On average, how long does it take to become a good driver?

Unlike most people, I was not fortunate enough to have someone to really teach me how to drive. So I practically learned how to drive when I was 21, and although I can operate a vehicle, I still KNOW for a fact that I am not a good driver. I have only been driving for a few months, and I do not feel like I am improving at all. I get confused about who has the right of way, I also get confused whenever I turn on my signal and make a turn. Like I feel as if I am not supposed to slow down and that I am holding up traffic when I am abt to turn.

In all honesty, how long does it take to learn how to drive a vehicle WELL. I am just so unconfident about everything.

What is the definition of a good driver?

A good driver:
1. Drives in the right lane when not passing
2. Does not tailgate motorcycles
3. Does not have dirty front wheels, because they don't slam on the brakes for stop lights
4. Stops before the white line at crosswalks
5. Always uses their turn signal
6. Does not brake while driving uphill, down hill or while keeping a constant speed, unless it is necessary to do so to avoid a collision.
7. Knows their vehicle - ie: does not tear around corners in an SUV
8. Pays attention to the road and what's happening around them first, and ignores distraction as much as possible

An alert passenger will notice these things and feel comfortable with the driver following these easy steps.

What distinguishes a good driver from a bad driver?

A good driver:• Knows the capabilities and limits of his/her car• Maintains his/her car• Keeps his/her tires properly inflated• Inspects the car before each use• Maintains complete situational awareness at all times• Keeps to the right (or left, in the UK) except to pass• Has no blind spot because the sport mirrors are adjusted correctly• Never tailgates; if one is on a two-lane road and the driver ahead is going slowly, one adjusts one’s speed accordingly to maintain proper distance• Never uses a cell phone while driving (hands-free or not)• Is polite to other drivers; one always has the right to yield• Never uses the horn except to avoid an accident• Never takes his/her frustration out in road rage• Has lights on at all times—they’re not just for the driver to see, they’re for other drivers to see you• Won’t drive when inebriated• Won’t drive when overly fatigued• Uses the on ramp to get up to speed before merging• Obeys traffic laws• Allocates time for the trip taking into account the speed limits/possible traffic jams/weather conditions• Adjusts speed according to conditions• Knows how to hit/use the apexes to maintain speed and avoids braking in a turnA bad driver:Violates one, some, or all of these

How do you know whether you are a good driver?

I have no tickets, no accidents, don't see accidents in my rear view mirror and the only claim I've ever made is for hail damage.  I think, after 30-some years of driving all over the US and parts of Europe,  that says I'm a pretty good driver.

How long does it take a person to learn to drive?

Probably about two months, but I had my permit for a year before my test.

How to take a good driver's permit picture?

I'm 17.. still don't have my permit.. my mom is forcing me to get one this week. In my state I think you have your permit photo transferred over to your license when you get it.. so this is it. This is the big photo lol. It's been VERY hot and humid here recently.. hopefully it will cool down a bit by the end of the week.

I'm going to try to tan the next two days.. or at least one.. just to get some color.. but I'll be careful not to get burned.

As for hair and makeup and everything.. well I think I'll just do my normal makeup because it's very neutral anyway.. but hair... what are you allowed to do? I have long brown hair that comes past my boobs and I ALWAYS wear it in a side braid.. or at least to the side. I NEVER wear it behind me.. EVER. Am I allowed to wear it in a side braid for this? I mean.. it's not like, covering my face or anything.

Also.. how acceptable is it to touch up my makeup at the registry? I'd certainly want to put some powder on right before my photo. Will I look ridiculous doing that or is it worth it? Even if it is ridiculous.. is it okay because my picture will actually turn out okay?

I have a small chin. I've heard that they ask you to push your head up against the backdrop. I look better with my head angled down to create a shadow on my neck and slim my face. Like kind of bringing my head forward a tad and angling my chin down slightly.. can I get away with that?

For what to wear.. It's SO hot.. but I'm assuming it's just common sense not to wear a strapless shirt right? Lol. What kind of neckline is best? What color is best?

Are you allowed to smile? Teeth or no teeth?

BONUS QUESTION:
I own a pair of circle lenses. Circle lenses are colored contacts where the color extends further than the iris, giving an enlarging effect. It's really an optical allusion.. it makes the whole eye appear larger. There are some crazy ones out there.. the ones that I own are pretty subtle. They're a completely natural color that match my eyes and the enlarging effect is so slight.. it's just like "oh she has big eyes" not, "oh look at those contacts". HOWEVER.. circle lenses ARE NOT sold in the US. They're not USFDA approved. Lots of people wear them and there are lots of reasons OTHER than safety that they're not approved by our FDA. Anyways.. contacts ARE considered a medical device and these are in prescription. Is it okay to wear them for the photo?
