What Does It Mean When Someone Says This To Their Friend Who Has Suicidal Thoughts

My friend is having suicidal thoughts; what do I do? ?

I've been in the same situation one too many times.
The best thing to do is assure her that you think that she means the world to some people. Her parents are flakes and are probably too stupid to know that just because your kids may disappoint now doesn't mean that they will ten years down the line - but she shouldn't be living for their approval but hers and God's. That we need more caring people in this world like her (believe me I've never seen a person be suicidal that wasn't generally a 'good person'). She should talk to a professional - i don't mean that just to cover your *** or say what I think I should. The fact is that couselors and psychologists really are trained to help you with your fears, disappointments and all sorts or things that 'friends' can;t really do.
I'm in the process of becoming a psychologist and I know even I shouldn't 'counsel' my friends. A professional can give you a very honest assistance to give her the mental 'tools' to help her.
If she already has a plan on how she is going to kill herself - YOU MUST CALL THE POLICE. ASAP. Once someone has a plan they are considered in real threat.
OH I forgot to tell you, one of my best friends killed himself - I should have called and have regretted it ever since. Now my mom called the cops on my cousin for that reason. And because of that she got help and she'll tell you to this day she was mad as heck at the time but she knows my mother loves her too much to risk and that the counselors gave her those 'tools' that help her to this day. She was given up by her mom, sexually abused by her dad, and the grandmother that watched over her was abusive. But she learned how not to let others label her...That they too had their own craziness they never learned to deal with, but she did. She got help, family that loves her and most importantly Jesus to heal her.
And to answer her - there is a heaven and a hell. I can't say where she will go but if she is still here God is giving her a chance to do some good here on earth and she loves her very, very much. "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." (Jeremiah 29:11)
I will pray He helps you make the right decisions and show you how to love her through this as a great friend and that He heal her heart.
...Ps. As for my friend who committed suicide - I just wish I knew then what I do now

My best friend is having suicidal thoughts...?

The first thing you should do is call her - and if you can't get a hold of her, then you might go to her house - and ask her what you lied about, because you honestly don't know.

Then you might talk to her about it, try to make her feel better, let her know your always there for her, ect.

Other than that, there isn't much you can do.

How would you talk someone out of suicidal thoughts?

You should make sure she gets the medical treatment she needs, even if it means you break her confidence. Your life is so precious that there is really nothing EVER important enough to end it by your own hand. The moment you are in now will be only a memory. My Friend is Having Suicidal Thoughts?

One of my very best friends is currently having suicidal thoughts and me and my other good friends are very worried for her. I've known about her depression for a little over a year now, but this is the worst it's ever been. I've reached out to her many times and I do my best to help her but it just keeps getting worse and worse and now it's to the point where I'm extremely worried. Please, no trolls. Any advice is appreciated.

What does it mean when someone says they had an "episode"?

Almost an "attack" of something. For example, there are points where my depression is worse than usual ( I am more moody, upset etc.). My therapist refers to this as having a "depressive episode". Also when I have asthma attacks, sometimes my doctor refers to it as having an "episode".

Why do I get suicidal thoughts out of nowhere?

There are too many variables to give an exact cause in your case with the information provided. Many have replied with scenarios of possibilities. If you feel overwhelmed, disconnected and alone, brain chemistry that causes clinical depression or other reasons are just a few. It's important to know if your thoughts are situational or clinical depression. Nearly everyone suffers from situational depression. It's normal to experience depression to varying degrees during intense times of life. This does not last long and changes as the cause changes. This is your REACTION to outside factors. If there are no unusual triggers and or it lasts for more than 2 weeks, occurs frequently or you can't quickly dismiss the thoughts to harm yourself, this may be clinical depression and will require therapy and or medication or behavior therapy to help you. Clinical is usually not something most can conquer on their own as it’s cause can be chemical imbalance or deep emotional scars. In either situation it's helpful to be aware of when it happens. I tell people to keep a diary. Write down the day, date and time of these thoughts. Write down every thought no matter how shocking. Write everything in as much detail as possible about events at that time, where you were, what you were doing and how you were feeling before, during and after. This gives you a way to go back and examine this for unknown triggers and it the best tool a professional can have to help diagnose and help you if it comes to that. Most important is to have a support system available 24/7. Even if it is a holiness or online chat on a support website. You need to know help is there and you are not alone and you're not broken.

My best friend is suicidal?

My best friend has been depressed for 2 years now I think, and nobody knows about this except for me and 3 other people. Her parents doesn't know anything about this.
She rarely eats, doesn't sleep, works and studies until she cries, is self harming and tried to commit suicide. She doesn't think anyone will miss her if she dies. One of her friends left her and her boyfriend broke up with her. Her mother is horrible and mentally abusing her.
What should I do? We are 15.
