He went home and found that the book was lying open again a 'G for Gazelle'. .......

English story ideas?

I have to write a 5-7 A4 page essay and the questions is to write a short story in which mistaken identity is central to the plot. Also my teacher said its best to write it in third person narrative, 2-5 characters and in a single timeframe and I have no idea what to write about so any help would be greatly appreciated! And I can't do being mistaken for a celebrity because someone else is already doing that. Help me please.

How do I study for the 10th ICSE exam in English literature?

LOTS of people will tell you lots of things but frankly speaking ICSE English is not a simpleton thing, scoring in other subjects is far simpler than scoring in English, simply because ICSE English curriculum is the best in the country at its level and it is what makes ICSE stand out from other boards , well I can give u SOME pointers for ur preparation. In literature paper (i.e PAPER 2) You should be thorough with the text of whatever story or play you are preparing, and by thorough I mean u should basically remember the entire jist of every chapter along with the exact lines from the text in paras of key plot points or where u feel something important is happening in the story , same goes for your plays. If preparing Shakespeare make ur own notes, write the importance and characterization of each character from ur perspective and how u find he/she plays an important role in development of the plot. Discuss with ur English teacher the importance of each scene and its relevance to the wider world of the play, and MOST IMPORTANTLY KEEP IN MIND SHAKESPEARE WAS CONSIDERED THE GREATEST PLAYWRIGHT for a reason each segment of his plays highlighted some social problem in his era and yes questions are asked in that context too, so try to understand if the lines refer or allude to any such point. While writing answers be PRECISE don't beat about the bush blabbering won't help in ICSE English if the person correcting ur answer is proficient, write to the point answer and expand and quote lines directly from the text they'll earn u credit and make an impression in the examiner's mind.PAPER1 is relatively easier contact ur English teacher and ask her to suggest some essays, letters and comprehension, practice them then show it to ur teacher and take his/hers feedback to improve on ur essays and then for grammar u can practice from various guide books available only after consulting with ur teacher,of course. JUST DON'T LOSE HOPE OR BECOME TOO Overconfident.HOPE THIS HELPS U, With a bit of a smart work my strategies helped me score 95 in ICSE English , there even have been people who scored 100.ALL THE BEST PREPARING.(P.S U can practice workbooks by XAVIER AND PAMELA PINTO if u like)(Pls upvote if u found this useful)

I ran out of time to finish my English lit GCSE paper.. Is it a problem? : /?

I did my English Literature paper on Tuesday and I did 2 questions - short stories and poetry. I did not get to complete the end of my poetry essay as there was not enough time. I also done the Journeys End exam beforehand for 45 minutes and had to do a question on the novel - it was a repeat as I had already taken it in January and got my results in March. I got a grade A in it and I only did 2 pages - 3 paragraphs! I ran out of time but still done good! My teacher made all of us repeat whether it was an A* or a fail. In the repeat I did 4 pages but still I don't think I will have done better in the paper. I believe in quality, not quantity. For the 2nd paper our teacher told us to use PEE - Point Evidence Explain. It is best to do a few well developed points, the examinar will know the conditions of the exam and will not mind having not finished as long as the content was there then you will be fine! x

ENGLISH HELP ONLY 1 QUESTION?!?!?

This isn't 1 question, this is 2 short essay's xD Do you need help understanding your goal, or are you just wanting someone to do it for you?

Why am I good at math but bad at English and reading? How can I improve? Why do so many people struggle with math and not with English and reading comprehension?

I am someone who has similar experiences. Math is fairly easier compared to writing. And I am struggling with this passage as well. I do not know what level of mathematics you are referring to so as an example I'll assume that you get basic calculus easily. You started off learning what it is, how it was developed and its applications. So now you are skilled with this tool set and now you try to solve real world problems with this. Now you know math. The people you are referring to who are 'bad in math' have trouble understanding the concepts and hence fail to implement them. On the other hand, English may be your native language but when it comes to writing, it's all about creativity. It is all about how you translate your ideas and experiences into words. And it does not necessarily involve having a great vocabulary (though it adds color to your writing ), it's an art. Hence in the past you may have noticed when you start writing about a topic, you're staring at a blank page when good writers already have a fair idea on how to paint a good picture. To sum it up, the rules of math are harder but easier to apply them and on the other hand, the rules of English are easier and writing is an art.

What do you like/dislike about English class?

Well, i have the best english teacher in the world (in my opinon obviously). before i had him, my writing SUCKED so much. wow. and before him, my other teachers made us read Anne Frank and the Giver every year.

currently, my english teacher assigns great liturature; from novels (like the Stranger by Albert Camus), to poems(like Sonnettes by Shakesphere or Poems by Robert Frost), to short stories( like the Nick Ada's Stories), to plays( like Arms in the Man by Oscar Wilde and Hamlet by Shakesphere). he also makes us write all the time. last year, my class wrote a good 18 essays and had a good 22 vocabulary tests. we wrote mostly essays but we wrote 2 short stories.

the teacher is always in a great mood. he really understands our age group and our sense of humor and deeply sympathises wth us when we have too much more for other classes. he is just a really good teacher mostly for the way he connects to the class
