going NUTS! lol. the only problem is, i am mostly liberal, and my BF is an "i don't care about anything" type of guy..and it frustrated me b/c he was conservative on alot of views when he actually opened his mouth..or he didn't care about crap. We would ALWAYS end up fighting.. Somehow we got over it. He realized that my obsession with politics is a sign that perhaps this was my PASSION. That perhaps my concerns are something that I'd like to put to action in the future. You Hubby probably feels like he wants to get into politics in the future and he may not trust you to be there for him. Try to talk to him about it. Tell him what my Bf told me..., that you see that he has a passion for politics and who knows, he will probably run for senator some day and you support that! But tell him that you also need time to talk about what you like too. And that you want to be able to voice your own oppinion w/out feeling scared. Tell him everyone is NOT ignorant and if he plans to run for office, he needs to understand that and accept ppls views. It really will mean alot to him, that you actually RECOGNIZE that maybe this is something he sees in his future. That maybe he could trust you with his dream and trust you w/ ur support. I think this is all he's lookin for. But make sure you talk to him about how YOU feel..
Is it true that the political leaders who are not married are honest, or comparatively more honest?
see politics has nothing to do with marriage. but it is natural for people of india to think that way because in india we have made an image when we think about married polticians names which come in front of our eyes are lalu prasad yadav and many others and of course its narendra modi who is very much transparent and is not married but its not true that politicians which who have married are corrupt take the example of manohar parrikar although his wife died long back but still he has children and led married life once still he is quite a transparent figure till now but one truth of politics is that no leader in this entire world can be said to be 100% non corrupt but although if we talk about the ratio of corruption with respect to married and un married politicians than yes in this respect the married politicians will easily take lead .

Wow, I read the answers here and people are so blinded by those of privilege, wealth and power. No matter what happens to the economy, Maria Shriver and Arnold Schwartenegger will not suffer. Millions of us do. It just shows you that maybe she isn't a Democrat after all, even though she was born into that family. Yes, the wealthy elite have their pet non-profits or charities they sponsor, but when they go home, they don't have to live by the rest of us. Maybe she didn't sell out at all; maybe she is just an air head with no beliefs. As for her being either talented or attractive, both of those are untruths. I used to watch her on Dateline NBC and thought she was horrible. She also looks mal-nourished.
Why is same-sex marriage of political concern?
It is of political concern because in just about every country in the world the act of getting and being married results in the government bestowing certain benefits on the married couple.Pension rights, insurance rights, rights of survivorship and inheritance, the rights vary from country to country, but the spouse is the next of kin just about everywhere, and many legal rights flow from that.Therefore, the state must act in order to make the benefits of marriage available to same-sex couples, who could not otherwise obtain them, for no good reason.
