What does additional subject mean in the CBSE class 12th? Is it the 5th subject or 6th subject? If I had physics, maths, biology, chemistry and English, then how would I get to know which one was additional?

English is language -it is not a subject .Second language is not a subject .There is no classification as 5th or 6th .All for subjects Maths ,Physics .Chemistry and Zoology are 4 equal subjects enabling to attempt medical and engineering courses .PCM group treats Biology as additional .But in certificate there may not be word -additional .

Does compartment in a subject means that I am failing in 12th?

Yes, a Compartment in any one of your exams means you have failed to cross the ‘Pass’ barrier. You will probably have to sit for a retest in the month of July-August.

What happens if a student gets FT on the CBSE improvement exam?

I had been in the same situation, but i always had love for physics, machines and opted for mechanical engineering, with the last year marksheet in a tier 3 college(had no other option), cause improvement marksheet gets invalidated and you can see RESULT: XXXX which basically means that you have previous year marksheet as the main marksheet, cause you failed in a particular paper in the improvement exam of this year, hence it has been mentioned as FAILED IN THEORY(FT).Apart from questionBTW cbse has been cheating,as they have removed the re-checking procedure of the paper,i don't understand why have they been degrading their status from time to time.Even though i have applied for re-evaluation,i guess it won't be of any use cause even after clearing JEE main and advanced,i couldn't apply for jossa counselling,i couldn't get into IIT but IIIT atleast could have been expected.Although i am looking forward to improve my academics. To add more this year, most of the student has failed or has compartment in result, except magnitude of few students have increased in 90% and above because of grace marking,i mean seriously who's CBSE kidding with, everyone knows the truth except your relatives. To anyone who's to get admission in 11th standard, opt for state board if it’s good. Afterall knowledge is what matters. All the best!

If I fail in one subject and pass the other 5 subjects in CBSE, will it be okay?

Absolutely O.K. The subject you failed wont even affect your percentage. Remember, all 5 of them should be full subjects. P.E. wont count. For example-1.Pass in Bio, Phy, Chem, Eng and Maths. Fail in Comp. Final result-Pass.2.Pass in Bio, Phy, Chem, P.E., English. Fail in maths. Final result-fail.Also, you will be disqualified for the fail subject. That means, you cannot claim admission in a university for the failed subject if you pass other subjects and pass overall.Second, you shall still be able to play professional sports and demand sports quota if you fail P.E. It simply does not count.Hope this helps.P.S.-Please check the facts about CBSE circulars properly before believing teachers blindly.

If I fail in the CBSE improvement exam (Physics), what marks will be written on its result card?

You improvement marksheet will reflect new scores obtained by you in respective applied subjects. For example : if you passed class XII in 2017 & got 59/100 in physics. You applied for Improvement in 2018 & got 45/100Then in this case 45/100 will be reflect on your improvement marksheet. But while admission in various colleges marks best marks obtained by you in respective subjects will be considered from both of the marksheets.Note :In CBSE your final result status decides fail/pass/compartment. In case of improvement exam your Result status will be XXXX that means: appeared for Improvement , doesn't matter whether you have been pass or fail.If someone gets fail then no further compartment chance will be given nor compartment will be written on the marksheet.Dont worry! All the best
